This was an awesome video. Pretty well explained. This has helped me a lot better to understand this controller. However I'd like to add my 2 cents. The power supply you are using is only rated for 8amp max draw. These leds are 90w per 16ft, when fully lit at 5V this has a max amp draw of 18amp. For this reason, according to the amazon listing of the strip the suggested power supply should be rated for 20amp, and this totally makes sense. If you keep adding led strips in parallel, wattage will add up, hence amp draw. In other words if you add 2 (ws2812b) strips, wattage will be a total of 180w, at 5V we are talking a max amp draw of 36amp. You'll kill that power supply rated for 8amps. I don't think there is a power supply rated for that current draw, so my best bet would be to use a 5v 20amp rated power supply for each 16.5ft of led strip. Good luck!
you dont need to connect the vcc and gnd to the strips from the controller if you have power running to them from a power supply (make sure your power supply can handle 2 strips using oms law) you only need to connect the date cable from the controller to the led strips. the vcc & gnd from the controller is just to make it easy for using one strip and one power input.
Just an FYI, white is actually ground and hence its not working. You gotta connect all 3 wires, one is ground, one is data in and one is power. White: GRD, Green: data, Red: power
IT'S ALL GOOD! HOW TO CONNECT 3 BANDS IN SEQUENCE? AND THEN CONNECTED AND AT THE END DARK, WHITE AND RED CONNECTED, GIVED NUTRITION, EVERYTHING IS DULL?!?
very informative I am in the same setup. I understand you need to power the less separately (if you have multiple) like your video show. my question is instead of wiring the led together with the controller can't you just connect the 2 lens together?
very nice i like your tips.i just wondering to know about end of the strips there have wire.for the what the reason the wire there have.you did not explain.can you tell me please?
i have connected the red wire that you have taped to positive imput of the controller so into positive imput of the controller i have two wires one of the power supply and the red wire that you taped
300 LEDs, white is the most consumer at 50mah per led So if you plan to use white Let's do the math 300 LEDs × 50mah = 15000 milliamps ( 15amps) Remember you use 80% of the capacity so you need like 18amp power supply or avoid white on your daily use. Or choose sk6812rgbw strips
hello , would you like to try 12V version ? and if one led faild work, the rest keep working , the strip in you video have voltage drop and if one led faild work, the rest not working, right ?
I'm breaking my head trying to find 2 light strips for 2 rooms, one is 44ft and the other 70ft and don't know what to go with. I'm a HomeKit user but understand some of these controllers mostly support Alexa and Google, but if they're WIFI I could use the manufacturer app to control the lights. I'm not sure if 5v is better than 12v but see people saying that you need to inject power if using a 5v light strip to avoid power drop. Have you used the sk6812 rgbcw light strip?
Sorry to hear that. There must have been faulty equipment somewhere in your setup. Or you might have made a mistake in working. I have went through both scenarios, my fault and faulty equipment. Both suck when it happens.
@@oscargo29 It was a faulty green/black female power connector. I removed it and run it straight through the box no problem so no need for all this it looks like...Just follow the guide that come with the box. also i use a 144led m and a 5v 10amp supply
Im having an WS2812 15m that made 5mx3 if i want to make it all just as one 15m length can i just make the power cable connect at the master ( which is the front one) and at the end i just connect them wire to wire in order to connect the new 5m led or i need to add new power cable as shown in your video to every 5m? And also would you recommend the right power supply for me to connect 15m as just one length
Привет! Можно подключить параллельно несколько лент, максимальной длиной 16 метров(960 пикселей) или мы всего можем подключить параллельно до 16 метров ленты?
Okay.. I understood. But, if I have to cut the led inbetween and solder them to extend from 5m to 15m? Is it the same way? Should I give power supply to all 3 sets of 5meters? Can you please tell me how can I do this.. I have sp107e connected to WS20812b led strip. (3 of 5meters) but the last set is glowing of different colour.. what is the fault.
Im curious, too. I havent powered mine on yet as Im waiting for a power supply 5v 10a and 50 watt. You stated that your third meter started acting funny? Were the 1st 2 ok? Where in the third strip did it start acting up!?
Доброго дня!! Такая проблема, при подключении к контроллеру, выдает сообщение"chek failed". Может кто сталкивался с данной проблемой, буду признателен за любую подсказку, любой совет. Спасибо.
Sorry, I thought I put it in description. Model is WS2812B. Bought some at various locations. Ebay, Amazon , and even from China. Shipping from china took about a month. There are different amount of LEDs count and different type of waterproof ratings to pick from. Read descriptions carefully before you buy and select options you really want. Good luck. www.amazon.com/BTF-LIGHTING-Flexible-Individually-Addressable-waterproof/dp/B01CDTEJBG/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=WS2812B&qid=1597767147&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1
@superlightingled I have 2 strip of ws2812b 5meter. Total 10meter 60/m 5volt. Can you tell me which adapter will be better 5v 20amp? Or 5v 10amp? I m using arduino to program. Thanks
Yes ,if you get the right voltage with enough amps. I have different sets and each has different requirements. Make sure you match Voltage that your LEDs require. Mine are 5v One says: Recommended power supply:DC5V20A (100W) Other one says: Recommended power supply:DC5V6A (30W) I am using a 5V 10A power supply with multiple LEDs and multiple SP107E's connected to them. They all work with no problems. A lot less then requirement. Up to you to follow your LEDs requirements or if you want to try smaller one like I did. I using 2 of these www.amazon.com/ALITOVE-Converter-100-240V-Transformer-5-5x2-5mm/dp/B0852HL336?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
@@oscargo29 Basically I jumped into this like a dumb ass. I have 600 leds laid out on a board in rows of 20 with soldered connections- amatuerly done. I ordered a 5v 10 amp 50 watt power supply, but the started reading that Id need significantly more power. I know theres splitters and I may have to make another power connection after 300 leds. I looked up a heavy duty power like a 5v 60 amp, but that just raises other questions. Kinda feel like Im in over my head and I just started. If I buy a second 5v 10 amp power supply would I run that power in series after 300 leds (basically in the middle, or at the end?
I gave the video a like. I have the ws2812b and I can’t seem to get it to turn on. I’m doing a headlight retrofit and they don’t turn on at all. Is there anything I need or have to do?
You have to give it correct power. My WS2812B say to provide it with only 5v. Automotive battery is 12v. Find the correct voltage power source. 5v 2a is good start. First setup the LEDs in your home to see that they even work before you try in automobile. I haven't tried that. So I'm just guessing that's your problem.
oscargo29 the controller is connected to the converter. And is directly connected to the car battery. I’ve tested it and the leds worked. But now I just can’t seem to find the issue.
@@oscargo29Something similar happened to me, I had a 12v eliminator turned on once and then it turned off, would it be that my LEDs have blown or is it not the correct eliminator?
Hello. I bought mine from Amazon. But they are sold Ebay and lots other electronics stores. Search DC power splitter and you'll find them. Just select how many ways you need it to be split.
