I find Wringer Washer much more efficient and economical than todays automatic washers. They clean clothes like nothing else will. We can use the same water and soap for all 3 loads starting with whites, colors then last with dark. I use the same rinse water in a large sink tub beside the washer. This little washer use only 6.5 amp/Hr compared to 10 amp/Hr on most common automatic washer. It does involves our own time and labor but it is worth every dollars saved at the end.

Who would have thought watching someone do laundry could be so interesting - I watched it all the way through. I love these old machines and didn't realize there were still a lot of them around today. Thank you for making this video. :)

Oh thank you ! it is something I wanted to experiment for a long time . I found this unused little beauty in mint condition, it was very well protected thru all these decades. I went to pick it up far away from home. This all happened during the time my whirpool washer was out of order. I used it for a few months until I bought a brand new TR5 Speed Queen with a 10 years waranty. from this point on I have become the custodian of that old pearl. Those are super efficient machines, I wash 3 loads with the same water , no waste, and quick, it beats the best energy star machine in water use and electricity, but needs baby sitting.

I never knew these kinds of machines were manufactured up to 1983. It's amazing the wringer gets the clothes as dry as a spinner does in a modern machine!
@Danroxye01
@Danroxye01 Год назад
Thank you for comment, spinner does a better job with good machines ( costly ). The wringer being manual alows the user to re-run clothes thru multiple times , that helps but compared to my TR-5 spin cycle, wringers are no match.

We have to baby sitting them all along, we decide when to start/stop, when it's clean. As for wringing clothes, I do understand why they went with automatic washers, I dont understand why whirlpool exist and why they make such poorly built washer. Yes I have 2 clothe lines hung up in my basement with 1 fan, 1 air exchanger, 1 dehumidefier, I dont use the Dryer , It works, dont need it, it'is probably 40 year old or more. Now I only use a TR5 Speed Queen ( good machine )

My maternal grandmother had this type of washer back in the 1940’s (perhaps), and most likely, 1950’s (when automatics were prohibitability expensive). And I for the life of me could not see how my ancestors got by with this type of machine back then? I had to have an automatic even back then. That’s just my opinion. -Charles-

@Danroxye01 2 года назад
Ah, Ah, LOL ! And she knew a lot better than I how to operate it and babysit it. Buying an outstanding automatic washer still is expensive . Affordable automatic machines are craps which is a fancy word for scrap . I'm realy proud of this little machine, it's in mint condition, that is very rare, no matter what happens I can count on it. Shortly after this I bought a brand new Speed Queen TR5.

I feel so guilty now that at age 79 I realize how much easier I've had it than my mother who did laundry for 7 people in a Maytag wringer machine. You were awake enough to know that there was an easier way . . . unless you like the process and savings etc.
@rollandjoeseph
@rollandjoeseph Год назад
The thing is with these machines, like my Maytag J2L is they rarely break because they're mechanical..meaning no electronic boards... it takes a little more effort to do laundry, but I find it nostalgic and besides ,I'd prefer to go back to those days of technology sometimes

Sorry about that machine your father threw out. you must not give up hope, these machines do appear once in a while all over the map, there are more than you think not being used, forgotten. it took me months of searching, I failed on several occasions , I was seing them too late, but this one you see here well it showed up about 5 days late after it was advertised on facebook marketplace ( how I did ? I joined several susceptible groups and anything for sale, and once in a while I enter in the search bar : wringer washer . ( a moment ago I just had a peak into marketplace and yes there is a couple wringer washers not so far away from me in good shape one is $175 and the other one $100 and it's identical to mine, so yes there are some ) See ! after a while somehow algorithm kind of detect what you're looking for you'd be surprise ! anyway good luck !

Seems much sturdier than today's machines, but, there's a lot of manual labor involved. It's not just put in a load and forget about it.
@Danroxye01
@Danroxye01 3 года назад
No it is not a fire & forget like automatic machines, most people nowadays dont have time for this, but it depends on the situation, retired and passionate, econo, environmentally friendly people. These are more dependable, efficient, it cleans like no others and you're the CONTRÔL/TIMER & decide when it's clean OK or not
@timothykeith1367

I've heard that when you're trying to do many loads as quickly as you can that these antiques are actually much faster than an automatic, which won't load and unload the clothes any better than the antique model
@jeremynv89523
@jeremynv89523 2 месяца назад
@timothykeith1367 my mother had a system. Boiling water first for whites, for about 10 minutes. Wring. Used the same water for colors, 10 more minutes. Wring. The dirtiest clothes came last. Wring. While one load was washing, she was hanging the other load out on the clothes line. It was a lot of work but it was faster, and the clothes--especially the whites--were cleaner.
@justmealways3884
@justmealways3884 2 года назад
Wringer washers are much better on water conservation while getting clothes really clean being that you can use the same FULL tub of water for all three loads Todays HE machines use very little water to wash clothes that don't smell fresh especially with the mildew problems most HE machines develope over time even the top loading HE machines stink overtime
@Danroxye01
@Danroxye01 2 года назад
The old way was a more economical solution, but its the labor !!!. I wanna add a fact, New machines needs more time to wash (some as high as 1h35 ) How much water is wasted from an hydroelectric dam at a station to power up an automatic machine that's been running already 1 hour too long? Knowing it is consuming twice as much electrical power as the wringer . All this just because mankind needed to evolve making something more attractive and simple of use. We had to come up with a way around the infamous wringer.
@justmealways3884

@@Danroxye01 I got myself a 1973 Speed Queen from a guy on market place...$150. Works just fine, we use it several times a week and to short cut the rinsing...I run the clothes through the wringer from the wash, then just toss it in my frontload on 'rapid wash' which is for only 20 minutes WITHOUT soap, so it's getting the rinse and spin. Easy.

@@367cuba1 ebay ? shipping would cost to much ! I would not ! If I want to buy a decent wringer washer for my personal use at home 1- must not drip oil on the floor 2- the drain pump is essential , must work and not leak on the floor, 3- the wringer rolllers must be in decent shape no damage. We have to be cautious when wringing clothes with zippers large button, you can wring most everything but need to be carefull and know how to, there are tricks like folding clothes over hiding the zipper between 2 layers. Old machines were exeptionaly well built, Maytag and Speed Queen were really good. it is best to be patient and look around your area, it comes and goes, it could be months of search but the opportunity will come. I have joined many groups in facebook Marketplace and that is how I have succeded in finding my own.
