@@darkshat3077 Maybe more stylish, but the physics are actually much more realistic in this one. Notice that in PS4, before the web connects, spidey floats forward ever so slightly, which means that the momentum isn't real. It looks cool, but it lacks the realistic physics of this one, which give swinging a much higher learning curve and "unpredictability", but also make it much more wortwhile to master (if you know how to use curves and release at different times, you can do some pretty cool tricks). I'd add the TASM point to point webbing and that'd be THE ultimate webbing experience

I can't believe that this game came out 17 years ago, man I feel old. I remember getting this game, and a PS2 for Christmas back in the day. And I still own the original disc, from my childhood.
Getting good at the movement in this game is some of the most fun I have had with a game. The new one makes it all automatic and impossible to mess up and takes away all of the reward for getting good at slingshots and wall runs.
This game is pure skill while the newer game is more slick but feels very "auto swing" for lack of a better word. Plus there's no fall damage which is so weird
Going to get hate for this, but aside from the web swinging, the combat in this game is better than the one in Spider-Man PS4, Spidey has a better variety of stylish combat moves, counter moves and can do a lot more with his webs.
That I disagree with. The swinging is better here, but Spider-Man ps4 has much better combat. This game’s combat is kind of stupid and clunky and doesn’t really open up until close to end of the game when you finally acquire enough Hero Points for moves
@@blackironwalterkus3851 The new PS4 game is way better. I just don’t enjoy the web slinging as much. Feels kinda automated in my opinion. I think the animations and graphics of the game are way better. It just needs to be more physics based and give the player more control.
so much better than any other attempt at the gameplay mechanic of swinging (although ultimate spider man was very solid). people seemed to like the ps4 spiderman but to me it felt so slow and i hated how you could only jump like 3 feet high

Marvel's spiderman web swinging is based on release timing, u have to release your web at a certain time to get good speed, u don't really realize how fast your going until u look at the buildings beside u, I love spiderman 2 web swinging but I feel it was a little to physics based, I like to feel like spiderman when I play
I hated that cry from the kid when his/her balloon went into the air and even if I had nearly thrown my TV out the window from frustration trying to get it, they wouldn't even say thank you half the time.
Hopefully Spider-man 2 PS5 switches up the swinging. Swinging around in Miles Morales is fun and makes Spider-man PS4 swinging feel very dated, but i wish it was all more physics based instead of feel like it’s on rails.

I initially played it at a friend’s house and I didn’t like it because the swinging was super slow (of course I now understand it was slow at first [for me] because you have to figure out how to get momentum and such). It is now and has now become one of my favorite games. It is my favorite combat system to date. The swinging is almost great it just leaves a lot to be desired. Too floaty and everything feels automated. Spidey has too much directional control in a swing. Overall it’s too smooth to feel as good as the old game. No ruggedness, no tug on the line, no realistic momentum acquisition. Plus the most obvious, his animation moving forward, starts before the line is even cast. The swinging should be more like a navigational challenge with some style and not waiting and dancing and flying through the air gracefully. For me personally. All that to just nitpick, really. The game is absolutely incredible, I just had a bad first go. Insomniac is a very talented development team and I cannot wait for the sequel.
It's crazy how SP2 for the PS5 doesn't have any physics whatsoever compared to this. It looks nice for about 10 minutes, but immediately looses it's novelty once you realize there's barely any interaction going on between your character and the world you're in.

@@Bruzewane I don't think you know what a 'bad-faith argument' means, rather than me detouring the main subject to explain it I'd recommend you go look it up for yourself. Spamming L2 isn't the only way you can gain momentum in PS2 Spiderman, you have to actually pay attention to your timing and speed in order to perform well. It's extremely complicated to explain in a brief comment, but watch some non-glitch speedruns of it and you'll see exactly what I mean. You also have to mind where you shoot your webs since they actually have collision with buildings and objects unlike Insomniac Spiderman. Insomniac Spiderman on the other hand is much more predetermined animation based and less physics based. You don't have to worry about flying into a building or transitioning between web-shots at the wrong time because the game basically takes care of it for you, and sure you can argue that's a much better approach. But what's the fun in everything being automated or artificial instead of something performed by your own genuine input? I'd argue this approach is way more mindless button-mashing based than OG PS2 spiderman since it doesn't take as much precise effort to accomplish something. Also yes I'm aware of turning stuff like web assist off, and no it still does not match up to par with the skill ceiling of PS2 spiderman. If you enjoy Insomniac's iterations, there's nothing wrong with that, but everything I said so far is factual.

@@Bruzewane still too easy imo, also fall damage barely ever kills you I think I died once and that was just from testing it, gliding is cool but you can go full speed into a vehicle with no repucusions and same for a building, it's too easy for the casual audience these days
@@sean7332 fall damage barely kills you? its more dangerous than in SM2 PS2, if its barely killing you than it'll barely kill you in the PS2 game swing assist 0 is also arguably even harder than swinging in SM2 PS2, you have to be masterful at learning when to swing or you'll get punished by hitting the ground non stop
