That is part of the reason. But also it's a name given to every Spartan. As well, it was a term of respect since they were amazing fighters by elite standards.
The Orion project was made to deal with insurgents, not the Covenant as they hadn't invaded yet. The Spartan IIs were almost ready when the Covenant attacked the planet Harvest. The surgery they underwent was quite something, a true test of their physiology. The III and IV had better odds of surviving the surgery when compared to the II. Looking forward to the Halo vids.
So, this will be my guide to a perfect spartan: Step 1 Skeletal Structure) Reactivate growth the growth plates in the bone allowing the person to grow bigger I suggest no large than 8 feet tall. -Following the growth of the bone create an effect that causes the density of all connective tissue especially ligaments and tendons to increase dramatically increasing their toughness (People with a genetic disorder that causes them to have 8 time the normal bone density can take car crashes without breaking bones semi reliably). -Stem cell production should be increased in some manner this will lead to faster healing, and increased life span in extreme enough cases. Step 2 Muscular Structure) -The reason the tendons and ligaments need to be stronger is because the muscle strength of spartan's is going to be unrestricted by that I mean the spartan's will be able to use 100% of their muscular strength all the time so the stronger tendons and ligaments are their to keep them from hurting themselves though muscular control should remain intact so finer muscle movements are possible. -Unrestricted muscle growth in other words the muscles will grow to maximum capacity with relative ease though this should be limited to prevent a person from growing to much muscle, and becoming the tank from the last of us series. Step 3 Circulatory & Cardiovascular Systems) - Lungs will inhale to maximum levels whenever necessary to fuel the new much larger, and more oxygen intensive muscular and skeletal structures. -The heart will increase in size along with the other bodily muscles, and increased natural heart rate will be increased to help pump blood through out the body. - Veins and arteries will increase in size as well to keep blood pressure under control. Step 4 Nervous & Sensory Systems) -Increased production of natural pain killers to dull pain, but not remove it. -Unrestricted senses in other words your senses will be able to work at 100% capacity all the time along with necessary augmentations to the sensory organs, and ocipital lobe of the brain allowing the body to better handle the increase load of information. -Increased reflex arch formation to decrease the training time, and increase reaction times in combination with the increased sensory info. -Altered metabolism to keep the individual from tiring, and increased apatite to fuel all of the increased bodily functions along with allowing for decreased sleep times as a result of going strait into memory storage mode, and restful sleep mode reducing the time it takes to get a good nights rest also make room for more flexible sleep schedules making nocturnal activity much easier.
@@yourfrenghost3028 who says they are not? (If we ignor star wars fanboys) they were created by Emperor of mankind and that man probably knew what he was doing
Thanks for watching guys! If you are interested in that second channel which will be just pure science, here you go! ru-vid.com/show-UC_FEM9neZa0b6axVv6mCSmA Also, not really sure how I messed up the Insurrectionist thing. Guess I got too sidetracked on the rest of the idea in the video. The Spartans were infact created to combat insurrectionists which they are mentioned alot on reach. it just so happens the covenant showed up after we were already creating spartans. So amend that to the video
Hey Roanoke I was wondering why are the Spartans and mjolnir seen as having a price like if it's that in human extinction who gives a crap about money and price
Robert Miller Avid Halo fan who read a lot of the early books. The SPARTAN program was actually made doing some considerably immoral practice kidnapping and training children since they were 6 years old. The reason why its was given such flak was because the program was actually started before the Covenant (aliens) attacked. So the controversial moral practices actually began before humanity as a whole was threatened. So yeah also 1/3 of the kids going under the augments died from mutations and complications.
