The Console blocks, no contest. I have an on-again-off-again ship project sitting on my hard drive. I wanted the bridge to have a big "command center" vibe, meaning lots of stations. I initially went with Spacebar's Yamato-esque consoles but later decided to look for something else, so in the meantime I filled the place with standard control seats until I found something better. With the adoption of the new Console block family I can finally announce that my ship project is "COMPLETELY VANILLA".
@@Zer0sLegion In fact, the functions they have added are for Xbox and PlayStation users, because they cannot use scripts like on PC, and the scripts have a greater variety of functions than the vanilla blocks.
I cant wait to really get useage out of the relay. In theory, if you use timer blocks as "Logic Flip Flops" you can make a signal multiplexer, and get far more than "100" channels out of a relay. What i need that many channels for? no clue. Ill have to make a problem to fit the solution just to say i did it
I haven't been playing recently bc of life,, but god I love SE so much, this game has come so far like I'm STILL impressed that they added planets and moons.
I hope they expand them further. I would like to have Doors, Ladders, Air vents, button panels and LCD screens that fit snug into that same inset wall shape. I know that's asking a lot but the blocks to me, along with the corridors set a new standard I'd like the next round of cosmetic additions to match.
I love that space engineers has been consistently been releasing new blocks that make it so that we have more to build with and new function, ive bought every dlc because they are genuinely beautiful and i never feel like the break the game to not have
I can see a use case for allowing signals from everyone; if you have a station that you want to act as a hub for multiple factions there could be a number of actions you want anyone to be able to perform such as opening a docking bay.
Th one person which is the reason why i like space engineers has just posted a video, and was unseen since 6 month, ngl i though you stopped space engineers and i am too braindead to go see twitch for some reason ... nice seeing you again !
God I love the new broadcast controller. I was able to do all of that with scripts before, but just like in Minecraft using commands feels just worse than using the vanilla blocks. I already experimented with sending digital signals via the relay and it works amazing. Currently working on an automated connector assignment system, that tells approaching drones where the, can land. (Useful if you have more drones than connectors)
It would be cool that programming would be more accessible and even having the capability to use camera for artificial vision. Custom seeking missiles would be very common. Also being able to see cameras on the displays would be very useful as well
the accept signals from everyone would allow for automated docking control information. Cargo ship approaches a trade station, they send signal, stations automatically relays information on which docking ports are available based on what's connected or not.
i wonder if you could perform counter intelligence operations by hooking one of these up to a programing block and programing it to use a timer block between multiple relays to scan ALL channels.
New to space engineers I really wanna use these new blocks to make combiner elements to builds but I'm still working on the auto docking/connecting lol
The relay blocks are 100% the best addition. The uses are extensive. trigger hanger bay's from your ship, activate a return home script if you die with a ship that doesn't have a spawn point or its been damaged, you can get drone reinforcements from multiple base locations now, just so much can be done.
@@Zer0sLegionWell, I've been following the game even before the planets update, and it was long criticized for having a bad initial player experience, which is actually improving a lot in recent years. Instead of focusing on stuff that is interesting to implement, they focus more on the player experience. It's certainly a good thing, game developers mature and improve the game in places where it lacked for years.
That wifi blocks is great as outpost defence tower to alert you when enemy approaching without their antenna turned on. Instead of stealthy approaching you until they're 2km close.
I tried the new doors with the ducts too, hopefully Keen will add that... Also I've noticed something that I don't think anyone has touched on, the in-game music & the music from say a Jukebox doesn't run with the same option in the menu. I've always hated how if I wanted to use the Jukebox, I'd have to listen to it with the normal background music overlapping but I think Keen fixed that🤔👍
They need to add the control grid option for the wireless controller so we can much quicker control certain grids rather than have to dig through menus to find it
I'm only new to the game and not gotten up to a jump drive yet but can you not link a event controller to a jump drive and a light or the new message block to tell you when it at 100%?? I was hoping you could.
The reason the "Claim NPC Grid" doesn't show up is because all the NPC grids need to be deleted so the NPC grids can spawn with that option, because if you don't delete all the NPC ships you will never see the new option because they were around before the update, so you have to force the NPC grids to spawn with the new features. I had the same issue until i deleted all the NPC ships and when they respawned they had the option to claim there Grid straight after.
