@@JoannaNFPS unfortunately they dropped the ball...if you already know her whole story it feels like a twisted horror artsy fable of what was going on in her mind... so in that way its visually eye grabbing...... but honestly it gives zero information that i think we all deep down know we want and need about her life, frankly im ashamed that they didn't give more information.. they simply made her look even crazier + twisted many pure facts. almost like they watched none of her interviews or didnt even read her own book before making the movie.... im sort of still in shock how un-accurate it was and fear it will twist things ever further for everyone
They're both are great actors, they've always been a great actors. They just need to choose better scripts and good director to work with, they could act very well. It's awesome to see Kristen and Robert improving a lot in choosing better projects
Forgot about that little buggar, him being english and all. And she is a yank playing the people's princess, wonder if he minds it setting aside his personal feelings.
This is a perfect example as to why directors and studios should pick the underdog. Kristen is the last choice anyone would have for Princess Diana but here she is proving everyone all wrong. This is going to expand Kristen’s career in a way that will finally show us what she is capable as an actor. Wishing her all the success and love!
True, at first I was like "Kristen Stewart as Diana, really??" She's a good actress but I never thought she's gonna play Diana. When I heard Pablo Larrain is directing, I have hope for this because he's an excellent director, look at Jackie. With a great director like Larrain, he knows what he's doing
"Out of all the people who have played Diana over the past 10 years, she's the closest to her" "She managed to perfect her mannerisms" "She confined herself to spending time in the kitchen with the chef or with people like me, in the hope that time would while away, and she could get back to London" -Ken Wharfe, Former bodyguard of Princess Diana on Kristen Stewart's performance
@@jeepamir508 I mean it's a good thing that the movie got praised from someone who worked closely to Diana so that's the highest honor the movie could've get. Kristen was phenomenal as Diana
I just saw Spencer at a film festival. It’s incredibly moving and every detail is mesmerizing, including the film score. Beautifully filmed and acted. I’m hoping it’s rewarded with many awards.
There are moments she really looked like Princess Diana, especially with those subtle expressions that she makes imitating her. Kristen will definitely get that Oscar nom
I don't think she looks like her, but hey it's all about the performance. Natalie Portman didn't look like Jackie Kennedy in "Jackie" and Margot Robby didn't look like Tonia Harding in "I, Tonia", didn't stop me from enjoying the performances.
@@samf.s.7731 I don’t think Kristen looks like Diana either, but her acting and even just the body language are so good that I began thinking she really looked like her. They can style anyone same as Diana and still not look like Diana. That’s why the acting helps a lot and Kristen did such an amazing job here
@@samf.s.7731 I think Kristen would look a lot more like Diana if they for once in their lives got Dianas haircut even slightly accurate on someone portraying her. It's like they don't even try. In The Crown it was completely flat. Layers are not a thing apparently.
I can feel Princess Diana's depression in Kristen's eyes. The pain, holding one's breath in order not to burst. From this trailer, it looks like it's not an impersonation but a personification of Princess Diana's sadness, loneliness and her struggle to fight it all. I can't wait to see the full movie.
Im glad you noticed that. Many sources say that Diana struggled with borderline personality disorder. She felt emotions too strongly and had a difficult time regulating them. You should read it into it if you're curious! It's quite fascinating. It looks like this movie will touch on her mental health more accurately.
Looking forward to see if this film can make me change my mind about Kristen as an actress. The range of emotions and expressions she has shown in the films I've seen her in before has been small. But then, my guess is that this film will focus on the boken part, the sad part of Diana - and that will Kirsten do well. The suffering role. But I hope I get surprised and see Kirsten portray a wider range of emotions.
This movie touched the deepest part of my heart. During one part of the movie I started to feel so identified with it that I had a panic attack, I felt so overwhelmed, I felt like I was going to die. It hurts me to see that we allow people to hurt us so much that we reach a point of losing our common sense This movie marked a moment in my life.
I am so proud of her, the competition will be tough, she goes alongside with Jessica Chastain who was nominated before, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and last, but not least Olivia Colman who beautifully portrayed her character in The Lost Daughter. I wonder if they would give the award to Kristen as a groundbreaking turn for her career.
