Notice that the part that got even Mel B. to tear up for a moment was when she said, "I was just being a brat." Geri was owning her mistake in that moment, not trying to make any more excuses. Excuses she had been publicizing for years were her mental health state, being burnt out, afraid she was losing independence, being mad at someone, feeling like she was irrelevant, or feeling some other kinda way. (All of them were burnt out and tired at that point before she left.) Geri spent a great deal of time and years rationalizing her decision publicly, even if she did apologize in private to the girls and said she regretted the decision.
It's so heartwarming to see how their friendship is still so strong after all these years. Makes me sad and wish I had friends like that (or in general).
damn, I'm crying once she said to them "I'm sorry". it was the most powerful words for being hard to spoke out when it was felt like she left us, yesterday. Now everyone, the bands and groups are reforming back, so I have to say, 2019 is another magical year, it says to me, myself, that I shall get back up again and redefine, me, so I can light on my life and others (Hugs)
Hearing Geri say she's sorry melts my heart ugh I was so gutted when my favourite Spice Girl lleft, my childhood heart was broken but I'm so happy she's back...it was never ever the same without her
I am so mad at their manager/producer or whoever dealt with them. Having no time to rest and recharge is criminal. It’s impressive it took 2 and a half year for Geri to implode. If they have given them like a month of vacation every year and some weeks around Xmas the group would have stuck together. You can’t overwork people just because they bring you a lot of money.
Couldn’t agree more!!!! If they have rested they definitely would’ve lasted longer as a group and have more than 9 no.1s as a 5 piece! Those girls are magical
I was sad as a little girl when she left but as an adult, I get it. That amount of fame that quickly. Anyone would need a break. I'm just glad she's back!
The way she left was the real hard part. Obviously she was young and living in an alternate reality which no one can be prepared for, if only they were able to take time to talk about what they were going through on a personal level and perhaps had a bit of a break, maybe things would have been different. It’s sad that her sudden leaving lead to things unravelling. All I know is 96 to 98, man Geri and the girls made those years fun so I can’t stay bitter at her.
@Coffee Addict ohh no u didn't... U seem to forget why she left and the fact that she was hospitalized for her eating disorder . Also it was a 5 year plan that they'd quit after 5 years. Was cut short for health reasons and a relationship ending ur forgetting who she was dating within the group FOR 4 YEARS! Id fuckn walk out too after a heartbreak and a eating disorder that was killing me i couldn't stand there and sing with them. The pressure of 2 and a half years of non stop work and hate would make me want to scream and run too. BIGGER PICTURE
Leaving the Group will always haunt Geri, you can tell it is her biggest regret. She was young and she was being a brat. Who knows how far the girls could have gone if she stayed.
We all make mistakes and wrong decisions which may affect some people around us. But what's important is we are capable of saying sorry no matter how long it already occurred. Kudos for your Humility Geri! I love you even more now! Hope we get to hear the next sorry from Victoria. :)
Victoria doesnt need to apologize because she didnt leave the girls in a lurch in the midst of a worldtour at the peak of of their fame. She upfront expressed her intention not to join this one-off reunion. She wasnt bound to do so. This is called moved on. Nonetheless, she would be forever the posh spice to all the fans. No denying about this.
It wasn't scripted or planned either btw. Makes me cry seeing that because you can see how much she regreted having to leave. It was never a power struggle it was a health struggle . Like mel c said on a radio interview, they were ALL exhausted u gotta remember.. that all happened in 2 and a half years the amount of interiews shows etc etc at there age in 2 and a half years was way too much too soon they never got to slow down abit they were always on the go
yeah it takes alot of courage to apologize esp publicly . its different from lets say steps where from the documentary alone you can see that theres really tension between the tandem of h and claire vs faye, liza. theres also jealousy on the members why claire was the lead vocal on "one for sorrow" song. and claire has no regrets leaving up to this day and she cant even say sorry the way she left. cant blame her though feeling outcast and bullied
It's absolutely bonkers that her being a brat and leaving was one if the most poignant moments in my young 8 year old life. It really was a massive turning point. I got into heavy metal and left pop behind after the Spice girls broke up.
To anyone trying to act like Victoria has done the same thing Geri did, NEWSFLASH Geri left the band IN THE MIDDLE of their biggest tour while Victoria only politely declined to participate in another reunion so stop saying that Victoria owes everyone an apology too because she DOESN'T.
She apologyzed for leaving a lot of times, even during the 2007 tour and this thing is getting ridiculous now. She's always in a desperate need of attention. It's not that the world stopped turning around when she left

Are you dim?!? She may have apologized plenty of time since 1999 but.... She felt the need to say this BECAUSE, they were about to play Wembley and Geri quit right before. Therefore.... she missed the chance to perform at Wembley Stadium as the Spice Girls their first time, so this is more sentimental for her and the girl's.
