One of the main reasons is because they have been duped into going to university without a plan and now find themselves with a useless degree, but no actual skills.
You are right. You can bet that the ones employed are the ones who started in employment after leaving school. Not only do they start earning sooner, they also save a mint on student loans and tuition fees. The way the young man called Paulo spits out the phrase “I had to resort to a third party company, just hiring people for retail…” indicates to me that he has overly high expectations. Perhaps rather than feel sorry for himself he should take any job or even volunteer in order to pad his CV out.
@@deanwal1962 If you don't have high expectations, you wouldn't need to do a degree. I have two degrees and I took any job because there were not many graduate jobs. I'm still doing that "any job" today decades later. You don't need to read or write in that job. There's no future in it. If you work in retail or factories, you stay that way forever unless you miraculously break out of it.
Actually I support the practical apprentice courses instead of going to the college to study the practical courses instead . I have met some so called gas engineers and they went to the local colleges but did not gain much experience and they thought they knew it all . And two young engineers could not fix my neighbour s boiler and the number three experienced one fixed it in ten minutes .
Why is an engineer fixing your boiler? Just about any handyman could do that. The thing has already been designed it doesn't need any engineering done.
Young people must leave that shot coty, where you work only to give your money to greedy landlords. in uk they can find way cheaper and modt hospitable cities
i am not homeless, but i may be in 8 weeks, all i need is £400 a month to pay rent, and that is very cheap for uk, i am just fighting to stay in my house. i do not want any more, just the 400 for rent, food i can get my eating like rice. please give me job too., i can give people jobs, i need expand my business, or need job offfer
Is it really CAN'T get a job, or WON'T get a job? It depends if people are really prepared to do anything. In our area I know places where you can interview in the morning and start as soon as you get DBS clearance I think sometimes young people think they are worth much more than they really are. 1.2 million jobs and young people are saying they CAN'T get a job? Really
Constance Davis. I do get what they are saying, but surely it is better to take a so called lowly job and get work experience. I have known people who have started a job as a shelf filler, taken internal promotion and become area manager. Sometimes from the bottom up is the only way.
