This week, Bill and I question whether we always wear a mask to meet the world, and if we're conscious of the masks others wear. Looking at work by Cindy Sherman, Guerrilla Girls, and Gillian Wearing, we wonder at the value of the mask as a form of subversion, of terrorism, or of love. Through the feminist lens, we consider the role of the mask in defining who we are, and indeed who we are not.
With thanks to Bill for his ongoing support for the Speaking of Seeing project.
