She and Sandra became really good friends and even played her mom in another movie. It's hard to believe that issues ever happened on set of such a blockbuster action film, but unfortunately, 20th Century Studios ran into a big problem. They'd used up the film's entire budget, which for the record was originally $30 million before the film was even finished. Director Jan de Bont and writers Graham Yost and Joss Weedon estimated that a futher $7 million would be needed to finish the film. Luckily, they got that extra money thanks to an awesome test screening, where despite the last portion of the film not being complete, the audience loved it so much that when they went on toilet breaks, they'd walk backwards, very slowly out of the theatre.

It's such a weird thing, getting older. Things that used to be common knowledge, that everyone just knew about, fade from public knowledge. Makes you initially think "Omg how do you not know about this?? :O". Feels like this mindset might be kind of a relic as well, since the internet is so segregated, and so many massively popular things have no exposure to anyone outside the fandom. Before, the avenues which you could get media presented to you were much less varied, and even if you weren't interested in it, would still most likely be aware of it to some extent. Through ads, or radio, tv, etc. There's youtube channels out there with 10s of millions of subscribers that I have literally never heard of before. Er... anyway lol Sorry. Good video!

@janleonard3101
@janleonard3101 3 года назад
Great observation! I've noticed a lot of Gen X references that were still common about 10 years ago seem to have disappeared now. I can't remember where, but I read an article that mentioned increasing cultural alienation as a factor in poor quality of life for elderly people and I'm old enough to start experiencing it myself. I just can't keep up with so much change anymore and don't really even want to. Current pop culture almost feels hostile - new technology definitely feels hostile. I do see a lot of young people who are familiar with and enjoy music from The Beatles through the 80s, so that's something. The one thing they can't seem to grasp is the mindsets of past generations, which makes a lot of these reaction channels funny when they ask things like where are the seatbelts or why isn't there parental supervision, as if these were things in the 70s. 😁

I read somewhere that a discjockey complained that there were not enough new hit songs from recent years to play. I think he meant that we have many hit songs from maybe 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago that many people know and love, but not so many hit songs that "everybody knows" from these recent years. I think maybe because there is so much to listen to, and so many movies and tv shows to see that it is really super hard to "stand out" and to get known by "everybody these days. My son who is 12 even found Rick Astley on youtube and started listen to "never gonna give you up"🤣

I live in Tucson, Az at the time, which home of UofA. I know I just found it a fun fact. Also, Harry was supposed to be inside man and working with Dennis Hopper character from the start. That why you notice he was a little upset at the beginning when he was volunteer to check out the bomb and Dennis Hopper was laughing at the beginning when he shot Harry. I don’t know if this was already mentioned in the comments, but: I believe at the time this movie came out, the 105 fwy (which really does lead directly into LAX airport), was literally just built or something, and wasn’t opened yet to the public. And since this movie takes place in LA at that moment in time, it’s logical. If I’m not mistaken (someone can correct me on this), I think the fwy was completed and they filmed this movie before it opened to the public, but they CG’d the missing piece out for the movie. I actually remember when it was being build as a kid. There were sections missing and everything. And I remember it was gonna be the new route for visiting my friend growing up who lived by the airport. Crazy right?

the LA 105 highway. The reason the highway is so empty, is because they (State of Cali) were just building it and we're nearing completion when they made the movie. Producers of the movie got permission, and probably paid someone aka the State of California to use the highway. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, because now the 105 highway is one of the most traffic heavy roads in the country. The writers also use the fact that part of it was unfinished in the script. Such brilliant script writing that integrates into the movie.

Believe it or not the first time I saw this movie was on a bus going to a food show in the Pochinos. The bus driver assured me that the bus 🚌 wouldn't explode if he went below 55 while watching the movie.

Those real explosions look so much better than the best CGI they use today.

love this movie! one thing that always bugged me though is that in real life, Annie would NEVER have been there during the money drop-off. she would have been in the hospital or at a safe location. she's a civilian so the cops would have never had her there during an official police operation. but like, the movie needed to happen so I get it haha amazing reaction as always!

That was probably the silliest part of the whole movie, honestly She shouldn’t have been there at ALLLLL That’s what irked me, but other than that the movie was fun! And thank you!!

Yo OG, I’ve been watching the movie Speed since back in 1994 when it came out. But I recently watched your RU-vid channel doing a commentary about the movie. I loved the way you did it from the beginning all the way to the end of it. Also loved your reactions to the scenes that was shown. Hope you’ll be doing some more commentaries on more movies soon. Peace ☮️ out and God bless you.

I love this movie! I saw it in theaters when it came out & then once it hit VHS tape I probably watched it almost every day for a while, I pretty much could recite the entire script while watching it. I haven’t watched this movie in a long time so it was fun to see your reaction. 😁

Starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock with Dennis Hopper as the villain. About a bus that gets rigged to blow if it drives below 50 mph. Bring bomb defuser Jack (Keanu) Also featuring Jeff Bridges as Jack's partner
