Photographer Bill Wadman and I challenge each other on whether titles enhance or detract from a piece of art. From the famous Las Meninas by Velazquez, to the contemporary practice of Matt Adrian, we enquire into the nature of our expectations when we consume information through titles. We wonder whether we meet art works based on their visual merits alone, or whether we are curious to find out what each image is called in order to understand it (or feel that we do).
