David Sanchez it’s not an actual charger look it up it’s all carbon hand crafted it only looks like a charger it doesn’t even sit on a charger body it’s custom
Since you have restored for so long, don't you kind of think this is cheating? It's beautiful of course but damn, it doesn't give me the whole "made in the shop" experience, more like conceived in a lab. I am genuinely interested.
If I could spec a dream car to my exact preferences, this is the exact car I’d want. The charger body, massive power, good handling, comfortable interior, manual transmission, modern lighting, exposed carbon fiber, exhaust fit into the rear bumper, black wheels low to the ground.... it’s...it’s perfect.
No Mopar should have anything but a pistol grip shifter handle.... every one has a round ball, the pistol grip is ours and NOBODY else ( I know it was only offered on '70 & up cars).... But every Mopar should have one!
I love this: the guy designs, 3D prints, CNCs, and custom makes an entire carbon fiber car and Jay finds the one thing made by someone else - Jay: "are these hood hinges made by the Ring Brothers? I LOVE these!" You can just see the guy's heart sink.
I love that concept of the evolution of hotrodding: printing & molding instead of welding & filler. I love seeing guys and builds that are pushing technology. I have to have one.
talking is usually the best part, you can see a lot of videos online of most of cars driving, but not so much information about them out there. Although this car isn't so interesting.
sam newman : If this tech becomes cheaper/production, somehow, scales up, this car will be much cheaper to build for the average Joe than a full scale restoration as you don't need to start with a good/average condition Charger any more. This fact makes this car very interesting in my opinion, as it's an example of a replica manufacturer/classic car restorer taking advantage of the fundamental possibilities modern tech has to offer - rather than using it to effect cosmetic changes and to build various bits of trim alone.
@@Stelios.Posantzis carbon fibre will eventually become dirt cheap as technology progresses. That carbon fibre "look" will seem very dated and very of its time. I imagine eventually carbon fibre will replace most plastics in homes.
My dream job was to be an automotive journalist like Car and Driver, Motor Trend, etc. Get paid to drive cool cars, travel, and write about cars ...what could be a better job than that?
@@Snake-ms7sj hey brother. With RU-vid and social media, why don't you make it happen? Start a channel today and start talking cars. It's never too late (God willing).
This is literally the most impressive car I have ever seen, It makes my 71 stock'ish' Charger from back in the day. look like a car made of iron a century before this one. Amazing Job.
The Charger is a huge barge, but it's cool. That engine looks small in there because it is small. Those current hemis are tiny looking next to a big block Mopar or BBC.
That's the way muscle cars were back then. I had a '68 Toronado with the Olds 455 big block and still practically had enough room to crawl into the bay to work on it.
I had 3 of these chargers. all 1970's. even to this day people know me as the kid with the chargers. one had a 440 magnum engine with hooker headers and a 4 barrel holly carb. it was so fast it felt like it would go airborne. we used to drag race on Atlantic avenue in brooklyn ny and i used to dust camaro z28 and firebirds and corvettes but the buick 442 did give me a run for the money. it was the 1970's the muscle car golden era. wow.
@@robertedwardlee8227 I've never liked lowered cars, they look stupid and are totally non-functional in everyday use. This car here would be 100X cooler if it looked like a stock Charger R/T that just happened to be carbon fiber. But they have to make it look trick considering its a $400,000 car
When I was 16, in the 80's, I used to dream about building something like this. Not sure if I want one now, but I thinks it's awesome that people are making them.
Ed Axeman I was wondering how much because of that body besides everything else. I’d like a carbon 63 split window Corvette with a modern corvette power plant and drivetrain . Of course I’d have to win the lottery first .
Yes. Nothing is better then seeing the 3ft tall spoiler, that extra footlong wedge noise. The Daytonna Charger will always hold the first car to break 200 in NASCAR. Second best muscle of all time. The only thing better is the Challenger or the Cuda.
I never ceases to amaze me the amount of technical knowledge and craftsmanship that this younger generation has. I'm going to credit that to their dads as much as to them.
