@Baldovino63 Thanks, will check it out. But first I want to add a medieval looking scope. I plan to make it from brass, richly engraved. I will install a surplus Hensoldt G36 assault rifle scope into the brass tube, it is only four inches long and 3/4 inch in diameter.

@DudeNumberOnePlus The power increases mostly for heavy ammo. Otherwise each rubber band has a speed limit, the thicker the band, the lower the maximum speed. But this is made for shooting big lead balls, so yes, the power increase is substantial.

I love how happy making these crazy contraptions makes you, your passion for it is why your vids are so intriguing, awesome stuff.

@Barry4125 I don't know, it is an easy construction, but a lath and a drill press is required. Not many people have one.

@Punishering2U Firecrackers can be bought for three days just before new years eve, and exploded only for a few hours during the change of the years. I only use that slingshot during this time frame.

@WhaleChurch Calm down, man. It's not worth it. If you can't stand the guy, just stop discussing things with him. The web is a large place. Personally, I don't really understand all the math, I am a practical man and simply test things empirically. And I can tell you this weapon here is pretty darn powerful.

@Knight8365 I won't disappoint you. The one in the teaser is a test iphone I made for the development phase... same weight and shape, but from solid aluminum and plywood. Otherwise the test ammo would be a bit too expensive... but I have the real things as well.

@ZDP189HK But it would have to be much longer for the same draw. This would make it harder to cock. Also the rubber never touches anything hard, so the bands pretty much last forever.

I think this is very family friendly. In my opinion, slingshots are a great hobby, especially for kids. If I had kids, I'd much rather have them making things which stimulate their creativity and craftsmanship, than having them play video games. Just as long as they understand the importance of safety.

@jobriq5 Don't forget that the slomo scene ran for 12 secs... but in real time that was just about 1/3rd of a second.

@timetorollout When I was a boy, I shot thousands of stones without any parental supervision. But you are right, slingshots can be dangerous so parents should watch the shooting. Besides, makind/shooting a slingshot is a great father-son project.

@ZDP189HK Cool speargun. But the rubber isn't stretched very far, maybe to 3 times the original length. Speargun rubber does not have much draw weight at that point. I stretch it to 5,5 times. But I may experiment with that loading technique. Thanks for the link!

@littlelt1 Actually it is a batch of honor if the counter freezes THAT early. That means the video saw lots of views in a very short time. RU-vid freezes the counter of such videos for, like, eight hours, in order to fight view bots.

@jobriq5 Yeah too bad. Firing away at the container that they use to serve their lousy coffee from would certainly be fun. But then again, a miss might blow out a window... never a good thing at minus 70 outside temp.

Love your videos...inspirational! My father taught us to make an "arrow tube slingshot" i.e. you take a peice of electricians tube (1-2 feet long), drill two holes on one end of the tube and attach your slingshot rubber bands and leather pouch. Next simply take dowel sticks or welding rods. Extremely dangerous weapon and pretty accurate. Depending on the circumference of the tube and strength of the slingshot rubber, one can load a number of projectiles which can be shot at the same time.

I like bows, too, but I prefer shooting lead and steel balls. Tons cheaper, and can be reused hundreds of times. Arrows always break, and are quite costly.

@arisingartist I am at about 70 Joules right now, but so far I used the WEAKEST spear gun rubber, two thicker types are waiting right here in my workshop...

I love how in the slow-mo you can see the band swing back and forth many times after shooting but in regular speed the band seems to stop almost immediately

@tedmaulz Tested it with the .88" lead balls, 150 fps. Not bad, that ball weighs over 1000 grain. With just 27 inches of a draw. And I have two even thicker rubber bands that I have to test...

Hi, I'm 16 years old and I live in Sweden. For about a year I've been making a lot of different homemade weapons. And after watching this video I decided to buy some speargun rubber and make a crossbow and a bow out of it. So I went to a store and bought a jig saw so I can cut out shapes better. And now I have made a bow and a crossbow and I will get my speargun rubber soon. I'm also thinking about buying some Theraband gold and make some slingshots but I think it is too expensive. The weapons I have made the last year is: 2 crossbows 1 spear 1 war hammer 2 bows 1 baseball bat And some other clubs and impact weapons I have also made a bullwhip which got destroyed.

@sneaki602 Several, many years ago. Now everything is illegal if you are not a certified master gunsmith (which I am not). I'd love to, got some great ideas. But the law is the law, so slingshots it is.

You must color your X-Bow with wooden specific color.. in italian is called "Anilina", I don't know in english how is. Then apply wax, on it, and you will obtain a beautivul piece of art, with a real medieval look.. You are great, thanks for sharing.

@JoergSprave Yeah I figured since the video of him looked to be very old and he was an old man in that video. He really was amazing. Shooting by near pure instinct and sighting down his hand.