It’s pretty hard to tell what kind of economic system that the UNSC has- but given that there are some references to currency, it can be assumed that it is at the very least a hybrid economy. A government still has to pay its workers regardless of the economic system, but a capitalist state would have to pay for the fabrication of the materials and base materials themselves (don’t even get me started on the energy usage, development and production of the machinery needed to produce these materials, and the nightmare that is Human Resources.) and given that glassed planets don’t contribute to the UNSC after they’ve been glassed... yeah
Robert Miller Resources aren’t infinite thus they have a price tag, and normal people expect to work and live normal lives even with a war of this scale, disbanding an economy would do more to create chaos and greatly reduce humanities odds of survival. Its more important than ever in this scenario to keep the economy functional if you wish to sustain a galaxy wide war effort.
@@11Survivor I did a reference to Charlie, maybe you know him from the now called "Penquinz0" channel,or by the name of Cr1tikal,stop trying to be sassy m8
This is actually pretty incorrect about SPARTAN and ORION origin causes. They both were originally for the UNSC to combat Insurrectionists in the Outer Colonies, NOT to fight the Covenant. In 2525 (first contact with the Covenant), ORION was already shut down for years, and the Spartan II's (John 117's Spartan generation - the only successful, active-duty Spartans) were pulled from existing deployments against the Insurrection to react to the Covenant threat. Some of those initial Spartan counter-operations can be read about in two of the newest novels; Halo: Silent Storm, and Halo: Oblivion. That's an important piece of Halo lore you messed up there lol
weirdly enough, Playing reach I KNEW they were created for Insurrectionists, but my brain got waaayyy to wrapped up in the biology portion and I didnt even realize I said it was for the covenant first. That was a pretty big mess up lol
I mean, it's a biology based channel not a lore one. Roanoke paraphrased as to not spend the whole episode explaining the insurance and outs of the program and the immorality of it
incurser he didn't need to put in MORE info, just DIFFERENT info lol. Saying it's exclusively a biology-based channel isn't accurate when it's biology information rooted specifically in the lore of different universes. I think Roanoke himself said he meant to do it right and just accidentally said the wrong thing on the fly lol. Felt there was an opportunity there for me to inform people and let Roanoke know regardless.
Y'know, Prototype also had their own super soldier program, suspiciously also named Orion - well, these individuals of mass destruction were originally called D-Coders, but that's beside the point. Though, Blackwatch had an ace with their modified version of Blacklight... DX-1120, I believe. It essentially hand-held the process and just mutated humans into hulking, absurdly strong muscle men that _may_ have needed mind-numbing chemicals to properly command. I wonder how they'd stand against the Covenant. Even the sangheili would have trouble keeping up! The D-coders/ Orions were... incredibly strong.
Considering that Elites could often overpower the strongest Spartan lls although they were basically equals and that Brutes were even stronger than the Spartan lls and nearly killed John 117, i dont think hulking muscle mass is the key.
@@jester4057 Well you say that, and it might be true, but the D-Coders were hand-picked from the finest hand-to-hand fighters Blackwatch had. Blackwatch already being an international shadow military of the most well trained soldiers on Earth. So they weren't just blindly flailing at the fleshy abomination that Blacklight concocted. Also: you sure that sheer overpowering muscle isn't that helpful? The D-Coders were instrumental in combating several forms of infected that tore tanks apart like wet cardboard and leapt hundreds of feet to tackle pesky helicopters. Their whole advantage is that they punch really, really, _really_ fucking hard. They run through tanks and headbutt beings capable of shrugging of tank shells to the face.
@@thegreatandpowerfultwily394 Jackal Snipers would fuck up those huge targets. Get as buff as you like, plasma will melt right through all that in the most annoying, repetitive way possible
@@thegreatandpowerfultwily394 The Halo Universe especially the covenant use Plasma as their primary weapons system. In lore, marines recall not even being hit by the Plasma but still getting burnt, think what a wraith can do to a fully armoured Spartan ll with shields. While they can shrug off the kinetic impacts i dont think they will withstand heat that is on par with the sun. But yeah while punching hard may work in that universe, in a universe where you dont even need to be hit in order to be injured i dont think they would last all too long if they were put on Reach during the Winter Contingency for example.
