OMG LMFAO!! I loaded my kit plane into a rental truck for a five day trip back home! Snow chased us all the way! -20 F in Idaho! Closed the pass after we passed the gate!

Rear spar is 1"x3.25" spruce. I was working on a Citabria last week, it uses this for front and rear spar. Spacewalker front spar 2 of these in a plywood box. It does not seam to be the weak link in this design! CFX aero is designing a carbo fiber wing (with same external appearance) that I'm sure will save some serious weight. The Sportster (follow on to the Spacewalker, it was seen in this video if you look carefully) uses aluminum spars and ribs, also lighter.

Thanks for the video. Good design for a rag and tube homebuilt. I'm interested in finding a home for an O-290 I have on hand. Probably the biggest headache for this airplane is sourcing the wood for the spars. Some of the usual sources are drying up on spruce supplies.

Wow. I've been interested in these airplanes for a bit, but didn't know there was still a community around them. I really like the tandem seating, open cockpit, low wing, stick and throttle quadrant design! I'm not sure I'm ready for a plans-built design, but if there was a good kit available with a good community around it, I would be all over it!

Hi Redchrome; there are still parts and assemblies floating around. Worst case you could buy the tubing and get someone to weld it up; for a welder it's not a complicated job. CFX aero is able to sell completed fuselages in North America (either supplied as cut and bent tubing you can weld/get welded, or as fully welded). They are working on carbon fiber wings and some other "upgrades" (keeping the same look). The follow on design (Sportster, seen in this video a few times) was just purchased and will return to (kit) production in a year or so.

I can see a resemblance to a design in an old EAA reprint of 1928-1932 Flyer and Glider manuals. My last aircraft build was a Pietenpol Sir Camper that I had to modify to meet weight and balance for an old Subaru engine in place of the original Model B Ford engine. Seems that those are hard to come by LOL
