Standard Yamato scenario ^-^ Once the Earth fleet is destroyed, they decide to send up the Yamato, tear up the opposing fleet and begin to build another useless fleet to throw at the next enemy to win time to repair the Yamato... I would like an AMV with Sabaton, maube Dreadnaught or Bismark, that's the two songs that come to my mind atm.
I'm 50 soon, and will always remember this as my favorite cartoon series I would watch before school. Yes better than GIJoe HeMan Robotech, all of them, StarBlazers 100% the best !
I'm a touch older, but Star Blazers was part of my morning routine before school. Also have a solid place in my heart for Johnny Quest and Space 1999. Regarding the video, I absolutely love the 'Space Battleship Yamato 2199' remake of the show's first season. Love the original sound effects, retained character and ship designs. Also like the slightly retuned story a bit more than the original. Largely as our older memories of the original don't look as good on 4k screens as this easy on the eyes reboot. Not as familiar with the later series, which is also incorporated into this video, but at least the first season is great. One of the better reboots ever.
Starblazers was my first exposure to this series, it was lame compared to the Yamato anime Japan got but the 2199 and up reboots are outstanding and an excellent example of melding CGI and traditional animation techniques. Love them and planning to get them for my collection
Lyrics: Legends never die When the world is callin' you Can you hear them screaming out your name? Legends never die They become a part of you Every time you bleed for reaching greatness Relentless, you SURVIVE They never lose hope When everything's cold and the fighting's near It's deep in their bones They'll ride into smoke when the fire is fierce No, pick yourself up, 'cause Legends never die! When the world is calling you Can you hear them screamin' out your name? Legends never die! They become a part of you, a part of you Every time you bleed for reaching greatness Legends never die! They're written down in eternity But you'll never see the price it costs The scars collected all their lives When everything's lost They pick up their hearts and avenge defeat Before it all starts They suffer through harm just to touch a dream Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause Legends never die! When the world is calling you Can you hear them screamin' out your name? Legends never die! They become a part of you Every time you bleed for reaching greatness Legends never die! When the world is callin' Out your name Beggin' you to fight Pick yourself up once more Pick yourself up, 'cause Legends never die! When the world is calling you Can you hear them screamin' out your name? Legends never die! They become a part of you, a part of you Every time you bleed for reaching greatness Legends never die!

In the OS the Yamato was the original ship that got repaired and retrofitted, but in the 2199 reboot it was a new vessel built to look like the Yamato.
Humanity started the war, got trounced by the garmillan fleet and was then bailed out by the Iscanderuns who gave them the wave motion engine which humanity (the people who started the war) then used to power a super weapon with continent destroying capabilities, and somehow Starsha was then surprised that the aggressors in a war had turned something that she herself knew could be used as a weapon, into a weapon, I mean come on, what did she expect? and after all this we are supposed to see humanity as the good guys? I mean sure the garmillan empire is a brutal dictatorship and was looking for an excuse to go to war with earth, but opening fire on alien ships unprovoked is a pretty hard thing to justify.
As someone who actually watched SBSY This is true on how these events unfold and also rely sad. So even-though they are fictional, I salute you fallen soldiers!
I think the spinning motion is supposed to imply a slightly different technology & method for FTL travel. I like how each faction/civilization has its own "signature" when they exit warp - it shows the viewer who's ships they are.
Thats one of the plot in the series the alien race that gave humanity this tech had the same question and humanity promised to not use the tech for such use but hey humans will be humans and they lied and built a fleet of yamato betraying the alien race that gave them the tech.
Thing was, they *did* use it to make a massive fleet of WMG-equipped ships, while not as elegant as Yamato could dish out just as much damage. But the thing was, the galaxy is massive. For every half dozen or so races that abide to honor and peace, there are a dozen more that *absolutely* do not care. Would you rather struggle through diplomacy against an enemy that genuinely does not give any shit? Or have a capable force that can challenge their tyranny and tell them they are *not here to fuck around?* Humanity already experienced how it felt to suffer from the Garmillas. They could've easily done the same but that wouldn't make them any different. So, they kept their forces in defense of their system, their home.
dont get me wrong, I absolutely love the series. it's one of my all time favourites. but if every ship dies to one cannon blast, why build these massive ships with multiple cannons? when a single fighter with 1 of those cannons could to the same effective thing while being a smaller target and also losing less lives when the ship inevitably gets destroyed. conversely yamato takes several hits and survives the whole series (protagonist powers and all ya) it just feels weird. what happened to the shields the other ships had at the beginning?
Kind of one of my issues with sci fi stuff like this. One hit and your massive ship explodes. What's the point of building massive ships and who in even their broken mind would go on such suicide machines
Because the larger ships often don't die in one hit, especially come 2202 and 2205. Yamato actually *has* shields, hence why it's so resistant alongside being, at the time the newest warship earth had. Plot armour helps a bit but it comes quite close to being destroyed many times. It's also got weaponry that the others couldn't utilize due to it's unique reactor, hence why it can often knock out ships much more easily.
Que maquina de combate fantastica. Tudo aquilo que conseguimos imaginar, desenhar ou pensar, podemos criar e dar vida. Que o SBY-2199 um dia seja realidade.
It's from the 2199 film, circa 2192, and that's only because they managed to get their spinal-mounted shock cannons off, the Garmillans and their second-class soldiers got wise very quickly that any frontal assault would give the Terrons an easy chance to use these weapons and switched to full saturation with planet bombs, not even giving them the opportunity come 2199 to go head-on with their ships. But while the main high-pressure beam cannon turrets of the Earth vessels were all but useless due to the treated armor the Garmillans used, UNCF missiles and other projectiles were still effective against smaller warships, hence how Yukikaze was able to score a kill at Pluto.
What i wonder every time i watch this anime: where do they keep all this ammo? They should need at lest 5 transport ships for refueling all that ammo.🤨
In the original series, one of the first episodes featured a compact factory aboard the ship that demonstrated building a futuristic vehicle as a demo of how the ship would be able to resupply and maintain itself along the way. In the newer series there was mention of not wanting to think too hard about the high quality food supply, largely because the ship's synthesizers were obviously recycling materials. So robotic factories in the former series and something more sophisticated in the latter. The ship's power plant isn't the limiter, so something a few steps down from a Trek Replicator might be imaginable for securing or re-refining raw materials found along the way.
If I remember correctly, it's from short (maybe 30 minutes?) that was/is available on the Bandai site (?) It gave some background and additional info on the characters and events leading up to 2199. There was a link in another videos comments for it. I bookmarked it but can't find it now... 😓
The yamato is great an all but it is the worst battle ship do you know why it has to many guns making it slow the metal walls are very thin and there are