I read an incredibly in depth vs match between D-code and covenant. Considering that the D-codes could run at nearly 100 mph, jump several story verticle leaps, destroy armored vehicles with only close combat, and throw objects with such force that they could down aircraft if the hit connected...the covenant did not fare well, as even strength wise the D-codes could take hunters in hand to hand combat. The D-codes actually won almost every vs breakdown they were put in and the only thing that came close to winning was the astartes.
Honestly, this was fucking amazing, halfway though this video I had totally forgotten why I was here because the information and the visuals were of the HIGHEST quality. I cannot stress this enough, this is supreme quality. thank you so much for blessing my eyeholes. Also, the use of GAME ENDING made me laugh out loud
this is the first video where i feel...."shaken", man anything that have anything to do with bones seem scary. but it's a good video as always, thanks roanoke
Ngl, you’re a dope ass RU-vidr. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone on this platform make human anatomy and science in general as interesting as you do. Keep up the good work!
Hey, love what your doing, but I was hoping you can look into the Monsters in Monster Hunter series. Some of the biology there could be awesome to see how you explain them.
Gotta agree. Every single Monster is a video in and of itself, and there are TONS of them to dissect (literally, too, since hunting is part of research in-universe!) :D
I just found this series last night but it’s been fascinating. Earned a sub right away. Amazing work dude, can’t wait to go through the rest of your channel.
I like how a lot of the imagery you used is from the company Amgen. They are responsible for creating Nplate which is the core reason I am alive and able to watch your videos. Thank you for including that visual demonstration from them!
I love halo so much, this video is awesome! I like how well it shows the numerous amount of changes the Spartans went through. Keep up the good work and have a nice day!
"May I ask you something? Your people used to call him Demon. Was that an insult, or a compliment?" "An insult to be sure, but one with a modicum of respect. He was indeed my enemy, but in time, I named him ally, even friend. The events which forged this bond are... Complicated." Conversation about the Master Chief between Spartan Locke and the Arbiter at the start of Halo 2: Anniversary.
This is an interesting topic because such modifications are an interest to me for writing and story purposes. That said, I'd be curious if you could do a series on Wolverine's physiology since his entire skeleton is covered in a nigh unbreakable metal I can only imagine he suffers considerable pain as his bones constantly pulverize and reform inside of their adamantine shells unless he's specifically stopped growing and his body adapted to this new, permanent handicap.
You missed how Masterchief also survived a fall from space. Note: in the books a dozen Spartan IIs survived a fall from space to Reach while another dozen die so it is a question of luck.
I know this video is a year old, so Roanoke has probably learned now, but project ORION and the Spartan 2 project tjat came after were created to help put down the insurrection. I'm sure Halsey would enjoy knowing people think that her Spartans were created to fight the covenant instead
Was playing this in the BG on auto play and at 0:49 my eyebrows furrowed. I almost thought I stumbled upon a bad channel until i realized that Roanoke just made an oversight lol.
The Spartans, especially John 117, were created to fight humans...not the Covenant. In the Bungie books, there are many instances where Spartans were overpowered in hand to hand combat against elites. Spartan Armor is the key difference, certain armor is seen as dishonorable for Covenant elites. I... miss the times when Halo lore was good.
Even Halsey says in in a cinematic on Halo 4 or 5? When Oni questions her about the reasons the spartan II program was made. Edit: the Oni officer questioning her says it. While she mentioned how they were ready when the covenant attacked.
Halo Lore still be good tho, cuz now it actually is mostly set in stone instead of Bungie's that shifted every couple of years and missed a lot of consistency
Queue rant: I love Bungie's Halo as much as the next fanboy but this comment is so fucking toxic and ignorant it needs a Halo to be fired just to cleanse it. 343 has at no point retconned any of Bungie's Halo lore. They have done nothing but act as a castodian to the original lore and have diligently expanded it into a massive sci-fi universe, most of which has a basis upon threads that Bungie themselves created. Even Joseph Staten has come back to contribute. The only ones to mess up the lore were Bungie themselves! Halo Reach completely ignored Halo Fall of Reach which was established well before it and was the source for all of the information in this video! 343 has had to try and come up with a canon explanation just to make sense of it all and make it fit together. Something Bungie never even bothered to do nor cared about. People who needlessly bash 343 forget that they were originally created for the sole purpose of handling everything Halo lore related outside of the games before Bungie left.
