It's really cool they released these, I can't help but notice that they always use mastiffs ( not a hound in any stretch of the imagination) when needing a model for a dog
Nice review, as always! The force cage box could also be used as a gelatinous cube, in a pinch. I feel that Mordenkainen's sword and Leomund's hidden chest are unnecessary additions to this set though, as chests are dime a dozen, and the first set of spell effects had a sword mini(although on fire), and Dungeon of the Mad Mage had flying sword minis. I hope the Almiraj is released as an actual prepainted mini as well, and not just a spell effect. :)
Indeed. Though I do like that the chest has a lid with a hinge on it. That seems special to me. I think the sword was already sculpted so it was an inexpensive thing to add. Good call on the gelatinous cube. And yeah, since they've made a mold for the Almiraj, I bet we'll see a regular mini for it soon. :-) -Theo
True, there aren't that many chests with functional lids, and even if it wasn't already sculpted, the sword would probably be one of the easier ones to sculpt anyway. I don't mind that they're there, it just feels a bit unnecessary to me. But if I get this set, I'll probably use at least the sword. The chest is more likely to just be used as a chest, or not at all. ;) But yeah, really hoping for an almiraj! I'd also love to see a jackalope. So cute! :D
Great review once again! Man this set feels somehow even more than the previous set. I dunno why but it seems like you get more pieces for your money. Great to see so many classic spells I have known since 2E finally given shape and form! The translucent Mordenkainen's Sword and Hound are excellent. And I guess this means Halaster can summon THAT many swords??? That's scary. The force cages are excellent. I gotta try whether I can cage a Huge mini under the bigger one, like a Frogemoth! The Almiraj is adorable. And you are right, it healing outside battle seems cheap, almost 4E unbalanced where the characters (even fighters) could just heal X times per day after encounters non-magically. Best to keep this spell to just combat use, I feel -it's like a less powerful version of Regeneration.
That’s the dragonborn Arkhan the Cruel and Krull, death cleric tortle, from the upcoming Icons of the Realms: Arkhan the Cruel and The Dark Order set for which you can see the review at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Wxhr4bNz9c.html
