Matt is an absolute alien of a monster player as always, but the first thing I noticed was just how much Matt has changed into his current Gigachad form, crazy beef
That's Gigachad++ actually, I mean it's beyond anything anyone else really has gotten to except maybe Weckel or Colaiuta....definitely some Donati sprinkled in there, but more like a hybrid of all in pure magical form hence the double ++, so double ++ equals ++++ so all silliness aside it's Gigamatt++++
Those grooves are like nightmares to a beginner who's trying to understand what's going on! But an enigmatic dream, for us who understand what's going on , still have to bargain with ourselves to be able to accomplish those rudiments. And the bargain is, lose sleep or learn the methods!
Matt - I bought this in combination with your ebook. Just wanted to say that having loops, and then your transcriptions to mess around with the concepts has changed my playing /practice. An idea - if you had a bunch of loops for 4/4 pop stuff / stylistic stuff and then transcriptions of yourself playing to them, I’d be all over that. Stuff the average drummer might whip out on a bar gig / wedding gig. Just playing the Trinity loop and then going through all the ways you change the feel and being able to shed that - really has changed my practicing. Thanks!
@@HighDefBNG I love AAL my friend, but what Matt does here is quite different. This is much more flowy and atmospheric, almost like a soundtrack. AAL is aggressive, much more guitar focused and their songs try to catch your attention at every moment, which is a good thing aswell but a total different experience.
WOW!!. I wonder how Matt feels about us mere mortal drummers, the new drums sound great btw. I've watched it twice.. Had to slow some parts down to 0.5 speed to even figure out what he was doing.
Curious, Matt, how long do you just play over vamps like these during your practice? Does this comprise a large chunk of your shed time? Inspiring playing, man.
I wonder if this is his new practice spot mentioned in a recent video…ie his downstairs. Congrats on getting out of LA! I remember my 30 minute commute to the practice spot. Thankfully it’s a flight of stairs now.
Man I never knew Bono played drums at all much less this great. I sure hope U2 come out with an album real soon and maybe Matt Garstka can be on vocals.
hey Matt! I was just wondering, what heads do you use? I saw you changed from the Powerstroke 77 on the snare, and I think it sounds even better than before personally!
I either use a coated emperor or coated ambassador on the snare nowadays. Occasionally a coated vintage Ambassador. The Ambassadors have such n amazing snap but if I'm playing very aggressive music it will only last a song or two, but It can last me weeks in practice.
It's well disguised, it took me a while. Those middle eastern vibes are saucy, keep' em coming. I purchased and loved the loops by the way, I wish Trinity 795 was longer though. Big ups man.
Reminds me of celeste ost. Except the drums are way sharper, though the synth mixing is a bit worse. Edit: Honestly Matt you should collab with some crazy people like Camellia or something. You guys would make some absolutely fascinating music haha