@@william.valentine Who cares, the fact that we see "Academy Award Nominee" and "Kristen Stewart" in the same sentence from now on till the rest of the career for her future projects is all i wanted!!!!! Hoping that she will win but nevertheless, i'm glad she made it through!!! Better to be nominated instead of NOTHING. They literally saved the best for last, not many people expected her to be nominated due to the BAFTA and SAG snub then The Academy was like "hold my beer" XD
I know she has had some acclaimed indie performances, but those are indie to the point that not many people know about them. With such an iconic historical figure, Kristen Stewart really has a chance here to prove herself as a great actress.
Everything looks impeccable from the accent, costumes to the cinematography and the production overall. But what struck me the most was the way Kristen carries herself. She's transformed, maybe not in terms of resemblance to Diana, but more like in a spiritual and behavioural manner. I believe her portrayal of the dear Lady Di will really be one for the ages.
When things were at their very worst: 2 Suns, Cross in the sky, 2 comets will collide = don`t be afraid - repent, accept Lord`s Hand of Mercy. Scientists will say it was a global illusion. Beware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again. After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way. Don`t trust „pope“ Francis = the False Prophet - will seem to rise from the dead - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one. One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist. Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent. "Arab uprising will spark global unrest - Italy will trigger fall out" "Many events, including ecological upheavals, wars, the schism in My Church on Earth, the dictatorships in each of your nations - bound as one, at its very core - will all take place at the same time." The Book of Truth.
Thought so too - the way she moves is really different here. She has very distinctive traits and quirks and it's all gone, she looks and sounds completely transformed.
Some things seem off about this film though. When queen Liz is outside and the shot of Diana in that blue dress…seems like a green screen background behind her. Same when she’s in the library arguing with Charles. The background on both of them seem so hilariously fake, green screen. Low budget? Or what? Seems so cheap, compared to what this film deserves.
This role actually makes sense for Kristen. We all remember back in the height of the Twilight mania she was a mega star who loathed the attention and got a lot of flack for not “behaving” the way a hugely over exposed star was expected to. It evidently produced a lot of anxiety for her. I know being an actress is not nearly the same as being THE princess Diana, but still the experience probably gave her something very personal to channel for this role. I bet she slays it.
The scene when she is sat to eat a green soup and the paranoia starts making her swallow the big pearls. IT WAS FANTASTIC The pearl necklace thing was amazing the whole movie
@@arielpuma4512 like the Prince of Wales would ever give his wife and lover a cheap dime store necklace like that. Attention boys: real precious pearls are knotted separately, so they don't roll away should the necklace break
I can't believe this is the same Kristen that played Bella. Granted, she worked with what she was given just as much as Robert did back then, but she's come so far and improved so much that I can't help but be proud of her. I am really hyped for Lady Gaga's portrayal of Patrizia Gucci but I hope that Kristen will be the one to get an Oscar this time.
Maybe matured is the better word. She was good, but the role that really got her into popular consciousness...didn't exactly have a lot of depth. But she kept going past that and found her stride.
i never really had a problem with kristen stewart, she is actually a great actress and i thought she shines the most when she's in independent films. i'll be rooting for her for an oscar nomination on this one, she deserved it.
Very true. Hollywood and critics have really done her dirty. I had the same view before, but after I saw her in other, indie films, I really respected her as an actor. She's an amazing actor
@@liz8129 and there are still many people that don't believe she's a good actress. She's still getting too much hate for Twilight, that's really unfortunate cuz Twilight was not her fault, it was in the shitty script and bad direction. She has been improving a lot. People just like to jump into conclusion without even giving her a chance, it's sad
@@Fl0k5ser Agreed. Kristen was asked to play a bland, emotionless bore with no other interests outside of her vampire boyfriend for five movies and that's what we got.
@@anujpramanik1819 Jessica Chastain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye has entered the chat. Plus Penelope Cruz in Parallel Mothers won the Best Actress prize at Venice over Stewart in Spencer. So she is not a lock to win.
@@richierich7229 Only one foreign actress has won best actress in the last 20 years, so Cruz has to be extraordinary to pull that off, which going by the reviews doesn't seem to be the case. Same with Jessica, some consider her overbearing, others unfamiliar with the subject enlightening...overall the movie itself has been criticized on many counts so despite her performance I don't think it's her time yet. I could vouch for Caitriona Balfe but no one knows her. Waiting for Frances (unlikely because of last year's win), Gaga (looks like a dark comedy so probably will get ignored) and Blanchett (negative roles generally unpopular with the academy) now.
