Followed the install with the exception of connecting the wires after installing the first speaker was able to install the other 3 in under an hour. Replaced the OEM 61/2 in with JBL of the same size. Currently using a Kenwood 393 no amplifiers or sub woofer in my 2014 sportage vast improvement. Please experience the install before criticizing. Thanks for the video
as a retired electrical engineer, i was watching through my fingers.! please dont follow this video first point always SOLDER any cable joints then use heat shrink and then insulating tape .i would not have joined to the original speaker BARE cable .you can purchase aftermarket connectors or you can chop off the speaker conectors [always leave enough cable on the connector so that you can resolder back if you are not happy with the sound of your new speakers .dont use scotch locks or terminal block always solder .you can remove the factory conectors in the door to the speakers and solder directley to the wiring loom and then heat shrink .as the speaker for the kia and hyundai tucson are 16.5 PLEASEN NOTE that a 16.5 speaker will not fit properley i leaves a gap so you will need to purchase 4 after market speaker pods because the speakers are raised from the door the speakers dont fit flat to the door you need the correct pods to bring the speakers to the door card this improves sound and stopps vibration .the speaker pods cost around £18 per pair but they are hard to get hold of .take your time make sure that the speakers are wired correctly . you can check this with a battery there are youtube vids to show you how to do this even if you use high-end speaker you wont notice a massive improvement in the quality of sound due to the limitation of the original head unit [the original Hyundai Tucson [a 55 plate ] was a lot easier to work on i added 4 hertz speaker and a Kenwood under seat sub and a mid-range head unit when my original CD player failed out of warranty .its not that easy with new cars as the head unit controls more things that just music [it can be changed but your looking at £100s and its not an easy job] kia and hyundai are the same company .
I was wondering if it was a tight seal and was considering silicon or a gasket. I think I'll go for the replacement speaker adapters and go from there. Good suggestions.
Hey Rob- thank you for the video. I have an issue though. I recently bought a sport model and have the glowing lights in the front doors where I want the replacement speakers. If I drill into the walls surrounding the speaker in afraid I'll ruin the mood lights. Not that it's a terribly big issue if I do burin keeping in mind a possible resale situation down the road. What do I do in this case? Thank you!!
Hi. Recently I purchased a Kia Venga 18/02/2016 and the quality sound in rear seats is terrible. But in general is not bad. Maybe I will replace the rear speakers. El vídeo es de mucha ayuda. Thanks a lot.
Very clear vid showing how to remove stock speakers and caution on wiring. Did not realize removing stock speakers is so simple, but will permanently destroy the speakers!!
This is not the first time i saw ur video. At first i just scoll on youtube all about sportage. And now i have an idea to plasti dip my interior door trim. Is it easy to knock them off? It has dual color, black and grey. I just want to plasti dip the grey one. But i don't have idea to remove the foam etc
HI , does the 4 screw holding the speaker good ? i'm afraid it will be lose after a while because the way you drilled the hole is so weak , is that right ?
if you purchase the MDF special pods available from Amazon [cost around £19 per pair [please note that even though the advert says that the pods will fit the rear door they will also fit the front doors too.they replace the original speaker bringing the speaker back to the inside of the door [just like the original speaker with the option for you to install any 6.5-inch speaker of your choice .if you use the speaker pods and the original screws you will get a firm fit because the plastic innner door cards are soft plastic and will grip the screws very tightley so dont worry .use a good brand of aftermarket speakers and fit them to the MDF pods when purchasing speakers make sure that they will be okay with your low powered factory fit head unit .i have purchased JBL speakers that say that they are okay with original low powered head units
2017 Kia Sportage use a tweeter in upper frame and woofer below - looks like you replaced the woofer with a full frequency speaker? There's a crossover somewhere - are you getting upper frequencies through your new speaker?
Yes, you will get some upper frequencies though aa full range speaker in the lower section. However it will not be annoying. Also the original speakers did not have any kind of filter whtasoever and passed high frequencies as distortion. Replacing the speakers will give much better sound anyway.
Pieter
Nice explain. But, when I connect my speaker there is no sound, even not when I change the cables from + and -. My speaker has 4 connections on it (2 plus 2 minus) but I think that is not the problem. The old speaker I removed worked, so what I’m doing wrong 😂
For kia picanto it is pretty much the same but the door panel removal is somewhat different. There are some good photos on kia forums dot com so if you google for kia picanto speaker replacement you will find what you are looking for. Succes.
Mvg Pieter
Yes as per text at 0.09min in the video: rear door. For thee front speakers, the plastic covers obove the tweater have t be removed and the panels have lone screw less.
Lol this is such a ghetto way of hooking up your speakers. Mdf spacers would make the sound better, solder your wires. Don't just use tape. And you don't need to rip out your old speaker just drill rivets or unscrew it!
What the heck did I just watch?? Why not just unscrew the stock speakers then replace with new ones with aftermarket connector? No need to do a hack job like you just did
In kia the speakers are not screwed. Also you need the rings as adapter to install the speakers on. This is the easiest way. There are other ways also better ways according to some...
PLEASE... for the love of god do not do this to your vehicle. This is NOT the proper way to install speakers. You do NOT cut the tinsel leads on the old speakers, or cut the surround, you don’t ruin the old speaker at all!!!! Drill out the rivers and get an adapter for the speaker size as well as the wire connector. This is the worst way to install speakers.
Yes, you are right, there is allways a better way. Damping should improve the sound. However it is not easy to attach damping behind the panel. There are some youtube movies to show you. However, this movie is abould speaker replacement and not damping improvement. I do not agree on the MDF. The panel and ring are stiff enough for regular power speakers and they do not vibrate. I should reuse the existing rings.
This guy is a hack - lol I was laughing and cringing through the entire video. Oh and the "IMPORTANT" part was totally pointless with his method and pointless unless you are rewiring all the way back to the stereo. Seriously I would not use this guy as someone to learn from. Will his method work? Yeah Will is last? Doubtful.
The channels name (hamada alraie) he stole my video too .I think here channel close by youtube .Because i told very one he stolen video. and i send the channels link to you before
I agree the jvc are not the best but much better than the kia. They are worth the money however. Of course you can use the same method for the high end speakers you prefer. Hope you enjoyed watching my video and it helps you installing the speakers of your own choise. The video shows the installation and is not an advertise for the speakers.
