I purchased this device about 2 years ago... I got one for myself and one for my next door neighbor who is from Colombia and has had difficulty learning English... We do a lot of activities together and she has helped me with my Spanish, but some days my brain shuts down and it's nice to have a back up plan to smooth over the communication issues... You can do the same thing on your phone with the Google Translate app.

It works much faster and is more accurate than google translate. You can compare it yourself by using your phone right now and having a conversation with it to see for yourself that it will only do a few words or phrases at a time. You can have full conversations with this device without missing a beat. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Jose. In my experience, If the mic on your phone isn’t very good or the Internet connection is spotty, then Google Translate isn’t gonna work very well.

I think if you're trying to use offline google translate, and you find it isn't picking up people's voices well, I'd suggest a really cheap microphone that plugs into the earphone jack, and having the person hold the wired mic while they speak.

The great thing about this device is that you don't need any extra add ons. No need to have a stranger feel weird by asking them to hold a microphone, let alone trying to ask them to do so without even knowing the language. The microphones on this device work extremely well even at a distance in a noisy environment. Another benefit is that you can have actual conversations instead of just having a few phrases here and there. I think Google translate is great to get you started, but once you decide you want to move beyond just a few phrases and actually have conversations this device just the solution people are looking for. Very cool device Jose, seen expats use this device in Southeast Asia as well. (Sorry, I erased my previous message) I know you mentioned Google translator, but they just put out a new update that works the same way... CHAT-GPT 4 / 5 and A.I. used on new 2024 smartphones will take advantage of this technology as well. Pretty soon, the apps will even nail down foreign accents without sounding robotic. I'm legally blind and I usually use the A.I. app "Be my eyes," which is not a translator but works the same way for legally blind individuals in different languages if you know of someone that needs it in Mexico.

That's great! Again this device offers much more features than just simple translation. I know Google translate is great for some things but this device is great for many things! As I mentioned the Free version of a translator app is Google Translate. But for some who really want to have a full immersive experience they can obtain the paid version which is this amazing device! I Speak English and Spanish Fluently and sometimes I just need a word or phrase translated and Google Translate is hit or miss, but with this device I was surprised it was even able to decipher my own gibberish into something coherent. Thanks for sharing!

One of the features of this device is the fact that it is it's own separate thing so that you dont have to be fumbling around with your phone. As you know your phone is your lifeline and having it out all the time trying to use an app on it doesn't allow you to use its other functions. It also puts it at risk of getting lost or stolen. But with this dedicated device you dont have to worry about any of that. Some people are just fine with using Google translate or some other app as you mentioned, but for others who really want to immerse themselves in the culture and the experience this device is Amazing since it allows you to have full conversations with people without having to miss a beat. No hay pedo en español 😅 but a similar device (different brand) helped me while in Afghanistan and Iraq. The big problem is when people start using "doble sentidos" 😂😂

If you watch the video you can see exactly how different it is. Google translate is only good if you just need to translate a few words or a simple phrase and it takes much longer to translate and is not as accurate than this device. You can see it in action for yourself in the video and compare it to google translate you already have on your phone and see for yourself. If you think it's a better option then you can get one for yourself, if not then you can just continue to use Google Translate or just learn Spanish. If you value the ability to communicate with others in another language then you will see the true value of a device like this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
