Maybe the band directors don't want the tuba's to blow. Southern is a brass band and their music is written for power. I recall coming from class in the evening watching and listening to them practice and Doc would tell the tuba section to tone it down alot.
@EMIGOSH13 Some bands feel that the percussion section should be the quietest when the winds are playing. You want them there but you want to feel the pulse underneath and throughout the sound. Some people don't like drumline stealing the band's thunder by being too loud while the band is playing. When you're marching, playing cadences or whatever, you can be loud. You can have the beat carry but don't let the beat outshine the sound.
I didnt go to southern but ALWAYS said that Southern was the HOTTEST SBCU Bands out if not OVERALL! Incredible sound! I was a trumpet playa and I know what the biz is...I went to a corp style school, marched DRUM CORPS and the stuff that southern is doing is CRAZY!
I paly the tuba. That is no tone quailty the band is loose but the tubas Sound like shit I like SU but they need to do somethin bout that.Theyy sound like high shcoolers.
o tight, one question i play the clarinet what wud be the easiest instrument to switch too if i wanna be in a brass band??send me a message if u hav any idea PLEASE!!!!
southern tuba aint shit fucking fiber glass tubas suck i bet 5million dollars(IF I HAD IT)that grambling would be way louder only because they play on metal
This is tight. Way too top heavy though: trombones are way too weak and tubas need to get their act together. Sure, they crank high notes (out of tune on this one) but their lower notes are terrible.
I played this arrangememt, there are C's in the intro so your still right, I'm talking bout the part after the intro when they come in with the next part. That note the trumpets play when they crowd kept saying "Oooo" and allat
@grandmasterjax21 here we go.......its cause by a compression in your diaphragm when youre expelling a large volume of air through the instrument. So, when you have to push lots of air, very quickly (using your diaphragm), it is a side effect.
