In this video I service engine oil pump and fit a new shaft and rotor kit from Sparex.
Here is a link to the Kangaroo Stew where I bought it and got it running.

I'm astonished by the pumping capacity of that little thing. Also, good to know there is no gasket under the cap. I thought mine was missing for a minute. After you explained how it worked, I can see there couldn't possibly be a gasket. Thanks Lance.

Can't thank you enough for this series, Lance. Especially this episode as it's the first in-depth look at the Fergy pump I've seen. My poor old TEA20 starts out cold with the oil pressure gauge pegged far right but will slowly over fifteen minutes or so drop to about 10psi in warm weather. I'm hoping this retrofit will put it back in spec. I pulled the valve cover off to see if oil is making it to the very top of the engine and indeed it is, however I'd still like to see higher operating pressures.

Nice vid Lance, I like to use a bit of assembly grease in good used pumps to help lift the oil quickly on first start after a rebuild.

Hey Lance, another great video mate, I recently rebuilt the engine on my Tea20 and fitted an oil pressure gauge as there wasnt one.. it starts well and sits at 45/50 but gradually falls off as she warms up.. wonderd if this might be a good help or if there is other bits I should be looking at?? Tia Nick 🙂👍👍

That is what they commonly do as thew oil heats up it gets runnier. If it holds 10psi that is fine, they use flow of oil and not pressure so miuch to lubricate the engines.

Got my te20 running today for the first time in 32 years, had the valve cover off while it ran for about a minuet at idle and there was no oil coming up the the top, it’s filling the oil filter and pumping out of the gauge pressure hole, so my question is where does the oil exit at the top of the engine should I be able to see it? Thanks lance, this series of videos has been of great help to me ✅

On this series have a look at when I remove the camshaft and check the oil feed to the head. It may be gummed up on the back of the camshaft.

Seen another vid on RU-vid of a zetor tractor, apparently had no oil pressure because of the pickup pipe being able too twist around like that. But your pump seems too deliver a heap of oil
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
Interesting! This goes into a strainer that bolts into the sump so cant really move after fitting.

Hey lance. Is it normal for there to be no oil pressure reading on initial startup for about 5 seconds, then normal reading there after? What could be the reason? I rebuilt the oil pump with new internal and sanding the faces like you did in the vid. Very happy with oil pressure now (it was virtually at 0 when fully warmed before rebuild using 20w50 oil)
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
It just takes a few seconds as the oil can drain back when stopped. Sounds normal to me.

Sorry one more question lance, is there a gasket for the oil pump that attaches to the block? If I don't have one can I use rtv ultra black and just be very careful not to over do it and block the oil passage?
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
Yes but if you use some Loctite 515 or Bareco R51 it would be a netter choice than a silicone based product.

Hey lance. Is assembly lube absolutely necessary? I would have to buy some especially for this, otherwise will engine oil be ok? Probably won't start the motor for weeks after I tackle the job.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
No a bit of grease or oil is fine, just give it some lube.

Hi. Where the sucking pipe meets the oil pump casing there should be an oring to seal it? Can you answer this?
@BundyBearsShed

Yes I think so. Getting hard to remember back that far.

I noticed my sparex rotor has a chambered edge on both sides and not just one. This is ok right?
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
Yes the flat edge does the sealing, they might do that to stop any problems of fitting it the wrong way.

Hey lance. Did u have an issues with the pickup pipe being loose and able to rotate? I have a mf35 and mine was very tight, until I removed it. Now it turns quite easily. I've read it can suck air and cause pressure issues, do u think this is possible?
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
Check if there is an o ring up in the housing that may be hard and stuck.
@peterdabrowski2328
@peterdabrowski2328 2 года назад
@@BundyBearsShed nope there isnt one, looks like just a metal collar which has collapsed slightly when i removed the pipe. i have o-rings that could fit and ensure a snug fit, do you think i should put one in with a bit of RTV ultrablack to ensure a tight fit?

Hi. I need a camshaft bushing for the Ferguson FE35 87MM engine. I can't find it anywhere because it's not in any catalog. Can you please help me. Alternatively, what engine from another tractor model can you choose a replacement from?

@BundyBearsShed 3 года назад
No we cant help Im sorry, we are having trouble finding them also.
@autobox2000
@autobox2000 3 года назад
@@BundyBearsShed Ok. Thanks. The bigesst problem is to find the first camshaft bushing. Beacuse the next three (the smaller) are available from the engine od the Triumph TR3 and TR4.
