I have speediance gym, for the attachment, they do send extra square thing for you to use your own attachment. Your package wasn't included. But yes they do send you extra clips so you can attach other attachments.
That's good to know! I also didn't get some of the other items (apparently I was supposed too) so thank you for adding those details here for anyone interested.
Informative review! I agree that it’s nice to see innovation and competition to hopefully drive down the price and make products like these more feasible for consumers.
One thing viewers should note. Once you order it can take up to 3 months to arrive, zero notification, zero tracking and zero after order support response. Company is based in China obviously. So buyer beware. I am not sure how you would get any support with this machine if something would go wrong. And yes I also ordered one.
Speediance has a FB group and I know they recently said they just put in a bunch of packages to help out on orders. I have also seen a lot of people in the group waiting for theirs. It has been heartbreaking to see how long some of the shipments are taking. Thanks for providing your experience on an order you placed.
Thanks for the video! Have to admit I'm debating jumping into a smart home gym due to size restraints at home. Any opinions on this vs the vitruvian? The safety concerns plus the possible vertical stack for the vitruvian are pushing me that direction but would appreciate your opinion!
If I had to choose one of these, it would be the Speediance. There are some things though I don't like and needs to be updated (software wise). However, I may still use resistance bands/dumbbells as I can set it up easier. I think if you want one now, both Smart options are great, but just know the only option that comes with a pull-down option is the Speediance (or other brands like Tonal).
Great review. Been watching your videos lately. Keep up the good work. How are the workout programs been? Have you seen them make any updates since you've posted the video? Curious if they are still updating content even with no subscription model.
Yes they have added quite a few programs. However, I do not do them so I don't have a ton of experience running one outside of looking through and just testing it. I have my own custom plan I put into the system that I do each week. They have added a lot recently though. When one is added, it pops up on your login screen (if using the Gym Monster) or the app (if using Gym Pal).
@GamerBody Do you have any feedback on the machine making any excessive noise/clanking while in motion with resistance? Or is it fairly quiet when in use?
It isn't too bad. It does spin up the fans a bit to cool down the machine. It is definitely audible to hear, but with the door closed you can barely hear it outside (at least in my house).
It looks incredible. They were also selling it with lifetime subscriptions which is great. From what I see, my minor complaint is I wish they made it taller and had a way to lock in you legs for a lat pulldown
You could view the weight of the machine as a plus. It probably makes it more stable when doing unilateral exercises. Question: If you needed extra weight/resistance, could you add either free weights (maybe with 2 collars a side) or resistance bands to the barbell? Obviously the AI couldn't track that, but I could see adding some loop bands to a deadlift or even a squat.
For your question, maybe. If the holes on the plates are large enough it could work. I can't recommend it as I don't have any way to test it, but I think it is possible based on how the new adjustable bar works.
How do you feel this compares to the Vitruvian one you tried, excluding price and purely on the performance. The vitruvian can go up to double the weight resistance right?
The Vitruvian is only better in 2 ways: Can provide up to 400lbs or resistance (biggest pro) You can fail out of a set and the machine ends it for you after a few seconds. Otherwise, the Speediance is better as you get access to pull-downs and other exercises like seated rows. If they can catch up with the max resistance, it would be an easy win for Speediance. I personally prefer the Speediance for my current needs.
I got the Speediance for free around the launch of the product. Because of this, I did not have the long waiting period. I have seen quite a lot of comments regarding it though, which is upsetting. Great product, but a newer company trying to get the product out with what looks like pretty high demand.
I saw in other reviews that if you lift one side of the barbell, the resistance will turn off as a safety mechanism. Does that feature not work as well as it sounds?
My understanding is any quick drop or movement will turn off the pull of the machine. I've only had it happen once in my test where I let go to see what would happen and it did turn it off. I haven't had it do anything though when just using one cable at a time (I would think this would match your example just moving only 1 cable). It may be that it also has to be quick retracting to cause the system to shut off.
There is something I want to know: When I make a template by my self and I do the Workout and get more reps done, will the machine adapt the weight with the next set or next Workout. And in my template: can i change to exentric mode?
I don't use the AI setup as it is funky. I personally just add the resistance the next time. I hope they can improve that feature. If I use the AI, it overwrites what I am trying to do and just adds more sets and such, but I don't want that so some rules need to be in place.
Speediance is my preferred as it has the option to do pulldowns and seated cable rows. The man issue (outside of price) is the max resistance but is still in a range I can work with.
Speediance. Mostly because it can do everything I want. I just need Speediance to update how a set completes when you fail a rep (also improves safety), and add more resistance and I would be all set - also add calf raises and shrugs.
How loud is this? I was surprised by how loud the Vitruvian was, something I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere before I got it. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to noise but trying to work out while what sounded like two hair dryers ran under my feet was very distracting.
It just a little quieter than the Vitruvian. It can get a bit loud when resistance is applied as it has to jumpstart the fans to cool the machine. Still not too bad for me, but if you are sensitive to it, that hasn't changed much.
I wonder if they invite trainers to develop their own workouts. I'd enjoy seeing what Ellington Darden would do with this machine. His last book emphasizes eccentric movement, but it's hard to follow because instead of changing reps, you change weight when you need more difficulty. It's hard to explain, but this machine would be great for what he was trying to accomplish.