I'd love to see you cover the anatomy of different species in Warhammer 40K. Space Marines, Orks and the various species of Tyranid in particular would be really interesting
Fascinating video, btw. Impressive! The op sounds dreadfully painful... Broken bones are excruciating, and that would feel like all of them at the same time! Probably complete the operation in stages to improve survivability and management.
Interesting how much changes the human body have to go though, with details about the biology of the body and it functions, just to wear spartan armor and protect humanity great video
The Orion project and subsequent Spartan II program were created 10 to 40 years before the human Covenant war, they were created during the insurrection, a human civil war. The Spartan 3 program was the only program designed to specifically fight the covenant during the war. The Spartan 4 program came full swing after the end of the Human Covenant War in 2553
There are also modifications to nerve system, which included adding myelin to ALL nerves, responsible for movement and muscles, increasing speed of nerve signal by 5-10 times, compared to normal, and making Spartans much quicker to react, compared to normal humans.
Having read every halo book and consumed every piece of halo media, i instantly took to comment after the 1st minute of video. Have to say, I wasn't disappointed in all of the halo fans correcting the Spartan creation reasons.
Roanoke... The human they placed in the armor? He died. Killed by his own spasm of pain, which was accelerated by the armor. As well as many mentioned already, Orion and Spartan-II were created to fight insurrectionist and therefore, human opponents. When the covenants first attacked harvest, it was thought that it was first an insurrection attack. But then the covenant were discovered. The original Mjolnir armor had no shield, it was only after blue team came back with a jackal arm shield that the human scientist retro engineered them to adapt them to the armor.
gideon crider that’s tricky. There’s not much on the human body that’s effective for armor. The ribs, legs, arms, and skull are all you really have. It might sound like a lot but remember, dead bones must be hollowed and filled with something. Even with the ceramic carbide. Plus cracking or fracturing the carbide shell compromises the effectiveness. So cutting the bones to pieces is risky. What I’m saying is, it’s really difficult if not highly improbable to work out. So if any Sangheli decides to do that (if it’s not some kind of supreme sacrilege for them to make armor from their fallen enemies) they’d need to R E A L L Y hate Spartans.
to the subect of one of the first human testers in a mk4 mjolnir armor...it is stated in the first halo novel, that the spartans watched a video in the briefing before donning them the first time, where the tester shook himself into chunky meatpaste by his own painresponses
By the god emperor, you, Roanoke shall one day, give us a biography of the adeptus astartes. (I'm asking you to do a video on the warhammer 40k series.)
The Spartan program was started over twenty years before first contact with the convenant in 2525 It was a super soldier program intended to crush human rebellion on the frontier. It made a convenient basis for when they encountered a real threat outside of themselves. And we really need to acknowledge that the augmentations Spartans did receive was so it could handle the power of Mjolnir
Evan, your correct for the Spartan 11'S but the 111's were created as a cheaper, and more efficient way to fight the covenant, and the 1111' are a replacement for ODST'S and marines.
What ? Skeleton Augmentations Dr Herlsy needs a good beating after what she did to those kids all of ONI do really. Nice to see ya back men keep up the epic work respect dude and Happy Halloween month 🐲🐉🤖👽👺🐀🐺🔥🗡🐍🐲👻🐊😈😃👍. Plus are you going to be doing The Guardian's from Destiny in the future just curious.
Late to the party here but if you check out the novel Halo : New Blood (awesome!) Then you get a fairly basic description of becoming a Spartan IV from Bucks perspective. One thing that happened to them that didn't happen to the II's & III's was that the IV's had several organs completely replaced. You don't get specifics because you know, it's Buck, but it's a pretty interesting page and a half description.