This isn't a classic muscle car. There's not a single original Charger part in it lol. That being said... if Speedkore could kindly start producing new Charger shells made of steel/aliminium, I'd buy one.
@@davyrando1203 Yes sir thank you,I learned how to form metal and do body work with my hands as a teenager. The best cars I ever seen restored or customized by top notch car builders used steel! Now there's one car that is real and plastic and that's a corvette. If it ain't steel,it ain't real!
The build quality and level of details is incredible, David Salvaggio and Speedkore design and build insane vehicles, I know that his work is well known. I remember seeing one of his builds 10-15 years ago, a Black 70 Challenger 572 Hemi, with an injector intake, the car was an exceptional build!
Jay isn't afraid to drive ANY car, and he always respects their power. Beautiful car. I personally wouldn't have lowered the car. But I respect what went into building this Charger.
Only if they do to the Mustang as they did to the Charger. That would be MY ultimate wet dream car, 60's Mustang done in all carbon with a ginormous modern motor 😍🤤😭
What a car. You can keep all your hypercars, hybrid supercars and whatnot. The American muscle car, updated with 2020s tech, is just a work of art. Love it.
I'm a Ford truck guy for modern day vehicles,, but all the 60-70's muscle cars I like them all. This car is so mean looking it would be the car chasing me in my nightmares.
@Stealth Customs Corporation Me too. I knew the guy that did it -- and he knew I was after him. He fled Michigan, I tracked him to Florida, back to Michigan, and lost him when he escaped to California. I trust I need say no more.
@Stealth Customs Corporation Ahh, that would be so cool ... but at this stage in life, I get to keep about fifteen bucks per month for myself, and being disabled, I'm not nearly active enough to undertake such a project, any more.
I literally saw Up to Speed and came here because they didn't crank up the Engine! Thanks Jay Leno! Still like James at Up to Speed. But man he should have had a chance to film starting up this Beast!
I just want to say that I had my dad watch this and he heard jay mention how thin and light the door was. He said even in 68 my dad's friend had a 68 charger rt 440 auto and dad said that Chrysler always made their muscle cars light and tin like when you shut the door or trunk. Dad had a 68 roadrunner 440 4 speed and said the motor is going to rip the car apart. Tires were a big issue to. Haha. Thanks Jay.
I'm a big believer that cars are made to be driven, not collected. This car is AMAZING, but I couldn't drive it even if I could afford it. It is a real work of art!
Starting at $400k, that's kinda absurd. Especially about bragging how fast you can build a body, or how you 3D print parts because its so fast and easy.
@@Crazohz Well entire carbon fiber body, 3d printing everything, forged wheels, sick motor, handling bits plus its a concept I dont think they plan on mass producing.. Its either this or a ferrari and lots of people will prefer this
Jay Carbon Fibers one weakness IS fire and heat, the stuff absolutely melts, Sam Crac had a Lambo Muricalgo that he showed in a copart auction yard from a battery charger that went up in flames, and the entire back end had gone limp from the fire as the whole car was made from it.
@@clavo420 And how does the original one makes it more interesting? What would you do to make it more interesting while making it safe and modern that would scream - "quality!" ? Sure there's a possibility to change paint the body in different way, but this is just a showcasing the whole car, I can bet you can color it as you wish afterwards, so I see no point in complaining about it being boring when you can just make it how you see fit. But okey, you, just like most of us, if not everyone, can't even afford these, but to anyone who got the money, he can customize it further by making it, in your definition, more "interesting".
Another great car and episode from Jay Leno's garage. If this were my car I would have them impregnate the clearcoat with dark green metallic so looks green from afar but can see the fibers up close. Then I would have them raise the car two inches and put in air ride suspension. Then I would have them make light bar brake lights. That would be an awesome car. I liked him showing parts that were 3d printed. That's definitely the future of aftermarket auto parts.
Too low. I miss old movies when people took these cars offroad like it was nothing. Vanishing Point is the obvious, but I just watched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot with Clint and Jeff Bridges.
