They actually explained it WAAAAY back in issue 10 of the original series back in the 1960s. And JJ admits it to himself. It's because JJJ has lived his life tryig to get as much money as possible, while Spider-Man risks his life daily to help people for no thought of compensation, and he can't respect HIMSELF anymore for as long as Spider-Man does so.
Didn't they retcon that? I thought the new reason was because JJJ thought Spiderman was a coward because he hid behind a mask, just like the man who killed JJJ's wife.
There was another reason, and it was because JJJ thought that if he kept posting how much Spidey was awful, Spidey would continue helping people just to prove him wrong

Spider-Man is kinda both. He's a fun loving superhero who cracks jokes all the time but life seems to go out of it's way to make him miserable in every way it can at the same time. I think it makes Spidey more heroic that he can face an endless stream of crap in his life and still do what he does. But yes, the writers do take it way too far sometimes.
The problem with a character like Peter is that his life is a tragedy. With every evolution, he is supposed to go through highs and lows. The problem is that instead of committing to the evolution of the character and trying to see him deal with the responsibility of a father and the responsibility of a hero instead Peter is forced to become a manchild again.
@@immortalfrieza: You can have Spidey confronting understandable barriers and still come out as a hero without having turning his entire life into one crapsack world for the sake of "drama makes him more interesting." Hell I'd actually like a few stories where his life doesn't have to suck and he gets to have a pretty decent day and it would still be interesting for me. These writers (same for Batman) seem to think that it's only when a character is at breaking point that they're interesting and it's annoying.
@@squallofthedai The problem is far too many writers think that the only way for character to be interesting is if they're constantly teetering on the edge of despair or madness. A big part of what made Spider-Man identifiable is how crappy his life was, but writers have turned that into "his life must always be crappy, all the time, and it must never stop getting worse."
They make Spidey's fingers/hands noticeably longer than average in this comic. (Look at 2:30 and 1:36) At first I thought it was a mistake, but the consistency made me realize it's actually a clever detail, because the guy spends so much time clinging to walls by his fingers. Professional pianists develop similar hands, albeit not usually to the same degree.
Jameson is a civil rights supporter, his best friend is an actual black man and is constantly against oppresion of minorities, to the point that he has been seen numerous times calling people biggots and even went as far as to tell to an anti-mutant ass that he would not be silenced and that he will keep being a reporter and see him and everyone else behind bars for what they did. Which is why he knew that trying to defend himsel like that would only make him look actually racist
Seeing the court laugh feels weird now after they actually made a story where the whole world lost their collective shit because the masked superhero they idolized is actually a black dude (Blue Marvel).
This comic needs to be put in a cartoon one day but change the ending so Peter beats JJ in court instead of letting him off easy and JJ has to either back off Spider-Man or just not print anything about him at all
I’m not sure if this is the same comic but didn’t he let him off after his lawyer added Peter Parker as part of the suit. As he was the photographer that was responsible for the deflationary images?
@@Kishanth.J yeah, Spider-Man sued for a lot of money against Jameson, but when the judge and whatnot decided to add Peter Parker into the lawsuit, Peter saw how screwed he was and instead made an agreement to let bygons be bygons and it involved him as Peter and Jameson dressed as chickens

Specifically about the thumbnail part no that wouldn't actually be enough since there's tons of ways to fake or replicate his abilities. But even if he did turn up without a mask no one knows who he is so they still wouldn't know if if he was actually Spider-Man.
Reminds me of the time Peter got unmasked by Doc Ock because his powers were on the fritz. Which ironically is what saved him, since he wasn’t fighting like Spider-Man, he was fighting like some dude dressed as Spider-Man. The main reason why JJ Jameson hates Spider-Man is because people love him more than his Astronaut son. John Jameson. In a comic John was a guest on a late TV show. But they kicked him to the side and had Spidey as their guest instead. If you watch The Spectacular Spider-Man show. He is so convinced that his son is better than Spidey. He calls Peter's pictures of himself and the Goblin fighting worthless. Saying they are celebrating a "real hero" as their headline. His son. JJ Jameson tells Peter Parker to sell his pictures to the Globe. Saying they'll sell anything. With confidence that the Bugle will make more with the Space Shuttle then the Globe will with Spider-Man. JJJ gets pissed 😡 off the next day when Robbie tells him that the Globe's front headline of Spider-Man vs Green Goblin slaughtered the Bugle's headline of his son's survival of his Space Shuttle coming back to Earth 🌎 at the news stand. In one comic Peter tricks JJ into thinking John is Spider-Man. Then all of a sudden JJ calls Spidey "New York's greatest hero". So it just comes down to JJ Jameson to being a stupid, overprotective and immature father who cant accept the fact that Spider-Man is triple the "hero" John Jameson is. Let's face it. Spider-Man has got one hot wife. Mary Jane. They do some get it on lot's of times. One time he webbed her up. Told her the webs will desolve in an hour. He's free to do whatever he wants with her til that happens. Heck in Spider-Man 2 Mary Jane left John Jameson at the altar to be with Spider-Man. I would love it if The Spectacular Spider-Man show came back and someone asks JJ Jameson on why be hates Spider-Man so much.