That would be pretty cool. I have my own custom workout I follow and is on gamerbody.com for free. I also add it to the HEVY app each time I do a workout for those that want to follow my progress :)
Not necessarily. I'd actually probably go more towards resistance bands, but I think I'll keep all 3 for now. I am using Speediance for a little while until my next item.
Seem solid right now. Not sure on replacements though but you would most likely have to return the product to the company which could be a pain to get fixed. It does weigh so getting it shipped back may be tough (and possibly expensive). Just my thoughts.
🤔 IMO They need to sell this without a screen for $1200 and just use your phone. They're competing with a squat rack with cables, bench, weights & bar for around $1200. Of course this is much more compact, "smarter", and movable.
They do have the Gym Pal (I have a separate video on that) but it is just a standing platform. It uses your phone though, so it would be interesting in they made something inbetween the two options.
I've been using it the past couple of weeks, and it is only getting better and better. I hate how much it costs, but it has been a really good experience for me so far.
How about the "Gym Pal", their much cheaper platform? It supposedly has the same resistance for less than half the price. I'd be ok with giving up pulldowns for 1500 dollars cheaper...I have a pull-up bar.
Yeah I noticed after that hooks were with mine and are awesome. Hopefully you can get the ring to connect. Definitely reach out to support if you have trouble with it.
All that looks OK, I could even get past the price but the max resistance is an issue. If I shell out that much and max out the machine on day one, on any exercise, I wouldn't be happy. Even if I couldn't do 220 for reps, just knowing I could max out my new $3000 machine would leave me a bit sour.
True but that's for power lifters. For regular guys even when you max out you can increase the volume by the number of reps. Plus consider another thing, the magnetic resistance feels very different to free weights because you can't apply momentum. Your 220lbs feels more closely to about 250lbs becase you need to stabilize it and that's quite a bit already. If I was to exceed 250lbs, I'd prefer to go the regular gym with a training partner.
@@MrDomestosWC yeah, but 220 isn't much for legs. And the whole point of dropping $3,000 on a home gym is not to go to the gym. It's got its benefits for sure, older people, stay-at-home mom, people into yoga and toning. Most grown men seriously into fitness will exceed that with their legs easily on day one and be bench pressing that before long, if they can't already
the only problem is that 100 kg could be too few even for those who have been training well for 1 year.. they should add a version with more kg of resistance
I agree, however this is tailored more to the average person and 100KG with this machine is a lot harder than free weights as you can use momentum to carry the weight through space once it is moving. If you haven't tried something similar I highly recommend it. I think a 300 would be perfect, with 400 being more than 99% of people will ever need, but 300 would be a good goal.
Yes. They even have a separate eccentric only mode (only if Free lift though). I use just the classic resistance option which has constant resistance on concentric and eccentric.
You could use it for that. You would probably setup some kind of guest account and free-lift while you track their workouts. I'd ask speediance how that might work with multiple profiles though first.
Really want this but my home bedroom is also my home office and while I do have room. I think getting it up the stairs would a pain. Also it's super expensive. Interested to see this home gym space grow and prices come down.
There is the Gym Pal, but you do miss out on the vertical bars. Getting the Gym Monster up stairs would be terrible unless you have 3-4 people helping.
Smooth. Of course, once you start failing an exercises it may be "jerky" just because you can't push/pull anymore, but if you are doing the initial reps and can do them, it is a smooth experience.
@@MrPetrello Yes, that could also be a problem. I do prefer the Speediance overall to the Vitruvian. The only benefit the Vitruvian has over this is the max resistance it can provide. It does say the system should last at least 13 years on the website (working out 2 hours a day every day), but things can always happen to shorten that, or the company could go under. Hopefully, that does not occur.
@@GamerBody tonal has swivel arms so can go a good bit wider for flys etc. also can go well higher for pulldowns too. It has a small bit more resistance , a way better selection of workouts and you bolt it to the studs in your wall so it’s super stable and takes up no space.
@@apcfitness I agree with everything except bolting into the wall. That is something I want to stay away from as much as possible. Of course that is just my preference. How do you know the workout selection is better? Have you used Speediance before? I've heard they are good, but as I have not used the Tonal I have no idea how they compare.
@@GamerBody I have tried the tonal and from your videos the workouts seem to be lacking on the speediance. That’s a small thing cause besides from beginners nobody really needs follow along workouts. I don’t mind bolting in the wall actually it’s a huge bonus. I try to bolt all my equipment down in my home gym. I like having super stable machines. Lastly the tonal can be directly compared to say a functional trainer like the prime/free motion while speediance can’t. When I get a bigger gym and am looking to put a functional trainer in the tonal will be my go to. Atm I just use my lat/low row.
I've been looking through it and I only see the modes in Free Lift so you may be right. That is a drawback for sure, but at least it is software based so it should be something they can add in the future.
@@GamerBody I hope they put it in as I bought for my son who lives with his mother , I have a tonal and weight and movement feels the same but the fact that advance features are only in free lift mode does not even make sense
May have to try it when it becomes necessary to have a home gym next year. I have a 395 bench max so I’m a little worried. However high reps are always a good time.
Definitely very expensive, but in terms of resistance, it is more than enough for the average person. 220 on this is a lot harder than 220 with free weights because you can use momentum to help you. If you are looking to compete in a powerlifting sport, then I would want more than this can provide (and you would want to practice with the weights you would compete with anyways).
@@GamerBody Next few months not years, if you do a search online you can checkout many of the overseas smart gyms ultimately bringing the price down to where it will be affordable soon. Something like $1600 is decent and affordable.
