This video here is to help people looking on deciding weather or not to buy a rouibaix or a tarmac and if they are confused between the two and which one they should buy.
I go over the head tube differences the spacer differences the height differences, what makes it more of a comfort bike compared to a speed bike.
Also I talk about what comes on both bikes and what you all should be considering if your ever in this situation.
Please lemme know what you all think of the video and which bike you would prefer. I would love to get the granny name away form the roubaix because it really is a fast bike now and you can be comfortable while also being fast... its not a broken law lol...
So lemme know what you like more down in the comments below and if you have any questions that I can answer I will do my best to answer them right away.
As always, thanks so much for watching and I will see you all in the next video... BYE

Good explanation towards the end about comfort. I've been eyeing an endurance bike for a while now and while I'm infatuated with the Canyon Endurace, Specialized showed up again on my radar and I wanna check out the Roubaix because I love the idea of integrated "suspension" in the interest of comfort. I'm 43 years old and have been cycling on and off for around 5 years and I wanna get faster, hence the switch from a hybrid to a road bike. But in the end, you have to build up resistance to riding because no matter how great the bike is, if your body isn't ready for it, even a beach cruiser is gonna beat you up after a good ride. But if I were to buy a Specialized, I still want the Roubaix.

Hey Bro, Thanks so much for this awesome vid, just about to buy the 2021 Roubaix Expert in black at the local shop. I had to wait a while until they had one in stock. Apparently, the 2021 Expert has aluminum wheels instead of the carbon wheels, still has the Di2, and a lower price at $4600.00 USD. This bike shortage is crazy, the shop told me people are lining up to buy bikes, and they have very few in stock to sell, crazy times my friend, stay safe and healthy... Be well....

Very informative - thank you! It sounds like the latest models of these bikes are not night and day different any more... The Roubaix has similar geometry and aero design. Meanwhile, I read Tarmacs are compliant and the SL7 can even fit 32mm tyres if you want comfort. I think most weekend riders would be very happy with either of these bikes.

I feel like people don't give the Roubaix enough credit... Especially weekend warriors thinking it won't keep up in a group ride. To your point, this is an awesome bike. If you're a solo rider that want's to go fast but wants additional comfort for those longer rides, this IS the bike for you. If you're constantly pushing for KOMs, looking to beat personal records by the seconds and ride pretty frequently, the Tarmac is more suited for you and still very comfortable. Great video bud! At this rate, you'll climb to 10k in 2-3 weeks. One suggestion if I may, you should look into getting a microphone that clips to your shirt or a different camera microphone for more consistently higher-quality audio. Depending on what you're doing in the video, sometimes due to the sound direction or your positioning to the mic, it gets slightly harder to hear you trying to explain something. Keep it up bud!

Bought the Roubaix in 2018 after a major crash involving a lot of broken bones. The future shock and the ability to run 32mm tires was the main reason. Upgraded the wheels, dropped the stack to the min and can ride in comfort while in the drops and keep pace with any group and pull out front for my rotation. Great bike and will definitely be upgrading to another Roubaix in the future.

I ride a 2018 Roubaix Expert, and I just upgraded my wheels to Zipp303s with 28mm tubeless tires. Love the bike, 4000 miles so far in 2020. Not the new design Roubaix but still a great bike and pretty fast. I’ve been riding faster and faster, not getting KOMs but I’m in the top 10 on some segments around town. I spend a lot of time in aero position on the Roubaix and avg 20-22 mph or more on flats. Wanting di2 and a stiffer snappier bike for those 20-30 mile TTs I ordered the SL7 pro. So I’ll have both a sweet Roubaix for the longer 70-100 mile club rides and the SL7 for hammering out the 1-3 hour rides. Best of both worlds. I’ll report back once the SL7 arrives in January!

Looking at both these models in the Rival groupset. I'm 220-230lbs (working my way down to 200lbs) and currently ride a 2018 diverge E5 comp, on the road and never on the dirt. Every ride usually consist of around 2000+ ft of climbing usually 27 mile solo rides and every now and then I'll ride with a group. I will also throw in a 50 to 100 mile ride. So far with my schedule I only ride around 3000 miles a year. I'm worried with the Roubaix I wouldn't really feel any difference in ride compared to if I got the SL7 with 32mm wheels and more comfortable ride since I don't race. Or am I thinking crazy and the 2022 Robaix rival would be a huge difference compared to my current 2018 Diverge E5. Thanks for any input and the great videos...

