That 'Mother-in-Law' cabin... how is someeone supposed to live in there and then be fresh for work?

You didn’t seem particularly enthused Toby? I remember a review that you did of a big Amel some time ago and you very obviously loved it. This Beneteau - not too sure that you did lol

Only provision for one anchor! Acess to and from the side decks not ideal, and step ups on the side decks going forward? Not a serious yacht, another 'party boat' for marina hopping.

I love the way the majority of the boats in your videos are actually sailing. Awesome work my man, keep them coming!!

Nice review, Toby. What I think so many people miss about the design brief for new yachts is that the people buying them just don't have a lot of time to spend aboard and they're not the sort that's going to be faffing around the boat all the time "preparing" instead of sailing. The boat should be ready to leave the dock 20 mins after arriving in the parking lot, or 5 minutes while moored at port. Everything here is placed where you think it should be, looks easy to use, and accommodations appear to be ample and straight forward. I love the lifting floor panels and access to systems. Provisioning, load-in, and load-out is all easier with the twin wheels providing a straight path from bow to stern. Flat decks and aft helm equate to easy monitoring by the owner-skipper who is sailing the boat and pulling double-duty to keep an eye on guests / kids / minors. The tender garage with winch tremendously simplifies shore trips while on the hook and keeps the aft deck clean and free of unnecessary windage while underway. Big beefy stern cleats and cockpit access to the garage make deploying a lunch-hook off the stern or fetching water toys / snorkel gear a lot easier than diving head-first into deep lockers. The advances now with drifters and code-zeros deployed off a dedicated sprit mean the boat stays moving in the calms and prevents complaints from the First Mate, but could still turn in a good fun-run at local regattas. Each cabin has good ventilation with private barf boxes and hot water showers. Brand spanking new Yanmar sitting there will never require more from me than checking the dipstick and topping off the oil. Man alive, sign me up 👍

I understand these boats are built to a price point. How ever I still cannot accept that it is acceptable in this dayvand age to deliver a squeaking new boat. Even Dacia manages to produce cars that don't squeak. I really wish the french manufacturers would work on production/building processes that eliminate squeaking no boat younger than 5 years should squeak. Otherwise great review, got a good insight into the boat.

Yes, they are built to a price point of a meager 1.5-2 million. And they still squeek. 😂

Its got the sacrificial windward rudders & the wierd sole arrangement that looks silly & is silly. I'm fairly sure they havent bothered with water tight compartments, bulkheads & doors either.

3 heads unnecessary. The galley is transverse, how does that help the cook when rolling /healing? What is that little stub of cabinetry that projects from the galley into the living space for?

Toby...it would really help if you prefaced a review by putting the yacht in context to 1) the design brief / mission and 2) the competition. Yachts of the same length can have cost differentials of 3x or more and therefore they are not in the same market.

The cockpit is nicely spacious, I like a lot of cupboards and drawers, but considering the price, I still don't understand how beneteau has not yet discovered how to solve the squeaky floor on their "flagship" product?

As a former yacht crew member, I'm always disgusted at how little comfort these small boats provide for crew, who work long hours, sweating and serving owners. I wouldn't ever take a crew position on a boat like this, being shunted forward like this into the sail locker! In my opinion crew should always be aft, close to the helm for sailing, especially at night. And for owners, surely the health and well rested crew is of the ultimate importance for the owners safety. Remember, when under way, the owner and guests can doze off anywhere onboard, and generally do on the cockpit cushions, or saloon sofas. The crew needs proper sleep to be able to carry out their professional jobs, and keep everyone safe onboard.

I actually agree. As someone who has seen plenty of ocean, the aft is most stable and premium space. Ideally the aft should be split into two cabins with twin bunks each, to aid in sleeping when heeled over. I would put the gen set, batteries, inverters, laundry all forward to minimize noise. MAYBE even a forward kitchen so the dishwasher is forward. All trying to keep the aft quiet for off watch crew sleeping.

Is it possible to sail with this 60-foot boat with just me and my wife? In her case, she is short. I'm still trying to get into the world of sailing, and I'm considering a 36-foot sailboat, but my dream is to buy one that is 50 feet or larger to accommodate 6 people. 2 adults 3 kis and maybe 1 guest.

Ugh another ightweight Racing Hull on what's supposed to be a ruising Sailboat. Pass, and I havent even checked if it has Really Stupid Twin Rudders yet, as clearly there is no point even going that far to check. I stopped watching once the words First Hull 5 tons lighter appeared, as it was absolutely pointless to continue . Meanwhile Toby Continues to Drool during the Beneteau Advert. 🤔 sigh. I really don't like clicking the Thumbs Down Button, but it is starting to happenbtoo often with a Magazine that appears to have completely lost the Plot, and all that matters is Money from Review Advertising. Im old enough to remember when this Magazine still had sound Principles . 😔
@yachtingworld
@yachtingworld Год назад
We don't make any review advertising money from this! As I have explained numerous times, I try to show video tours from yachts I get the chance to see aboard or sail. It's as simple as that. The reviews go in the magazine.
