Watched this a few times in preparation the 2021 D.C. Stadion at Nationals Park a couple of days ago, and the course was very similar to what is shown in the video. Great source of pre-race intel, thanks for posting it.
I compete at this one and watching this race again ahead of the virtual race just brought back all the memories & emotions. It was nice to relive it again.
Great video! You have officially set off my anxious excitement about the 2020 May Stadion but I am really roaring on the inside to get at this race! Woohoo! Hope to see you on the ramps.
That is awesome to hear! My husband and my two sons are gonna be waiting for me at the end of the race. I hope we all can do one together in the future.
10:30 that me in the volunteer shirt on box jumps hahahaha! I ran that afternoon, first stadion ever, got traumatized with stairs the following day HAHA
I just signed up for my birthday weekend. My birthday is on the 11th and the run is on the 16th. Happy birthday to me, eh? lol Nice way for an old man to keep up with the young whipper snappers.
:11 seconds 😂👍 and herc hoist inside though 👎 that must've felt weird lol my first time at Fenway a few years ago they had rope climb inside and just wasn't the same. I'm glad they moved that out by the Green Monsta
Thanks for posting! Quick question- is there any reason not to do the later timed wave? With regular Spartans obviously it’s less muddy the earlier you go but can’t think of the downside here. Thanks!!
Stadiums tend to get verrrrrry crowded and is much harder to pass since it's all single track between the seats. So if you hate getting caught behind people, get into an earlier wave
Anyone can do this race, just a matter of how well. That being said, for stadium races I would focus on HIIT training (high intensity interval training). So do circuits of these similar obstacles. Slam balls, ram burpees, jump rope, ect. Outside of that, just strictly running in general. Either way you'll have a great time and crush it 👊💪
9 years ago my enlisted physic would have embarrassed this course.. I would surely die if I attempted it now just wanted to ask about the "low crawl" we always considered, what I saw done doing, to be a high crawl
Signed up for this with my friend at Nats Park on my bday (may 16th!!) Any tips? Not really sure what shoes I should wear (ie training shoes that I workout with or running shoes?) And do we bring water bottles or like a water bag? Also is it a good thing to wear an arm thing for phones? Thanks so much!!
I'd personally advise to wear trainers since a lot of the obstacles are functional fitness based (slam balls, box jumps, ect). Either will be fine though honestly, either trainers or running shoes. As far as water, don't bring anything on course with you, there will be 2-3 water stations on course. No headphones are allowed on course so I would keep the phone away, although at stadiums there is no mud or water so you can bring it with you if you wanted to take it easy and take pictures of videos on course with friends
@@obstacleactivist9741 thanks so much!! Appreciate the fast reply, and just watching you and your gf made me tired but it's gonna make me train harder for the race!! Much appreciated!
If you race in the open division, you can skip any obstacle that you do not feel comfortable doing. If you fail or cannot do an obstacle, there is a burpee penalty. 15 burpees for a stadium race and 30 burpees for any other Spartan
Just be honest with yourself. Don't get me wrong, people can most definitely jump straight into the elite wave, but know where you stack up. If this is your first race, I personally recommend running age group to see where you're at first. It's still a competitive wave and you run by the same rules and standards as elite. Can always run next time if your time marches up