you will notcie a really big difference going to a carbon roubaix it will be lighter and way more comfortable and the future shock is a huge upgrade being a 2.0 plus the shifting will be nigh and day. the roubaix is still a race bike they use in races so you can outfit it with some nice wheels and also some skinny tires and the bike will cruise

Sounds like the Roubaix is the better all around bike or like the new "All-road" category, while the Tarmac is better for a specific purpose, if you want to do one thing and do it best or you already have an all-road or gravel bike and want something that is going to be significantly faster for racing and on group rides that stick to good pavement. I'm getting into road with an all-road/gravel style bike that I intend to swap tires on depending on what I want to do with it and the time of the year but can certainly see myself having an interest in getting something like a Tarmac down the line that is going to perform a lot better on pure road riding.

I'm short, 5'6'' 167cm, and from all I've read online, it's easier to make a small bike larger than to make a large bike smaller. But that measurement is correct for me because after comparing measurements with my current bike, even though it is a hybrid, those 49cm(2XS as per Canyon) are right on the money. I agree that it's always better to go a little smaller.

They’re both phenomenal bikes. I’ve ridden both extensively. The geometry, gearing and stiffness of the Tarmac are hands down faster, and make you feel like your capable of maintaining top end speed for a long duration. On the other hand, the Roubaix will, in all likelihood, be the most comfortable bike you’ve ever ridden. The easier Roubaix gearing is very noticeable, comparatively. A Team Roubaix would be a special build worth considering. It’s a needs vs wants decision between the two. I’m all for pushing a race bike, like the Tarmac, for as long as my body will let me.

I am convinced the bike is a perfect replacement for my secteur, the alu Roubaix of years back. Now I was looking at the prices and noted the big gap between the 105 (sport) and ultegra version. I would be opting for the 105 sport version but was looking for some feedback on this particular choice from other's experience. Anyone experience to share? Thx.

Additional question: here in Belgium I live near the hills of the tour of Flanders. How does it ride on the hills? Is it a good climbing bike given the future shock system and the weight?
@GCPerformance18
@GCPerformance18 3 года назад
yea the future shock is great and you will have no problem with climbing and between 105 and ultegra it is very minimal in the differences, honestly it would just be the weight and that is very minimal you will like th e105 model alot, and the crank on roubaixs are all compacts so they come with a 50-34 so there should be no worries about climbing

When you measured it appeared the frame stack difference was only 5mm, and total stack a bit more mostly due to the 15mm rise Hover bar on the Roubaix. Comparing the published geometry between the Roubaix and Tarmac in my size (58) shows a 49mm lower stack on the Tarmac. Can you explain what's different in how you measured versus how Specialized publishes it?

Worth pointing out that there is a "Team Edition" S-Works Roubaix which slams the geo (noticeably shorter head tube) to make it identical to a Tarmac. It's a frame-only option, but if you've got the dosh to throw around for an S-Works and think you might want more plushness but want minimal aero sacrifices then the Team Edition is the ticket.

Have an old Allez elite that I love and am looking to (finally) upgrade and am struggling to decide between the Roubaix and Tarmac. Leaning heavily towards the tarmac as while I get out three to four times per week, I’m rarely in the saddle more than two hours at any one time. I typically only do one or two 70-100 mile rides/year. I love speed and climbing so given the above thinking the Tarmac will be a riot. Looking at the geo it seems pretty close to my Allez.

I think that with the right choice of tyres and wheels and a proper fitting, the tarmac can be very comfy, for most of the people (as you said). I really like the idea behind the damping system of the Roubaix but at the same time, i don't see the necessity of it. It's not a straight up endurance bike, it's basically a really good race bike with more compliance for bad surfaced roads. I honestly really like the idea of your customer of using it almost as a gravel bike ! 😎

I am 6'4" and currently have Specialized Allez Sport - 5 years old now.. and now looking to upgrade to Tarmac SL6 Sport or Roubeix Sport. I like to do longer rides 40-60mile rides twice a week and at least 100mile ride monthly. I felt I am never fast enough on Allez. I am not looking to do racing and don't track seconds but always felt someone was always faster than me, especially climbing, maybe because I am just 220pounds, although I am in a very good shape. I love the idea of Roubeix but worried of granpa bike image, and that will spend all this money and will not improve any speed. Really been struggling between the two. The other thing I am concerned is that Roubeix from some reviews I noticed to break down, especially the shock mechanism. Any suggestions?
