I can’t imagine being one of these drivers after one of these events and getting into a normal car even a supercharged GT500 fully worked probably feels like nothing compared to these cars 🤣🤣🤣
You can say that again. When you stand at the starting line you can suddenly comprehend how the shock wave alone from a bomb going off could kill you. The concussion of their launch is unreal. You you have to brace yourself to keep from flipping your camera out of your hands
davidgreid007 YES! This is how it’s done! No bullshit music, no shaky footage... crystal clear video and the roar of those engines blasting out my ear drums like I was there! And as a side note... after decades of searching for Jungle Pam’s replacement... here she is! All business.. no bullshit.. and hot as hell!!
I really miss that part of my early life. As a part of a Professional Drag Racing Team. Loved the smells. The sounds and the engines and tires spinning. Pro Bracket Racing on a low budget but we had a really great team doing it. Race gas rules. Long live NHRA.
I love that smell, that almost vanilla smell that comes from these nitro-methane cars & you chest shaking even in the stands. It’s something to watch but incredible to feel.
Cruzredeye , for the absolute best experience go to Bristol motor speedway in Bristol, Tennessee/ Virginia. You’ll find out why it’s known as thunder valley. It’s in a narrow valley in between steep hills and the drag cars using Nitromethane overwhelm your senses! The sound gets bounced off the narrow valley walls and right into your ears. That along with the smell of nitromethane will give a real gear head a hardon better than JLO at her best!
Art Tafil I’ve always wanted to go to Bristol. Denver is hard up against the mountains and the stands are very close to the track. The sound bounces off of those red rocks very well. The first part of the track uses an industrial cooling unit to keep the track temperature down for the launch area and 300 or so feet down the track. It seems to work well. Denver is closer to where I live. Maybe I’ll try to get to Bristol this year if the whole country isn’t shut down or quarantined by this GD “plague”.
I still remember when these things started to get under 5 second quarter miles and thought it will be near impossible to go faster. Next step will be being shot out of a canon.
Amen to that!!! The feeling of the vibrations from the ground in the stands alone is incredible. An the fire from the pipes...I think am gonna cry excuse me,
Circa 8:31... It's extremely important that the team member guiding the driver back into the burnout tracks is a hot woman wearing high heeled boots. Girls rock!
I grew up collecting Hot Rod cards, the way that most other boys collected baseball cards. I had some of those too, but they were boring. These cars were like living, breathing DRAGONS!! I always will remember when I was in 7th grade, the first man to crack the 6-second barrier! and now, they're going 330mph in just half that!! Incredible!!
guysmalley my point was 6.7 seconds for 99.9% or cars on the planet would be insanely quick, yet this car did it only trying for half the track and I thought that was funny
Who are these crazy people in every video without ear protection? These machines can litterally blow your eardrums out. For God sake there were people on the starting line plugging theyre ears😵. Myself first time seeing funny cars in the 70's, from the grandstands my Father said " you have to plug your ears and open your mouth to equalize the pressure" Boy he was not joking. You could feel the concussion in your face and chest when they hit the throttle! People please wear ear protection when you go to the drags. It's more enjoyable than ruptured ear drums. ✌
I've been going to NHRA and IHRA drag races for 46 or 47 years now. Alot of these comments sounds like they are coming from a bunch of rookies that have only seen a race on RU-vid. So many are amazed at 60 gallons to the mile. The last time that I asked at a drag strip I was told by one of the teams, back in 2017 they told me that Nitro methane was $16.36 a gallon (55 gallon drum was $900.00)
It's Top Fuel. It changes your life. Brings humility to everyone , almost a torture, , but with a smile. Kinda like surfing , even if you don't go back again. Nitrojunkie for life!!.
Hell yeah man! There's nothing I love more than exposure of the best sport on Earth and getting people exposed to it and hopefully to an event where they can be up close and personal with either nostalgia or Big Show cars! Thanks for posting, Nitro for all! :-) :-)
Look at all the stupid socialist and antifa fruits and that's why our motorsports and so many other enjoyable things are in decline. It's all on the shoulders of 50yr old plus people mostly as the youngers are wrapped up in bull crap stuff. Go anywhere else in World and Most autosports still thriving. Just saying
I can remember when Drag Racing was fun. Back in the day you could build a dragster from a Honest Charlie and or Moon Eyes catalog and every one looked different. To a track packed with screaming fans. Now there are more people on the starting line then in the stands...so sad...Frank
Somebody can explain to me please ? Why the right track, the car is a little bit in advance compare to the other one in left track ? Have a reason ? Thanks for your answers.
Tony Schumacher went 337.58mph at Brainerd 15 years ago (I was there, watched it live) Sure, thats not 338, but it's daaamn close. And considering it was 15 years ago, everyone should be able to EASILY run 338 today, if they were still running 1320.
Those blocks are poured solid in the cooling system with a substance that is like a plaster of Paris to promote even Cooling the top of the engine stays pretty cool because at the end of 1320 ft if you put your hand on the blower it'll be freezing
They talk about fuel consumption it's something equal to or more than a 747 taking off. What they spend on fuel in a couple weekends you can build a nice engine for your car.
I have been out of the sport for a while. What are these things running these days? 1500, 1600 horse power? 1800? Maybe 2000? Got to be a lot for those times. Last race I watched was in 1966.