Neat idea. I have something like that with Railguns and the event controller to tell me they're recharged and ready but it looks like that's a bit redundant now after the update.
Also the new block they teased it's called "(ProductionBlock) Assembler" Like i mean no offense to Keen but they did a poor job at blurring out the words. It can be easily read next time they need to black box the words so people can't make the name of the block straight away!.
For some bizarre reason I feel strongly compelled to like and subscribe after watching this video. Too bad I already did so now I can't scratch that itch..
Haaa finally an update video that does not only make a superficial description of the block but explain somewhat their functions. EXCEPT ONE : Please test the Claim NPC grid, because it does not work as you think.
I am gonna use this gladly. Thanks. This is gonna be so fun! Other than having new ways for others to kill me faster and easier than they already can...
Would be cool if cokpits and steering consoles would have option of custom keybinding and mouse sterring added to actions like movement of specific rotors/hinges and pistons.
I was initially disappointed with how little was added after so long since the last update, but small improvements they've added along with the main stuff is really nice still
Welcome back! Finally, you bring another great video! I saw the live stream announcement of this new update, and to be honest I was surprised when they showed the possibility of staking anything!!! A quality of life feature that is very useful! As for the new blocks, they are all very well thought out. The new update to the antenna is very useful and necessary for a long time. The new blocks with built-in lights are really good! In your opinion, wouldn't it also be necessary to refresh the Gatling Turret (+more weapons)? If they are investing a lot in the next update related to exploration, I hope they don't forget to add some kind of door+connector to be able to move between ship and base even without a space suit. Keep up the excellent videos! (I already missed it lol)
Stackable Tools! yay! um... how do you Un-stack them? I accidentally put my tools in the storage, and now I have to carry 0, or 5 welders. nothing in between..... Also, can't wait till someone puts LCARS skin on those console blocks
The way I track jump drive charging is by watching my power bars on the bottom of the screen. The jump drive's a power hog while charging. I'll see it running at, say, 20% power usage while the drive is charging. Then the power usage drops to 8%. Time to jump!
I worked on something like this Years ago, transferring info using an antenna, but it was, frustrating.. They changed the code around that time and broke everything I’d done, so I walked away.. I’d built a massive ship that could build new ships, find asteroids, mine them, process them, and expand. It was designed as a self-supplying rest station, for people who needed more fuel, oxygen, anything.
my first thought was "oh! so you select the grid you want to send signal to and then the action, right?" only to see that it works on channels, from 1 to 100 no less while yeah, works great for stuff like, i honestly dont know, sending a 'follow me' signal to all drones?? its going to be a complete nightmare in multiplayer imagine you're working on said 'follow me' signal for drones, havent bothered to change the default settings, or, by chance, set it to the same channel (its only 100 options) as your faction-mate's secret emergency mines, what happens when you test your drone signal? it will also activate the mines, since the Action Relay that sent the signal doesn't control the action I kinda get why they went with radio frequency thing, but the issue it solves could've been solved with just more Action Relays, you can't solve the limited amount of channels this way, 100 really doesn't seem like a large number if you want to use these things "oh ill use one to start the rockets" "oh ill use one for the emergency turrets" "oh ill use one to call my ship back" etc etc, a simple custom frequency tag, like a password or something, could've worked imagine the nightmare if you have the Action relay set to everyone from some reason, an enemy player can litteraly place 100 action relays and have all of them spamming on all channels
That's 100 channels personal for you, 100 for each faction and 100 for everyone to share AND each channel can trigger up to 100 actions each. It shouldn't really be an issue.
ONE thing i want to know, did they fix falling into planets ? If they fixed it, i will come back and play the game again. Just this one bugfix. I dont need crazy new blocks. I need only this, and i am in, again.
For the EVERYONE option, you could set up a station hangar with retractable landing pads and a broadcast controller that tells approaching ships what channel they need to be on for the chosen landing pad to extend out for them.
Hi, regarding the last part (related to controlling a ship like in Star Trek), can't you use a remote controller while manning any of those console stations?
Welcome back!! Since they teased pve update in the works what is the best pve mod or mod combo to get the best pve experience in space engineers right now?
