I work at a hotel and most of the kitchen staff are Haitian and Hispanic. So I’m trying to learn more just to communicate with them better. Most of them are trying to speak Spanish to communicate with us but none of us are trying to learn their language to try to communicate with them. My Haitian coworkers are excited and happy that I’m learning and trying to speak with them lol.

Bèl travay. M ap sijere koreksyon sa yo: Sak pase --> Sa k pase (= "sa ki pase") N'ap boule --> N ap boule (no need for apostrophe-see resolution of Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen on orthography) Repete l' souple --> Repete l souple m'pase --> m pase pat gen plas --> pa t gen plas kijan yo di --> ki jan yo di (konpare ak: "ki kote", "ki sa", "ki moun", "pou ki sa", e latriye)

I think all west indian (caribbean) people should embrace thier culture by extention the language that being the dialect of the standard or the the creole or potois.

With the surprise one you can just “O, o” when someone surprise you without the “mezanmi!” part. When you advance in kreyol you’ll learn shortcuts to get your point across. Just like any language

john smith - I ageee. To me "dezod" is the English equivalent of "naughty" which is a behavior definition more associated with kids. Pa fe dezod = Don't be naughty...
@Peace2daworld

@@millionaire6849 it depends on the context It's used for kids a lot to behave themselves. But I agree that for adults it has a sexual connotation

"Ye" is usually used at the end of a sentence rather than in the middle or beginning. You can never start a sentence with "Ye". It's the verb to be and is almost always accompanied by adverb that indicates, "time(when), manner(how), cause(why), whose(belonging)". Ex: "Kote ou ye [la]?"(where are you?). It's used for location/position in this sentense. "Se" is the verb to be and is used at the beginning of a sentence or in the middle never at the end. Ex: "Se ou ki prezidan an". (You are the president). Ye Means: to be, it -End of Sentence -Sentence has an adverb (not true in very few cases but first rule is still true, see example below). -you say, "Se sa li ye"(This is what it is) but can't say "ye sa li se". Se -Means: This is, (to be) -Beginning of a Sentence or in the middle. "This is" meaning would be mostly at the beginning of a sentence. "To be" meaning in the middle of a sentence. I hope this was a good breakdown !! Good luck !!! I tutor French as well if you need help with anything let me know.
@Toulimen283
@Toulimen283 6 лет назад
Ye stands for any conjugation or tense of "be" and is placed at the end specially when asking a question, subject switches position with it, as opposed to English. Ex: kisa li ye? What is it? Kijan ou ye? How are you? Kote yo ye? Where are they? For past tense add te before ye, and for future add pral devan te, for conditional add ta before ye. Se stands for It is, that is, this is. Ex: se mwen: it's me.
@Toulimen283

A lot of people have this stereotype that Haitian, St Lucia, St Kitts and Dominica Creole all speak a broken down French! this is purely false. The Creole is consist of Taino/Awawak, Bantu, Latin, and ancient Old block Hebrew and very little French words, However when it comes to the GREETINGS and NUMBERS French, this is where the confusion come. Example : English What do you have there Creole Sa w gen La Latin quid tibi est Spanish qué tienes ahí French Qu'est-ce que vous avez là As you can see the only word thats derived from Latin is "La" Example: English Don't make trouble Creole Pa fe dezod! French ne crée pas de problèmes Latin Non tribulationis The Creole Language is very wide spoken among the West Indies Islands

@@sharlia302 They still say it sometimes but another way to say you chilling (maybe more common now is) M'ap poze. (i'm relaxing) You will hear this a lot in haiti, and also to say "bro'" traditionally it's frè (like frère) in french, but you will hear young and urban haitians say baz (comes from english word boss) M'ap poze, oui baz. let's remove the creole , let's call our beautiful language Haitian.. sa t'ap bon anpil wi. why ? more pride... i know our language is a Creole : but for me Creole mean bad (joke). Example : ou pale Ayisyen ? wi mwen pale Ayisyen : bien sûr je parle Haïtien do you speak Haitian. yes i speak Haitian... so cool...
@eddp.2562

Florial Jean Baptiste I agree. ..Bulgaria With a population of 7 million.. ..Speak a language that very similar to Russian and they call their language Bulgarians.. .... Ayitian is the only official language of the first black ...... It is our national duty to call our language Ayitian..... That other word dose not apply in our Afrocentrism.....
@GoLongAmerica

creole is NOT Ayitian people language , Ayitian speaks Ayitian. Creole is the cultural of the French colonial enslaved system. To see people use this term to identify a sovereign people and their language is offensive ... The Ayitian people language is Ayitian in English (Haitian)

Dave Lopes If it is their language as you call it .. Then it should be identified as such ... Ayitian . . ..In order to achieve our national identity , it is necessary to proudly incorporate the name of our nation of 10 Million citizens with our language., Ayitian.......Something that was forbidden by the French speaking French and the English speaking English....