I think this portrayal of the royal family is even more radical than in The Crown. Also, that castle and it's interiors are giving off such a spooky and claustrophobic vibe, kind of like what Lady Diana was feeling at the time. Was pretty cynical on this one but Kristen seems to have nailed it!
@@MonicaSilva-rh7lm I thought that family hated how they were portrayed in The Crown's 4th season. There was a lot of controversy on the amount of creative license taken.
I hate the fact the whole world hates her because of Twilight, yet they didn't watch any other movies she starred in. She played a disabled teenager at ONLY 17 years old,she impersonated both Joan Jett and princess Diana better than anyone ever will. She deserves every single Oscar there is and I'm so glad people are finally noticing her actual talent and realizing how much underrated she was all this time.
I've tried several times to watch Twilight ... usually get about 15 minutes in and end up being distracted and walking away. Then again I've never been able to watch Dirty Dancing, but I am proud to say I was able to complete the Titanic movie. I am not homophobic, but the very idea of attempting to watch brokeback mountain makes me feel nauseous.
@Norman I guess so. Oh well, I don't believe in discrimination in the workplace and I support gay marriage. Perhaps George Michael would be alive today if had been legal then?
I’m so glad she’s not constantly sound tired like Corrin’s Diana, all due respect she was excellent in the emotional scenes, this actually seems way less nuanced and more aggressive in a good way. Looks like it’ll do so well on streaming
"less nuanced"? This performance is actually more nuanced. And probably the one that's more nuanced in the five (possible) lead actress nominees, come Oscars.
Corrin's Diana Was Meant To Be Tired... That's Because They Only Showed Those Parts Of Life In The Crown... This One Goes On For Regular Basis Of Time... So We Can See All Kind Of Emotions.
You really can't compare both of them since we're talking about two different time periods of Diana. Corrin's was the beggining of Princess Diana, who slowly realizes that her fairytale life is just an illusion, while Kristen's is a more rebellious Diana, who decides to end her suffering in the Royal Family.
I never understood why everyone gave her such a hard time over Twilight, she did everything she could with a character that had basically no character traits other than bookworm, devoted daughter and lover of vampires. It wasn’t her fault Bella was kind of bland. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Twilight, the books and the movies, but Bella was a fairly empty cup. Stewart is a phenomenal actress, I’m glad people are beginning to see that.
People focus too much on Bella because Twilight is popular and it's the role that put her in the spotlight. They just refuse to see anything else so they can throw their cheap Twilight shots to beat a dead horse.
I felt like I was in a dream watching this movie. The cinematography, metaphors, music, and outfits were amazing. I will never get over this movie and it’s the best one I’ve seen this year. Definitely think shes about to sweep during award show season.
"There is no future" {F-ute-CHAR}. That sounded cockney not RP. It's "few-cha" with equal emphasis on both syllables not increased emphasis on the "cha".
I feel like people don't give enough credit for Pablo Larrain as a director. The reason why Kristen's performance looks so good is not just about herself but also from the directing. With a great director like Pablo Larrain, comes a great performance from Kristen. He's fully responsible for Kristen's performance and just like his work in Jackie, he does it very well
@@MasterBetty69 that's not like it grandpa, it’s clearly seen that she nailed it by her expression and acting.this is so heart touching. I hope she will get the Oscar for this.
This actually looks good. I bet Kristen Stewart is gonna absolutely slay this role. I think she could be built for it-being a part of an aristocratic family and all that-as the real Princess Diana was a whole lifetime ago. She left a significant mark in this world, and I guess we have Stewart right here to hopefully portray that accurately.
Although The Crown is amazing series and deserve all the awards, I think this movie portrays Diana's thoughts and emotional distress better. The time flew by while I was in the cinema. The movie is excellent!!
The director Pablo Larrain is one of the most underrated filmmakers working today, almost everything he’s done could be considered a masterpiece (See: “No”, “The Club”, “Neruda” and especially “Jackie”)
Damn the pain in her eyes and that head tilt! Kristen Stewart's own life is the emotional sauce for this role. A woman who is thrust into fame and prestige and cannot take the pressures of the apparent success nor the urge to sacrifice her deepest needs.
