Great review doc. I have about 75 miles on mine. I love them. The lockdown with the Boa Li2 dials is second to none. I definitely take advantage of the system and change the dials mid run. It is very fast. i have pre ordered the Cam Hanes edition that came out last week. The midsole is a little softer on this one. The price is the same. As you stated the price is due to the sourcing of no compromise materials and limited production. It is a Bespoke spare no expense in production shoe. You get what you pay for and that is all we can ask.
Matt, Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and make a great comment/feedback. I was contemplating ordering the new Cam Hanes edition, but was waiting to hear back if the midsole will be a tad bit softer. Now that you say it will be, I'll put my name in tomorrow. I just came back from 25 miles on the trails with my GS TAMS. Started with humidity and 93 humid degrees. After 2 miles, the skies opened up, temp dropped to 71 humid degrees and the trails turned to flash flood streams. So, that was 23 miles in downpour conditions. The shoes felt way better than they had on the previous 75 miles I had on them and drained real well. I'm getting ready to edit a short of me on the trails with them. Thanks again Matt. Don't forget to subscribe if you have not yet. Keep Pushing The Run!!!
@@pushtherun Slightly softer HTPU midsole for a plusher ride. Same Pbax material for the insole. According to Speedland. I’m thinking both of us will like these better. I got the NB more V3 trail shoe on your recommendation last week and love them. A lot!
@@mattpeters6224 Thanks for the extra feedback on the new Speedland shoe. Happy to hear you like the NB FF X More v3. Definitely a cushy shoe, but after now dialing in the GS: TAMs, I think I'll be keeping the NB for the very long ultras. With 5 shoes in my trail rotation right now, the NB are def the heaviest. Keep Pushing!!! Lots of great vids coming out the next few weeks.
Thanks for watching and commenting. For me, the SPEEDLANDs were too firm and I was not a big fan of the lacing system. It's a bit wider shoe and I have narrow feet so there was a little movement. For comfort and overall Max Cushioning, my favorite is still the NB. The Asics Trabuco Max was a bit firm for me personally and narrow in the toe box which cause blistering on my right foot. I've had others say the same on the Trabuco Max with blistering. All depends on what level of cush you like and if you have a wide or narrow foot. Thanks for the question as it is an idea for a new video comparison. The past month, the top 2 videos have actually been on the NB Trail shoe and Asics Trabuco Max. And, I made those several months ago. Keep Pushing the Miles.
Ran 12 km with my Salomon Ultra Glide today. It is very airy and doesn't run hot, also rather narrow shape and long. But the cushioning is in the right places, under the foot and at the collar. Just quicklaces, no Boa system. Boa seems to depend a lot on the shoe. Carbon plates, never had them in a trail shoe yet. I have carbon plate like shoes with speedboards, propulsion plates and whatever they are called by marketing. They usually add some forefoot protection and give a sort of stability that I like. I am looking forward to the next year version of the Salomon Pulsar Pro which will get a new heel, that of the non pro version which I liked more funnily. The Speedland shoes are hard to get and try in Europe, but La Sportiva and Scarpa might make a Boa trailrunner, too Salomon uses Boa so far only for boots.
Thanks for watching. I've tried a lot of Salomon and used to sell them in my 3 run shops. I have a new pair of Salomons to open and try out this week. I've tried Scarpa and La Sportiva but all the models seem too firm for what I like. I may be getting a couple La Sportivas though to try as they are probably the most rugged shoes on the market worldwide. Don't forget to register to be included in our monthly drawings. Push The Run!!!
Did you end up having to trim down the front of the insole padding to relive the toe blister? Or did it eventually solve itself on it's own after they broke in? I have 2 runs on my speedlands and have that exact same issue of 3rd toe rubbing on my left foot.
No, I didn't trim anything off. I would have sent them back before doing that. I did like the shoes at the start, but a bit too form and wide for me. My trail shoe of choice currently is the New Balance SC Trail. Super fast, bouncy and responsive. Keep Pushin!!!
I ordered the GS:PGH, I don't mind the price if it lasts me 600-800 miles and the performance is there. I've tried the gamut, and there is always something that is missing. Poor grip but great midsole, bad midsole but good grip etc. I'm hoping this can go the distance and handle many types of terrain that we have in Boulder, CO area. (Plus some races in 2024 that I have my eyes on)
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, on the socks, I typically wear a mid to heavy cushioned trail sock. Sometimes I wear Injingi toe socks other times heavier cushioned from other brands. I know these were designed to be wider in the forefoot to allow for toe box splay. I'm one of those who likes a semi-rounded toe box, but still providing lateral support. Once the design is opened up, such as these, the support is gone. For me, that also translates into lateral foot movement which can lead to blistering or black toe nails. The new model that you bought presumably has a longer lug outsole and one that will last a bit longer. I always love to try the new shoes that have new tech design to see how it moves the enjoyment of The Run. In the end for me, it's whether the shoe increases my comfort level and running economy. Keep pushing the miles!!!
No, they are plastic in construction. Aluminum would increase the weight. BOA dials are practically indestructible. Thanks for watching and commenting. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE if you have not already in order to be included in out monthly drawings.
The SL:HSV has the aluminum BOA dials. Both are LI2 but the flagship Speedland shoe is the one that gets the more premium anodized aluminum dials.@@pushtherun
I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and commenting. I can tell you that this shoe is like a bottle of fine wine...It gets better with time.