Wouldn’t Spider-Man have to legally say his name and take off his mask for the court? I mean most people who have helped taken down criminal organizations have to legally write their name onto a piece of paper and testify in court. This is why we have witness protection program. The courts cannot use anonymous testimonies because anyone can make up whatever they want. Also asking someone for their opinion would result in the prosecution objecting to their statements because it could be seen as “hear say”
That's where the federal database comes in. They have his identity on file through a submission by the Avengers, but refuse to disclose it so that he can be held liable for damages and, as shown, legally testify or appear in court while in costume. On a similar disney-related bend, a similar case occurred in Disneyland's history where a Winnie the Pooh suit actor was taken to court over allegedly knocking over a child with intent to harm. Due to Disney's contracts about Suit Actors, he had to attend court in character and in costume to demonstrate that his mobility in the suit would not be good enough to do what the mother of the child described, and the event was simply the child bouncing against the suit and falling over in the rush to meet Pooh.
I think them doing the demonstration was because they were suing Disney not trying to get the actor arrested specifically as there could be more than one person playing the character. The Avengers data base doesn’t excuse Spider-Man from having to reveal his identity as there have been numerous criminals in the mob or mafia that gave credible statements but were not allowed to be used in court if the witness did not sign their legal name and show up in court. None of them had the privilege of staying anonymous even though their lives were at stake. This is why we have witness protection program. Cops have to do the same thing, they as well they cannot be anonymous in court. There’s a lot of stuff that movies and TV shows put that would never happen in court. Like a surprise witness, you need to give all your evidence and say who your witnesses are to the court so they can approve or even disapprove before the trial starts. This is just another example of an embellishment of a other wise very boring and long process that isn’t supposed to play favorites.

@@salutauo2035 it was mostly because while they're not exactly agents of the goverment, they do have certain conections and have been known for helping them from time to time. Back in the day, the goverment actually did have some level of authority over the Avengers, to the point that they even put the hero Thriatlon in it for, and I'm not shitting you, diversity. Also around the 2000s, they also had some conections through even the U.N and even prior to that, seeing that the U.N once asked them to bring in Magneto to be trialed on his crimes. Plus, they do opperate on U.S soil and with the amount of bases they have had, from a Mansions, Compounds, hydrobases, buildings, a Hellicarrier or two, it kind of makes sense why the Goverment would at least want some level of easiness to know that the ones using it are actual superheroes and not some nutjob cosplayer that could cause a world-ending catastrophy because he/she pushed the wrong button. Now a days they have more freedom, to the point that they had Avengers Mountain, which was on the North Pole and had the Avengers themselves tel the goverment to buzz off and to not intervene with their internal affairs
Jonah has tried cancelling Peter since the very beginning of his career and has made Peters life a living hell due to how much of the public he turns against Peter, that is definitely a fair move. And that's not even getting into the times Jameson has tried to have him killed or the two supervillains that Jameson created out of his own pocket.
Jonah honestly deserves to get offed rather than canceled after all the crap he's pulled. Spider Slayer, Scorpion, Using tax payer money during his time as mayor to create a task force meant to take out Spider-Man
His fingers are like that in a bunch of other comics and considering the fact that he’s hanging off walls and/or ceilings with his fingers. This happens in real life to but much tamer to pro piano players
