Dr. Hauser discusses cervical dystonia/spasmodic or spastic torticollis and when Prolotherapy can be used to help alleviate the condition. This is a classic example of how spinal instability due to ligament laxity can send the muscles into spasm. It can be very painful and disruptive to those who suffer from it.

Hey doc, so I have Lyme disease and cervical dystonia but I only started getting the head tremors and neck spams after the nurse gave me something at the hospital that I reacted badly to that caused non stop chattering of my teeth, one side of my face drooping, and my head and neck kept pulling to one side. Do you think this reaction to the Maxeran could’ve caused damage to my nerves and causes the dystonia?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 года назад
Hi Kevin, So sorry to hear about that experience you had at the hospital and your worsening symptoms. We would not know for sure the extent of what is causing the damage or the underlying cause of your condition without a more extensive case history. As we discuss in our videos, our center specializes in diagnosing and treating underlying spinal instability, especially in the neck. We do have patients who were previously diagnosed with Lyme disease and the treatment regimes for Lyme were not resolving the symptoms so we helped them to uncover whether or not cervical instability was involved and then treated appropriately with Prolotherapy and cervical curve correction. We hope that you and the doctor who originally prescribed the medication can have a discussion about what they feel happened and what they suggest you do moving forward. If you feel stuck and are looking for another opinion relating to a possible structural issue in the neck, and would like our team to help, you are welcome to reach out to us with the details of your case and we can let you know if you sound like a good candidate for our center. We wish you all the best in health and resolving the dystonia, tremors, and other painful symptoms you're experiencing. Take care, Kevin.

Hi Kim, So sorry to hear about what you are dealing with! If you have chronic pain through multiple joints, there may be some issues that would be worth talking with a provider about to look for/rule out various systemic conditions that could be affecting your joints and help you determine what the best course of action would be. Poor posture certainly does not help but if there are unexplained reasons for some of your joints to be chronically in pain, it is worth a more comprehensive look into what is happening by a medical professional who deals with chronic joint pain through the body. If you would like our office to help you, we would be happy to review your case in more detail. We deal with cases like yours every day. I have the condition, but I am not a doctor, so don't take this as medical advice, however from what I've researched it is extremely rare in young people. It is considered a disease of middle age. Now, having said that I got it in my late teens, which I believe is considered the earliest onset. I'd get a referral to a neurologist to confirm that this is what your son has. In my uneducated opinion, think its unlikely, though one has to wonder how much is known about this rare condition to begin with.

@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 9 дней назад
It could be - hearing issues and ear fullness can be associated with cervical instability, we would love to see you in our office! At a minimum you’d had a proper diagnosis and we could help develop a treatment plan that is right for you!

I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia 5 years ago. I do not have torticollis in the fact that i do not have an abnormal head posture but I do have a head tremor (in the no-no direction) and quite a bit of pain. Do you think prolotherapy could help this and do you have any experience with this?

Hi Ken N Jane Wall, Thank you for your question, and very sorry to hear about what you're dealing with for this long. We would be happy to talk with you in more detail about your case. From the brief description, you sound like someone we could help, yes, because these symptoms often have a structural cause (cervical instability). If you would like to submit your case for review, we have a very detailed intake form on our Neck Pain help section on our website, or you can email or call us too. Hope to help you soon. Glad you are doing your research about possible causes and solutions to your dystonia. Wish you all the best in health!

Can anything be done for cervical disc bulge?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 4 года назад
Hi Gabby, Yes we regularly treat cases of bulging discs. The goal is to correct the reason why the disc is bulging. Thus, a comprehensive treatment really needs to go beyond the bulge itself. Would you like to talk more about your case and what you've been going through with your neck pain? We would be happy to see if you sound like a good candidate for our clinics. You can contact us directly via email, phone, or through our website chat. Wish you all the best in health!

I had such a bad case of this. 12 docs couldn’t figure it out I was teaching my nerves to work again before I even realized what it was. I was real nervous cuz it’s been over three years and I won’t lie it’s been painful but sure enough i havent found a spot i cant restore movement. Prolo once it’s better!
@kevinl3323

How did you go about teaching your nerves to work again? What was your protocol?
@macintoshimann9892
@macintoshimann9892 Год назад
@@kevinl3323 holy cow was it hard. Doctors wouldn’t work with me so I was mostly shooting in the dark. Eventually I used a pump designed to help with a straight neck to manually move the muscles in my neck until I had about a mm of moment I could do on my own, took several months of straining to get it. From there I spent many hours in a dark room with music on, controlling the tics as best I could and focusing a lot on just understanding what it means to have a body. I started to remember what it was like to be in control, some movement came back, I struggled with direction for a while and after balance came right back. From there its just been real serious rehab, learning to contract and relax muscles again. Its been painfully hard and breakthroughs happen slowly but now my brain knows how to do impossible things… when my nerves are out of whack I ask myself what’s wrong, “listen” to my body really hard and send my brain to the source of discomfort, it’s usually somewhere that’s badly twisted and as soon as I find it it releases. There’s a lot more to it but essentially it’s been a process of learning to understand the nerve impulses, then to control the impulses, then to learn to send signals to muscles to contract normally. Its a lot but I’ve gone from wishing my home was wheelchair ready to lifting HEAVY weights. My dystonia is generalized and I have seen few cases as bad even on RU-vid. Hopefully this brings hope to someone! 🤞 I will add I don’t think I could have figured this out without marijuana. It was actually when I started smoking 3-6 times a day very heavily or eating outrageous amounts of edibles. I did not allow myself to sober up as I could tell the dystonia was losing strength like this. Any doctors that said I wouldn’t recover also seemed to discourage cannabis use and would not engage in any dialogue, mostly just wanted me to take psych meds thinking they would do the same for me . At one point I had a dystonia storm that wiped me out and sent me to the hospital where for 8 days they “treated” my marijuana addiction by substituting Tylenol and advil and it was a huge set back. what a freaking nightmare trying to deal with brain dead doctors when you’re getting over brain damage! 😂 I just share because I suffered for years when I didn’t need to and would be wheelchair bound had I listened to the people I stupidly payed for healthcare

Sorry Dr, but this video really doesn't explain Cervical Dystonia. Plus, it feels more like an ad for your business when there isn't a cure for Cervical Dystonia or Spasmodic Torticollis. I felt misled when you claim treatment as if it is cure.

I agree it doesn’t. But I do feel like a lot of dystonia has a spinal instability cause. I’d like to see patient reviews and results.

I find it interesting that many doctors claim to be able to correct conditions like dystonia, fibromyalgia, CRPS etc. I notice spine health, especially the neck to be a common target for all these doctors. Im personally comforted by the fact that science currently does not understand dystonia. This to me means a few things that make me hopeful. A) many doctors who are extremely specialized may hold more knowledge of this condition than what is published. And B) there might yet be many effective treatments that are not currently well known. I plan to try prolotherapy myself once I can afford to spend some time in Florida but til then Im impressed that there doesn’t seem to be anything I can’t learn to do again and I’m actually getting stronger than I was BEFORE the accident that started the dystonia. I actually just blew through a years old squat personal record without much effort 😅. It’s proven to me the science is not in on dystonia and there’s every reason to keep hoping for a cure!
