I really want to educate people on here because I feel like Memphis rap is getting gentrified and Russia is getting credit for the "creation" of drift phonk (shout out to them for bringing it back to life tho) , drift phonk isn't a new thing, it's literally just old Memphis rap instrumentals, the thing is that Memphis rap didn't always use cowbells it had other sounds too that's where all these other subgenres of phonk come from. When Memphis rap became popular back in the 2010s because of raider klan ect their new take on Memphis rap became called phonk.
