I give this one to SU (smh)...Neither sounded their best. Could just be tired lips from the parades who knows. SU really has done a good job in balancing their sound by increasing the numbers in their Trumpet Section. They also have the musicians in their band. Gotta respect them for it. At the end of the day its still Bama State MMH and fuck em both lol jk.

Future- Success they sound like the 4 when Miguel was there. They style is loud and proud without any balance. They really need to pass out music with 3part harmony.
SU mellos surprised me its just something about their brass and how in-sync they're with the other sections. TC was loud but lets be honest their arrangements were okay and the cut-offs were like a big high school band.

It just sounds like something is missing or outta place when dege plays maybe the way they were set up but it’s like horns had a hard time being heard (on some songs) mean while su sounded full and you can hear everything from the snare to the trumpets

SU killed them on sound quality (Phrasing, balance, and intonation) alone, not to mention arrangements and endurance. This was clearly a Mayweather and McGregor matchup.

Talladega sounds like Morris Brown in the mid 90’s. They play louder than most but lack musical style and balance. They are very entertaining but they avoid complex arrangements and focus power songs. You need more than one dynamic.

marco vera Tc main focus is being loud. Playing loud kinda forces you to yank, ever heard of Dizzy or Arturo Sandoval? Them trumpet parts are high af so for him to not even move an inch tells yo ass that he is a hornholder.
You don't have to yank to scream, look at Maynard Ferguson Primal Scream, or Trombone Shorty's Neff, they don't yank but you SEE their chops are at work. At 5:25 ish you see that boy's horn is corps style high and his chops and doing nothing but holdin that horn in place 🤦

Tbe first time I heard this song was in 1998 by southern of course... I played trumpet in high school so to hear this song after all these yrs played by a new generation of young musicians is a earful... Funny part is, I lusten to southern play this song on VHS tape so much bk in the day, the way they playing it now I was on point note by note bk then... Same notes, BTR sound
