Train Bytes is a series of short videos by svsfilm.com featuring railways in Britain, Europe, North America and Africa. They include restored cine film and more modern analogue and digital formats. Some authentic railway sounds are added to silent cine film footage.
This short film features early 1960's scenes at Worting Junction, west of Basingstoke, where the mainline from London Waterloo diverges west to Salisbury and the west of England or south to Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth.
Steam is still king in 1962 with Bulleid designed original and rebuilt 4-6-2 Pacifics and two smaller 2-6-0's in their last few months of operation. The larger locomotives will continue until 1967. One of the Pacifics featured is 34072 '257 Squadron' which fortunately has been restored to working condition.
Watch out for more Train Bytes soon from SVS Film!
