@@GrayLZ I dont think he got pissed at Anthony for giving TBD a low score. All I remember in him addressing the controversy was him saying critics were allowed to have wildly different views on something, and that it wasn't room to create unnecessary drama.

I enjoy watching Anthony’s reviews but he has always hated most pop punk so giving Green Day a 0 was pretty much expected. In fact, with this album, he’d probably only give this album a 4 at best. It’s just not for him

I'm so enthralled and happy to see critics catching on to this band. It's so incredibly validating seeing a band I love so much getting so much praise. This album was better than newcomers and established fans like myself could've ever hoped for, it really is an absolute masterpiece!

37willdog As much as I enjoy ARTV’s content, I can’t help but feel that score was fueled by his strong love for Green Day (which I understand). I can already see it shrinking on him overtime. I didn’t realize how bad MANIA truly was until a year after as I was blinded by my love for FOB.

I don't normally comment on these, but I just wanted to say that as a long-time viewer, this is the first Spectrum Pulse review since... gee, Astoria? that has convinced me 100% that I needed to hear the album. Seriously impressive review. (Seriously impressive album, too. Not my usual cup of tea, and not sure how often I want to return to it, but I audibly said "holy shit" and "mother fuck" while listening so... yeah.)

I had no idea what to expect with this album going in. I had zero knowledge of Spanish Love Songs or any of its singles. Now that I've spun it fully... yeah, it hit. It hit hard. And it is SO topical in this current day and age. Looking forward to giving this one a lot more spins in the future.

Honestly one your best written reviews to date mark really well done. This is one of those "too real" kind of albums for me personally I felt like I was on the edge of breaking down the whole time.. if only I wasn't numb to it all maybe I would have. Thank you for the recommendation here this is the kind of emotional gut punch our generation needs right now and I'm left feeling pretty stunned with how on point everything is here. This certainly is a generational defining album

This album is a work of high art. The way it uses and transforms the tropes of emo music to outline the toll political issues take on people is something truly special. I always found the genre silly, but everything that could theoretically work about emo absolutely does here. I feel like now I understand how the people who got into emo as teenagers felt, because this album is so real and so powerful.

PUP was my favorite album of last year and had a similar thematic through line, so I'm only hoping this would be on that same level for me...and possibly have it rule my year like PUP did last year.

Last thing I expect to hear in an SLS review is a Lydia Loveless mention... tried out to be her bassist back in 2010. She's good people. SLS are fucking awesome. Got to see them two months in a row last year. First, opening for The Wonder Years (talk about a one-two punch!), and then headlining in a small venue that holds like 250 people or so. Hung out with them after the show and they are so awesome. Dylan is great at interacting with fans, both in person and online. His lyrics are so powerful for those of us who have lived in this bullshit. And I'm 50 and Gen X, old enough to be some of the fan's (and band members!) parent. But life, is life, and being poor is poor. So I am right there on this album. They are one of the best discoveries I've had in years.
