They are reminiscing 21 years of Bond... And now I'm watching it on Bond's 60th anniversary... Almost three times the amount of movies to ruminate on... I wonder what would they say about the latest ones...

Personally, Connery is my favourite Bond, with some of my favourite Bond films, ie, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger and Thunderball, in fact, in my own personal opinion, every Bond film from the sixties (produced officially by EON) is a classic.

I have to agree with Ebert on Roger Moore. He wasn't bad, just different and added a different quality to "James Bond".

Moore is a lower tier Bond in my book but he, by far, had the best speaking voice of the Bonds. Also, I can't help but think that Fleming would have championed Moore's casting had he been considered in 1962. He was not unlike the actor Fleming wanted for the role, David Niven.

I thought Roger Moore was the best Bond, but I thought some of the Connery bonds were the best - Goldfinger, You only live twice and Diamond are forever.

Hmm, Diamonds are forever (which is considered one of the worse Bond movies) and YOLT above From Russia With Love ?

They were a bit hard on Lazenby, whose Bond movie has become one of the most beloved of the franchise. The issue, of course, is that Connery defined the role so completely that every future actor is compared to him. It’s a bit unfair and doesn’t allow for James Bond to be played any other way, but that was the sentiment circa 1984. They were also way too harsh on Roger Moore, who is Connery’s equal, but with a different flair and a very 1970s sense of style. Live And Let Die is so much fun, and when compared to Diamonds Are Forever felt like a rush of freedom and new energy.

Dalton and Craig could've played Bond villains if they didn't play Bond. That's where Connery, Moore and Brosnan have an advantage. They come off more naturally as heroes.

James Bond isn’t a hero though, he’s a sexist, misogynist dinosaur who can kill and make love in the same afternoon.

Dalton perfectly emulated the dark hero of Fleming's works.

Wish they'd have done this in 1990, then they'd be able to consider Timothy Dalton. In my view, he's the best Bond and also appeared in the bets Bond film (License to Kill). There's little doubt in my mind that both Siskel and Ebert would've considered Dalton the best Bond, at least up until that point. Carey Lowell also gets my nod for best Bong girl.

Siskel didn't like License to Kill, and he didn't enjoy Dalton as Bond. www.the007dossier.com/2013/07/24/siskel-ebert-review-license-to-kill/

You can look up their reviews for The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill. Siskel didn't like Dalton and Ebert thought he was okay. They both agreed he was better than Roger Moore though Siskel added "which isn't saying much".

I seriously don’t understand why Roger Moore is so popular. I can’t buy him as Bond. Hell I barely buy him as Austin Powers. I wish Dalton got more room to flex. In time he’ll get the respect he deserves.

@@msleeze Roger was very popular among the general viewing audience. It is only Bond geeks that don't like him. And it is another reason why I like him...because he is controversial.

He was charismatic and his one liners made me chuckle but he lacked the edge to be great Bond. Connery, Dalton, and Lazenby were the best.
