Thoughst? 😅Take a look for yourself. Here's the Mielle Hair Growth oil causing all the uproar: amzn.to/3XCB2ID To be fair it's a product under $10. I personally won't be purchasing it, but that doesn't mean it hasn't done some good for a lot of people. It has 20,400+ ratings on Amazon and it has a 4.5 star rating. Lots of people love this stuff. Anyway, here's a little research you can read...I'm going to eat dinner. ❤ Mielle Acquisition Part 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6srB5OBtm6Y.html Alix Earle post: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRgx5Bd7/ Mielle P&G instagram.com/p/CnSFGt6u30h/?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= Rosemary Study www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319444#research Peppermint Oil Study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4289931/

So to be clear the owner Monique Rodriguez did say that she formulated this oil for a product for WOC that she couldn’t find in the marketplace at the time. So this is probably where black women in particular take issue. Also to be fair a lot of black owned natural brands targeted at black consumers (see Shea Moisture) reformulated after being bought up by larger corporations (see Proctor & Gamble) to suit all hair types. I had a similar experience in 2015 with Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner. That said I don’t really think this product in particular is even that well made AND those who want to make a similar product at home which is cheaper done in bulk & probably with better benefits for your hair. I will also add right now the market is saturated with hair growth oils & supplements etc many that are targeted at black hair textures. IMO if you don’t like what Mielle is doing, apparently they have been offering sponsorships to some white creators to promote it via TikTok at least, move on to another company or better yet make your own. Just my 2 cents though 🤷🏽‍♀️. ETA - It is sold out where I’m living though

Thanks for the research. The ingredient list is really things we can get at home and put our own little formulations together. I really don't think there's anything magical about these oils, what's magical is what a good massage will do for your scalp and for hair growth. Rosemary, however might have some benefits when it comes to DHT.

I had a horrible experience with Mielle. I own my own business and they held a contest. To enter, we had to record a short video explaining why we deserved to win the $10k prize and what we would do with it. They strung us along for weeks and never announced the winner. They were running other contests concurrently (one was only for HBCU students, etc.). They kept announcing those winners but not the small business contest winner. They kept asking for entries and resharing our videos to their IG stories. When we would ask for an update as comments to their IG posts and DMs, we were ignored. I had several friends who entered and as far as we are aware, they never actually announced the winner. They kept having these random IG Lives and telling us the "winner could be announced at any time" so we were all disrupting our days and even our businesses jumping into Lives that had nothing to do with the contest, staying on for an hour hoping for any kind of announcement, wash rinse repeat. No Mielle products for me due to that entire contest debacle. I don't trust them at all.

Yikes! 😤 That sounds about right though. I had a bad experience ordering from their website on Black Friday last year. I had seen all the BBB complaints and bad reviews about customers receiving damaged or no products, but my cheap behind still decided to order from their site because everything was on super sale. Well, the reviews were accurate…My order shipped after a week, but took several weeks to be delivered with zero tracking info., and they drafted the money from my account the second I placed the order🚩The box was in good shape, but all 8 of the products inside were damaged 🚩🚩. After several attempts to chat with a rep. on their site, they finally instructed me to send them pictures. That’s when I realized the damage looked a little suspect…None of the lids were unscrewed and there was barely any product spilled in the box, yet all of them had dried product crusted underneath the lid around the rim, all jars were sticky, some had missing product, and the packing slip had a different order number while all the other details were correct. Honestly, it looked like they re-packaged previously used/and or damaged items 🚩🚩🚩. One rep. told me to mail it back and she’d escalate my refund and follow up with me. Never heard from her. Another week goes by, tracking shows my shipment was delivered to them, but crickets from their end. Finally got a hold of another rep. who confirmed they received my return a few days prior and tried to say it would take 10 business days for them to issue the refund 🚩🚩🚩🚩. It was only after I said I’d dispute the charge that he came back with some ole “I’ll escalate it as a one-time courtesy, but it’s not our policy.” The audacity of him to think I’d ever purchase from them again! 😂 So yeah, it was a very shady experience. I’ll just stick to Melanin Haircare and TGIN.

Just heard that people were fighting over hair oil. If you are not a scientist or doctor do not give advice; especially with regards to products. What works for one individual is specific to that individual. Some use hair oils others don't...ultimately it is what works best for the individual and their hair routine. Consistency is key. My mother was an old school cosmetologist, and her customers was uniquely cared for and their was no judgement.

