I'd be curious if block deformation from surrounding blocks would also set it off. If you are sending a warhead at an enemy and surround it with armour blocks to protect it, are you better off leaving air space around it or will it be okay with the blocks right up next to it?

I know what you mean. It would be nice to ne able to contain the blast with like heavy armor or other blocks to minise the damage it can do.

Not quite what I meant but how much protective blocks reduce the explosion would also be good to know. I'm meant that if you put protective blocks around the warhead, throw it at and enemy and their guns shoot the protective blocks, will those blocks being damage and deforming into the warhead cause the warhead to explode.

Oh ok now I get it. Would be a good thing to know when armoring up a ship if you ask me.

There's one thing you didn't try: the engineer

Lol, I think the engineer will die regardless the result haha.

Interresting result. Gotta try it out for myself... A 1000 times at least.

Also, to answer @Samuel BIGAULT 's comment, I tried setting off warheads with my engineers. I already tested the sensibility of the warheads and something as small as a SINGLE Space Credit can set it off, but stupidly enough, not even an engineer with a backpack containing hundreds of thousands of them. And yes, the engineer will always die in survival.

I dropped a single Clang cola and it went boom!

I have an experiment: can you make a gravity gun in atmosphere? Either with wheels of a piston. The only thing is that your projectile is an armed warhead. Anyway, as always, nice vid, and keep up the great work in the name of sci... CLANG!

I made one with a warhead and an artificial mass block only. I guess you need a grav gen, but that stays in orbit.

Found your channel recently, and I've really been enjoying your experiment videos. Just a note about the thrusters thing: early on in SE, some cargo ships (in particular, I remember this with the Military Minelayer) would be boobytrapped with a hidden reverse thruster and a warhead. If you tried to stop the ship using dampers, it would detonate the warhead. Particularly nasty with the military minelayer, since it would also detonate all the warhead mines it's carrying. I know a few other cargo ships did the same, but I don't remember which ones. This was probably removed with the economy update, since they started making the (now faction-owned) cargo ships actually stop and visit trading stations, which would cause them to explode when they are approaching.

How about a shoulder Rocket launcher

This was actually thought inducing xD Let me explain. I had been prototyping a rotorcannon (basically a bunch of rotors that compress and then extend, catapulting the head of the last one and whatever might be attached (say, a warhead) Also rotorcannons are not an original idea of mine, i just stumbled upon that tech and decided to try it out xD). So, thing is, station based, works wonders as an artillery cannon (launches a small projectile (mergeblock+warhead) at a bit less than 5km (in alien planet gravity). Small ship though, it works for a few shots until i turn, then the system clangs and, while it eventually re-aligns, it doesn't generate the projectile again. Now, your tests showed that the wheel doesn't detonate the warhead, so i'm thinking... would it be possible to have a "wheel-cannon", where let's say we build a warhead+mergeblock, then mergeblock de-attaches, and the wheels start turning at... idk, lot's of speed xD, propelling the projectile out of this "cannon" at "N" speed. Theoretically (thanks to your test) wheels attached to suspensions don't damage the warhead... so theoretically they should be able to launch a projectile.
