Part 3 takes us 1 on 1 with the system to test its performance with movies. The main reason one would buy this system. But how does it sound with some of the best movies?!
I have a complete (latest) 5.1 Acoustimas 10 Bose home theater setup with additional Bose cubes mounting on my ceiling for the height channels. The receiver plays a big part in how the Bose system can sound! Each of my channels are fine tuned by the receiver for the sound I was looking for and all I can say is….. You would not think the system was Bose if you walked in the room. The receiver you use to connect the Bose subwoofer plays a major part!
Honestly I love what I get from my Bose acoustimass 15 iii, its better than bulky 18 inches speakers in house, I sold them 18 inches subs and 12 inches monitors for this bose, sound is amazing. To get the kind bass that comes from this bose system, you need alot of big and powerful equipment and with complicated tuning up and the equipments are very very heavy, you need bigger space too to get best clean bass bomb but Bose is easy to easy to find sweet spot, you can hide them away just get excellent double bass boom and the cubes just gives up highs and mids, clean vocals, I'm using old Onkyo 906 Reciever and it's perfect marriage for home theatre, I got these each bed room of my house of 7 bedrooms. I have saved loads of space in these rooms, we love best bass in music and we loves, highs and mids too.
I agree with you about Bose. I have an old Technics receiver (SA-AX6) that I purchased in 1998 paired with Bose Acoustimass 10 speakers. They are both ancient but the clarity of the sound is the same as they were the day I first configured them. No noticeable change in quality over 22 years. My total investment was $1200. It may not be the best but I can tell you that I stopped searching for the perfect sound after buying this setup.
I’m enjoying watching this series you put together. I would also like to hear from a non audio person listening to the system as well (if possible) maybe in an interview that you can relay to us. I haven’t heard the cube speakers since I was a kid. I remember being wowed back in the day with young ears lol. Great job ☺️
i never owned a bose product but this acoustimass series specifically the 2.1 looks like a very good pc desktop system although i never use it in a larger space thanks for your efforts geeza
The movies dont have any detail, it sounds so passive and dull like your listening to a mono movie. But thats to be expecated from a system that has no HF (High frequency/ tweeter). Also the lower frequincies come from the subwoofer, bu the speakers are so shitty that even a lot of the vocals need to come through the sub...
Question, marantz sr6013 witht klipsch rf 7 and rc-64 iii, no sub. I have the tv and avr connected through ARC. When i switch the input to play my tv through the theater system, it plays but it noticeably different sounds as if there is a filter stopping the bass and fullness. Is this normal? Basically i thought regular tv would sound the same as all other inputs in the marantz
Same here. Using earc with on LG c9 with Denon 4500h. Sounds like there is some kind of extra compression even with pass through enabled. Pc/Xbox connected to AVR HDMI sounds much better on same content(netflix or so).
I had the bose acoustimass 5 series 3( 2.1 )system... Taught that was horrible, until I herd the acoustimass 15 series 5 .....or smtn.. . Older the sortoff better than new ones. Bass was non existent..😂😂
