RIP and long live Spencer Tracy (April 5, 1900 - June 10, 1967), aged 67 And RIP and long live Sidney Poitier (February 20, 1927 - January 6, 2022), aged 94 You both will always be remembered as legends.
He may not have been perfect. We all are sinners. What he may have lacked off screen, he gave us pure magic on screen. Spencer Tracy was an actor's actor. By the characters he bought to life, in their humanity, imperfection, yet virtuous nature, he will endure as time goes on, as a great actor.
Like Sidney Poitier's comments. Too bad that 5 fine actors Poitier, Hepburn, Sanford, Beah Richards & Tracy were saddled with that sorry GWCTD script & direction...there was a story situation that demanded something better.
Not true merrickmart. Hepburn asked PBS producers Heeley and Kramer to make a profile of Tracy. She was the driving force, but PBS raised the money for the production.
decem10ber - People can control their actions. Even if we can't choose who we love we can choose how we deal with it. Instead of going around cheating for decades he could of finished with his wife and been with Hepburn or been with his wife and finished with Hepburn. Digusting man. I'm assuming you're a mistress.
The Tracy's marriage was over a long time before he met Hepburn. He had relationships with a few actresses during that time too. Louise Tracy was content staying married to Spencer and have him live away from home. When there son John was born deaf there wasn't any schools to provide the services needed for deaf students. She committed her time and efforts to change that and opened a school for them. Hepburn and Tracy were never seen in public together and were as discrete as possible. Spencer's daughter Susie and Katharine became close friends after his death which shows she didn't hold any ill feelings for her.
just saw this clip for the first time...then read the comments...after all this time to reflect, I hope you have taken to a better understanding...Tracy and his wife were both devout Catholics so the idea of divorce, at least in those days, was not considered much of an option...Tracy also felt a great deal of guilt as one of his children had been born deaf, something he thought God had done to punish Tracy for his sins...as for his wife, she never knew while Tracy was alive; there was so much respect in Hollywood for the work she did on behalf of deaf children, no one had the heart to tell her....life is complicated.
Claire Walsh- And I am assuming you have been cheated on when you have so much hatred in yourself. Don’t judge Spencer, judge yourself, if you are really that perfect as you present or if it is you who is disgusting here.
You are quite the uninformed pig. Tracy was Roman Catholic and so was his wife; neither would have been inclined to a divorce. He was religious enough to think God punished him for his sins by the fact one of his children was born deaf...so he drank and he drank.
