Hey Andy I used your tank vid stipple method on my terms and they look similar like yours but in like 1/3 of the time. Only extra step was a 1:5 wash of Terridon T before dry brushing back up sons of Horus green then cybarite green. 😬👍🏻
You get a much stronger black out of Black Templar than I do when I use this same method to paint. Personally, I’m going to try using the new Black Legion paint to get the dark black than brighten up the surfaces with Corvus Black on my next marine squad. Applying this technique with new color combinations has me excited to move on to other painting projects once my Heresy Blood Angels are done!
I don't paint much Sons of Horus, but when I do I like to paint the right shoulder the Sons of Horus Green color and the Left Black because the transfers for Sons of Horus are also black.
iv always wanted a luna wolves army, even have a fully painted up Horus in the white armor. But the more time goes on, the more i appreciate the turquoise-green scheme sons of horus had going. Fortunately, im too broke to afford to get into 30k, so i can put off making that decision for a few more years yet.
i really really love the simplicity of your eyelense method... it is just flawless. Other studios just overcomplicating it, but most of their followers cannot thin their paints for the white dot method yet they force that.
I always found tartaros to be a interesting pattern of terminator armor. These look alot like MK VI armor. Surprised they didn't put them in the box to keep design theme consistent.
Here you go! They’re called painting handles and there’s lots of brands that make them but this is what I’m using here! www.games-workshop.com/en-IE/Citadel-Colour-Painting-Handle-2020
Someone's gonna be very happy with these terminators! Tartaros are such a sleek design. Still hulking big suits, but not in the way that Cataphractii or regular terminators are. A little tidbit of Sons of Horus lore that I came across: they actually weren't super tightly regimented after becoming the Sons of Horus. As the Luna Wolves everything was tight and by the book, but after Horus his promotion to warmaster the structure of the companies came down entirely to the preference of the captains. Many captains preferred aggressive speartip assaults that looked to crush enemy leadership and break enemy morale quickly. Markings where also mostly up to preference. You could mark your marines however you like in the Sons of Horus and you'd be lore accurate. (Most extreme of this would be the Justaerin, who heavily favoured terminator armour and wore almost all black instead of that odd green colour the rest wear.)
This was awesome to watch, I hope to translate this to my cataphractii when I get to them. When I saw some of the early reviews of the new nuln oil I made sure to run out and grab another bottle just in case I also loaded up on the standard shades too just in case. What are your favorite kind of Terminators?