Exactly, everyone to their own choosing, every time you turn around someone has something to say about a certain product, what works for some may not work for others. It really irks me sometimes when people becomes so opinionated about products, especially if they aren't a licensed professional, although personal experience is also very viable, nothing wrong with giving your opinion but learn to live and learn for yourself instead of always going with someone else 's opinions, I'm sure that they do mean well and a certificate isn't always necessary but yeah I totally agree with you totally

@moneylovemanifestations9478
@@soniabrown7151 Have you researched how things are formulated? Just because there are over 30 ingredients does not mean that there are over 30 ACTIVE ingredients. The ACTIVE ingredients are the ones that need attention. In store bought products there are various emulsifiers, fragrances and dyes such as red 40 that have been scientifically proven to cause certain cancers, ADHD in children (among other things), chemicals to prolong shelf life, and MOST TIMES in beauty products, propylene glycol, which is-in plain terms-ANTI-FREEZE. Go grab five of your favorite hair and skin products and read the labels. It will be in ATLEAST 4 out of those 5. Sometimes it’s best to consider that JUST MAYBE we don’t know it all and when viewing commentary that we think we understand, remind ourselves that it’s possible that we don’t. the words “Hair growth” are all marketing. A single product can’t make your hair grow there are a lot of factors that play into hair growth and I think that we all know this already. This oil isn’t sold out everywhere the problem is social media. It’s like the game of telephone. I have been natural since 2013 and my hair was constantly dry no matter what products I used and I couldn’t figure out why until 2020. I started to deep condition more often and started to see a difference. I also started to oil my scalp and that made a huge difference as well. I learned my hair and learned how to retain moisture in my hair. I’m not saying that oils are moisturizing my hair because they don’t but they have made a difference with my hair. Blacks have been using oils in their hair for centuries this isn’t anything new and no one else has debates on using oils in hair except in this country. You do not have to see a doctor before using a hair oil. They’re not for breakage, if your hair is breaking an oil isn’t the solution, if you have a medical issue or losing hair due to diet or medication an oil is also not the the solution. We can’t be mad at the marketing geniuses; they’re just doing their jobs. People should honestly take the time to learn their hair. Everyone’s hair is different. Just because someone feels they don’t need to use something doesn’t mean that someone else can’t use it. Everyone has what works for them and just because someone things something won’t work doesn’t mean it won’t work.

I saw this oil for the first time over a year ago in an online article in Martha Stewart Living, recommending it as the best rosemary hair oil. No mention of the line being developed for curly hair or black women. The price was too good to be true ... and when I saw the top ingredient was soybean oil, the price point made more sense. It's so easy to make your own rosemary hair oil though. I went down a rabbit hole a few years ago and discovered that there is a specific phenotype of rosemary that is the BEST for hair growth. In the end, it's still cheaper to buy the components you like best and make your own oil blend.

I think it’s okay for people to give the Mielle growth oil a try especially if they are new to being natural and are on the search to find a good product that works for them--personally I don’t use mielle or any new generation hair products that are “natural” because a lot of them are protein happy and don’t give a moisture balance to even out the protein intake. I been down this road before and I said hell no, because my hair suffered and my scalp did too. I got mad and went back to old school products “grease, oil moisturizer lotions, and DIY oil moisturizer spritzers that I made and I set it off with Africas best mayonnaise deep conditioner as a leave in and I seal it with grease. I co wash with queen Helene cholesterol. My routine works because my hair is mid back length and retaining length. What I learned from my journey is to buy products with a serving purpose not just on a whim. I have a lot of “fast food” spritzer products I use daily for quick moisturization such as DIY leave in conditioner spritzers, soft sheen Carson sta sof fro, care free curl, and wave neaveau, but I stick to the same products every co wash, pre poo and wash day. This brand has been in the media for negative things since the beginning as far as I can tell. It was really just all hype and somebody who got the right investment money at the right time to be able to launch a mediocre business in the heat of the natural black hair care movement. Clearly, they did exactly what they wanted to do. Build up the brand off of taking advantage of consumers, and then sell the brand to a major conglomerate owned by Them and walk off into the sunset.

My hair has been growing well with this oil. If your hair is falling out or experiencing a allergy that’s doesn’t mean this is not a good product. Your edges are falling out and balding probably due to your diet and hormones

It's always about what it's used for and how it's used. The hair industry is not regulated so they make many claims. It is up to us to be informed so we can make choices based on our own needs.

My dirty (2wks due to a wash) _somewhat natural_ hair (dye only) was nappy at the root - gurrrrrl this stuff gave me what looked like a silk press when i applied it ALONG WITH VASELINE - i'm not a fan of vaseline, but i learned that flat-ironing w/ oil alone stiffens the hair. I left in for a few more days worked beautifully & lasted even when i sweated a bit outside. Then i made it to wash day. That was my 1st time using. I'll use sporadically but prob not weekly. I won't apply to my scalp, but worked great on hair!

I had high hopes for this oil. I ended up having an allergic reaction. My scalp would not stop itching. I had to wash my scalp a few times and take Benadryl. 😩

What you eat, balanced hormones, all play a factor in growing hair and nails. Many women are walking around imbalanced and don’t even know it. Many definitely don’t consume enough natural vitamins. My hair grows fast in spurts, even more when I pay attention to what I consume

So you’re saying God decided to give some women growing hair and others not? Y’all are sick. Everyone has fast growing hair, everyone cannot so the same things to get it. Black women need to learn their hair, individually, and do what works for them. Our hair, generally, loves moisture most of all and being left alone. Water, glycerin in a spray bottle (another humectant when the temps drop if you’re in America) and leave it alone, your hair will grow. Using natural ingredients without harsh surfactants also help. But water most of all.
