Jay, you have improved a lot as a audio gear reviewer. It is extremely hard to describe something intangible like sound quality and experience to the audience. You are getting better and better. I could understand more about the speakers after watching you. Keep up the good work !
Im so glad I saw this review. I have the opportunity to acquire this speaker for a very good price, but haven't been able to hear it. You described this so well, I could sense that it may be my perfect speaker. I wasn't quite sure about the appearance, but seeing them in that finish in your room relieved that concern. They look gorgeous. Thank you for all the effort that went into this superb video.
@jayiyagi How would you rate these now that you’ve tried a bunch more speakers? Are these better than the Platimons, Arendal, Revival Audio, Ogys, etc?
Hi Jay i did ask this same question about the alex floorstand but that was before i saw this review , any thought on the luxman 507uxll amp pairing THANK YOU LOVE THE CHANNEL
Hi Jay, would it be possible to include the gear list involved in your reviews? In the description would be great! As someone who don't know a lot of gear, I am always curious about the gear in the background of your videos! Cheers :)
Great review! For me if I had $5k I think I’d get the Totem Tribes but these are definitely beautiful. Btw I’d love to see you review some McIntosh gear like the MA252.
Great review, Jay. That crossover is a thing of beauty. I’ve just spent £700 on components for the crossovers in my Monitor Audio speakers and they look very similar. Add that to a brilliant cabinet design and I can see where the money has gone.
Hi Jay, you did a very nice great and informative video!!! 1. I am looking to buy Alta Audio Alyssa Speakers so I would greatly appreciate your input. What is most expensive speakers that the Alyssa Speakers can equal in sound? 2. Will the Audio Alyssa Speakers give me a long, huge holographic wide sound stage, 3. Do they also have a nice ceiling to floor sound and can play all types of music really well? 4. Will the Alta Alyssa Speakers sound great even in a UNTREATED room? 5. Do you think that the Alyssa Speakers can equal or beat the sound of the Børresen X2 or X3 Speakers?
At FIVE-THOUSAND dollars a pair, I should think you’d give them the edge over the Buchardts. Working from your analogy: it'd be like getting that great cup of coffee at your favorite local coffee place vs. flying down to Columbia (under tight security, of course) and having the beans picked, dried, and ground on-site. Kinda like that.
Hi bro this is naveen from india..plz plz plz plz plz help me to choose between kef R3 and kef ls50 meta I am very confused. I know you have heard both .here in India it is almost impossible to audition these speakers.my room size is 15×15 .I only need gud sound quality. Which one u choose between two if u r going to play them in 15×15 room I know r3 has more bass but which one is overall better speakers. Sorry for bad English it's my third language waiting for you reply plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz answer soon .thnx
One,anyone looking at this is going to be put off by the fact ;you have to repair the crossover and no you do not get to say it wasn't a repair. You did not explain the whats and whys. Two,that is a pretty big statement concerning book shelf speakers have a wider sound stage. They are meant to be in a book shelf?Correct? And what shelf is that wide to accomodate this speaker and is 3/4 feet away from the wall.I do like your reviews but think before you speak. Stay well, Doc BC
Many years later you can put the speakers in the backyard and convert them to bird feeder stations. Or put them in the front yard as sleek vintage mailboxes. Perhaps it can go in the kitchen as a multi-level bread box. No disrespect, it just has that versatile hints-from-Heloise design. Kool!
I got this speaker pretty early into production. A tweak into the tuning that finalized it was done as instructed by the designer so that it is in line with production models
V interesting speaker design. Whilst I believe the bass response not sure about the claimed sensitivity, unless it's some kind of quasi horn MLTL enclosure
Stand mount LS can easily sound better in your room. I own a pair of TAD ME1 and owned expensive floorstand LS that in my room came in second (by far). I did a knock test on my TAD. They won 😃 (compared to these Alta Audio). That does not mean the TAD must sound better of course.
A good review🤗👍 Would love to see a review, where you could do a more detail comparison between the Gershmann Studio II vs. Alta Alyssa vs. Buckhardt two way monitors. What are strongest suites of each speaker, listener and equipment match point of view. Thank you in advance🤗👌 In Europe there is no opportunity to hear Gersmann & Alta Audio speakers. So, if you're aiming to serve better global followers with this channel, it would a great if you'd be able to take into account that all followers does not have an opportunity to hear some gear. And Buchardt you've to order, but e.g B&W, Focal, Dynaudio and Kef speakers are globally available, and are great from reference point of view when doing comparisons. The most audiophiles has easy access to these previously mentioned speaker brands. Just my two cents.
