This is a video showing ODA 336 training in what is known as SOT (Special Operations Team) or CQB (Close Quarter Battle) tactics. Basically room clearing done by Special Forces. Today the tactics are much better, along with the equipment and weapons, but this is back at the beginning, when the methods used were still being created, and the equipment was either created or bought privately. This is also the days before plate carriers and the modern body armor. You see the team wearing the old "flak jacket" style of body armor, but even that wasn't trusted much. At the end of the video you see the Team fire into one of the vests to see if it will stop a bullet. This video was filmed on Fort Bragg back in the late 1990s.

Thanks from 90s era 18E from 1st Group. My team was maritime and SR because Capt broke each leg jumping and I never got to see any of this kind of work. JCETS and FTX in Korea was our trade with team Korean languaged trained.

We taught these tactics to law enforcement in 1994 at a range ten miles north of Ft. Bragg.

Yeah, I think the 1990s was a major time for coming up with the "new" way to room clearing, and it evolving from just Special Ops and down to the conventional forces. When I was an "SF Drill SGT" for two years in the mid-90s, a few of us Group guys were teaching trainees on how to clear rooms like this, but then we were called on the carpet for not teaching the normal method (throw in a grenade and then spray the room on full automatic)

@@Irish_Pirate We we're using flash bangs for the first time in 93. I worked for a retired Unit/Group Guy named Pete P. The guys today are just bigger faster and stronger and the equipment is off the chain but the basics of 4 man clear seem to be the same. Thanks for all you gave us then and now.

Awesome vid !! One of my dream is to be a PJ I'm almost done with my bachelor's is nursing to then going to the Air Force but the other day some guy told me that the SOF community hates CSAR and if I want to do something better be an 18-Delta what do you think ?? Is CSAR really that bad or boring ??

This is news to me. In the SF community we usually look upon PJs as excellent guys. They have more qualifications than the average SF guy (HALO, SCUBA, etc) and work hadn in hand with us. Now, SF also has a CSAR mission, and when we do it, we usually have a PJ with us to put us on the right track. I had a CSAR mission during Desert Storm, to try to find Scott Speicher. We never found him, no one did, but we were out there working with a PJ on the radio, above us in some helicopter. So, whoever told you that SF hates CSAR is probably someone who wasn't SF.