@@jacobsed6665 Why? Because it didn’t have enough action? What did you expect? I thought the movie was phenomenally made. Beautiful score, excellent acting by Kristen Stewart. Such a depth of emotion from her. I feel like everyone saying it was bad or boring missed the point entirely.
Kristen's great! She was the best part of the new Charlie's Angels movie. The Twilight movies did nothing for any of the actors in them. Robert Pattinson, for example, is a fantastic actor.
She may have talent but she's wasted in terrible movies and that's her choice too. BTW having "goosebumps" is abit over the top and exaggerated, she's only getting praise because she's a gay actress nothing more.
She has always been a good actress ever since before Twilight. Remember when she played Jodie Foster's daughter in David Fincher's Panic Room? She was pretty good in that movie. She just need to choose better scripts and director, that's all she needs
Pablo Larraín + Kristen Stewart + Jonny Greenwood + Jacqueline Durran = a movie with a great performance, presented with a different angle, amazing costume design and music that will makes you feel things.
Did anyone notice the scarecrow in the middle of the field when she asks: will they kill me, d'you think? It looks like a cross on a headstone. And then it cuts to the scene in the car
@@Cindy24412 I read an article a while ago and it said that that occasional "boyfriend" of hers, Dodi something, he wanted to impress Diana by running away from the paparazzi and circumventing the plan of the security team itself. And not only that, that car had problems before but they still used it. The slapped driver was feeling appropriately unbeatable and gave what he gave, all died except the bodyguard Trevor Jones who, surprise, was the only one wearing a seat belt. Jones was already uptight with Dodi and his off-the-cuff impulsiveness putting people at risk.
This is a non-complicated movie, makes one to be afraid, to wanting to be free, to wanting to fight for freedom. I sensed a whole lot of life lessons from this one particular movie that depicts pure actions of emotions, the music, the children and her name!
Kristen Stuart is completely unavoidable in her complex acting senses and goes beyond our imagination in her enigmatic, timely portrayal of our favorite Princess ... hats off to her 100%

Every fan says this but seriously, check out her roles in indie films, she's fantastic! On the flipside, I'm also really digging all the love in the comments for Stewart and the Oscar buzz this film is bringing. Can't wait to watch this film!
Probably because she had left people with a bad taste from her acting during that time, and now when she does rolls today it’s hard to see her doing those kind of rolls, like I don’t believe her to be a mom in movies when she’s not one in real life, I can see the no connection but the acting if that makes sense? She’s good but u can tell when she acts
Twilight doesn't even bother me. She played the character exactly how its written in the book and exactly how Stephanie Meyers wanted her portrayed. She is a great actress and has been proving that since speak and panic room. Twilight just happened to be tween fantasy cringe, but she nailed the essence of Bella lol.
She has always been a great actress. For Twilight, it's not her fault, that's just how the character was written. She's just an actress following what the script and the director says. She did great as Bella but I wish the dialogue could've been better. It's pretty simple for her, she just need a great script and a great director to work with, she could act very well. Remember when she worked with David Fincher for Panic Room?? Fincher is a great director and he directed Kristen's performance very well and ended up having a good performance from a 12 year old Kristen Stewart
@♓️ CP some of her other movies were dull mostly due to the writing and the directing, not her fault at all. She's good in her other movies, she tried her best with the script she was given. Underwater had a cliche writing but Kristen's performance was pretty good. It's pretty simple for her, she just need a good script and a good director to work with, she'll be fine. And coming off from Venice Film Festival from the reviews of the movie (90% on Rotten Tomatoes so far) and the fact that she got herself a three minute standing ovation, there's no doubt that she can play this role perfectly and she's definitely an Oscar nomination frontrunner. Just read the reviews in the trailer, it's definitely gonna be a good movie. And she's better off doing independent movies anyways instead of doing big budget franchise movies that's kind a big pressure for her. Independent movies are usually better than most big budget movies anyways. She mostly choose indie movies nowadays because they have good scripts for the movie

@@farmerdeb2863 Naomi Watts also lent that "look".