@@djmoalem6474 Can you provide a little more details? How was the treble on both? How was the midrange? How was the depth and layering in the sound stage?
I hope he'll review them at some point. They look super simple and they probably spent most money on the drivers and the sound and not a fancy unneccesarily over engineered cabinet.
@@juliangst although they look simple and use a 1st order crossover (more preferable to me), the cabinet is actually much more beautiful than these and probably much better built. They look vintage, but there is nothing vintage about them. The drivers are insanely good which is why they can use such an uncomplicated crossover
@@juliangst I know what you mean, I had initially ordered the new black vine color but the never came, so I listened to the heritage specials and bought them in the spot. I'm glad the special 40s were back ordered because the heritage special are much much better. In the long run, their look is timeless whereas I probably would have got tired of the black vine as they are quite different, and tastes change over time
@@Coolesttech I‘m also a fan of timeless designs and for me both fulfill that criteria. One of my favorite speaker designs is the Yamaha ns5000, which might look pretty boring to most people but it both looks high end and classy imo
I don't see it strange. It's like an update that many companies do but sometimes don't explicitly say. The engineer made upgrade/update and let me know and gave me the option to allow them to do it or make the changes myself with instructions.
When it comes to Hifi one of my biggest gripes is bookshelf speakers at thousands of dollars. They aren't worth it compared to towers at that price or less in many cases. A 27lb pair of bookshelf speakers is 5k? Way overpriced for what you are getting. You can tell me they will make toast for you in the morning and it still wont impress me. You can get some crazy good top to bottom performance from some towers at 2k to 5k and towers cost more to make because of larger heavier cabinets with more drivers. Example...my friend bought a pair of new, sealed up Canton Reference 3.2 speakers for $4500 shipped. They weigh 108lbs each and are handmade in Germany. They have been in business since 1972. World class engineering and performance. No way on Gods green Earth the 27lb bookies are out performing the Reference Cantons. No replacement for displacement. I'm not saying the Alta bookshelves are a poor or just ok performer. I'm sure they are incredible for the size. But 5k for bookshelves is money poorly spent considering you can get well built towers for that much or even less. You could even get some 2k bookshelves....like let's say the Gallo Strada 2 and get 2 REL subwoofers for 2k and save 1k to get better performance. Just silly to be at such a high price point to get what you get.
This is a common misconception. Bookshelves can outperform floorstanders in the similar price range. Theres pros and cons to both bookshelf and floorstanding designs as I mention in the video Also it is a misconception that floor-standers cost more to manufacture or design. Sometimes a good bookshelf can be more of a challenge. I understand that you feel like you are getting more when you purchase something thats 100 lbs versus 27 lbs But it doesn’t work like in reality when it comes to audio... for instance; the sound artist 100lb speaker I reviewed that costs 3k usd or so is no where near as good as the alta alyssas in many aspects Again, I’m not trying to convince you of anything. Merely sharing my experience and at the end of the day, if you find value in 5k floorstanders instead of bookshelves. I’m sure you can find one or may already have (idk)
@@Jayiyagi Jay....please address my exact comparison. Did you even look up what the Cantons are? I really appreciate your knowledge overall but in this case.....are you trying to tell me the 5k Altas will outperform the Canton reference 3.2s??? The Altas somehow triumph all laws of physics? Come on man. On the flip side....I have experienced towers....namely Canton 890.2's that image.and soundstage better than any bookie I've owned. Honestly....to me there is a misconception regarding bookshelves having this magical ability to be better than a tower.
@@Jayiyagi jay, no way a.bookshelf costs more or as a similarly priced tower. That's like saying a 2000 sq ft house costs as much as a 6000 sq house. Also, I'm not talking about the sound artist. I already mentioned specifically the Canton reference 3.2s for $4500 shipped.
@@ryanschipp8513 again, From personal experience, I don’t think it fair to say you get more from floorstanders than bookshelves in the same price range in a general term. if you are talking about the cantons specifically and not in general terms then I have no comment as I have not heard those
