I’ve been wondering the exact same thing it’s crazy and all the Spider-Man comics he even saved him from super villains and he has the audacity to say that he planned the whole thing up 💀
jonah is a little too crazy sometimes imo. I prefer hs versions where he is a bit more relatable in that hes mostly just a guy who is beyond fed up with all the costumed crazies, and blames the first one that showed up. Not just hyper focused on Spidey to the point where hes being a nuisance during a rescue. Spidey holding a building is cool tho, we dont often get to see him testing the limits of his strength since hes always holdng back
My favorite jjj moment is the panel when robbie asks why he hired Peter and it shows on his computer articles about uncle Ben's death and he says the kid just needs some help
This comic encapsulates JJJ’s jealousy towards Spider-Man perfectly, he was literally willing to let his own building be destroyed and his own employees die just to prove a point.
Goblin mocking Spider-Man. J.J doing his usual thing.. And half of New York Screaming Hate at Spider-Man... AND HE STILL SAVES THE DAY!!!! Spider-Man is truly one of if not THE Best Super Hero in Comics.
This feat was actually calced to 300,000 to. 500,000 tons he was lifting (it was the whole building btw since he was holding the only side up since every other one broke and it was tipping/falling onto the pillar he was lifting as you see in the other panels
No thats a huge reach/assumption. He only replaced a pillar or two or three at most. He didnt lift a whole building and make it weightless off the ground. And it contradicts. Spiderman isnt that strong.
@@bradwoods371I think you meant either *way he's an absolute unit, and yes I agree with you. Even Spiderman corrects the onlookers that he wasn't lifting a building, he was replacing one of three pillars on one side while the other two pillars on that side were crumbling, which still takes unbelievable strength. Also, a lot of people forget that Peter is an absolute monster when he realizes he's fighting an opponent he doesn't have a chance of killing and truly goes all out. The infamous Spider Assault. Using all his strength, speed, agility and spider sense cranked to 11 without stopping the beating and dodging even for a millisecond. The Beyonder was not joking in the least when he said in close quarters, he was practically unstoppable, and when Daredevil said that Spider-man's body was a dynamo. It wasnt just a one off thing when he took decided to use the Spider Assault on a Firelord without his main staff weapon, he actually used it on Thor (Eric Masterson version), and even Eric Thor admitted that while he, Thor, was overall much stronger then Spiderman, the ever increasing high velocity, 100 tier strength punches hitting every vulnerable spot, while unable to catch him by Spiderman just narrowly avoiding any counterattacks with spider sense, Eric Thor felt the pounding literally bring him to his knees, and managed one large lightning strike to knock Spiderman back and propose a truce.
@@9751matt I have to disagree that it takes unbelievable strength. It merely requires amazing strength. But nobody said he wasn't The Amazing Spiderman. Granted he isn't as Incredible as the Hulk...
This is why Spider-Man’s full potential is still unknown, why he is always capable of new feats. It’s not because of his powers, but because of his heart. Spider-Man always stands back up and takes that next step forward. His feats are new and grow because he has the willpower to never give up for those who need help and the ones he loves. Without Spider-Man, New York would have been a whole other place. He helps keep the city’s spirit bright and strong.
Honestly I think this would be the perfect ending for spider-man, everything’s going back to normal and he is finally able to let go of the pressure that being spidey puts on him and just live for once in his life
Beat Spider-Man comic ever!!! I hate how writers make him suffer and never let him catch a break… but at the end of it all Spider-Man really inspired people for hope and heroism. He inspired me, he really does. ❤️🖤
The building that Spider-Man is holding is the pain the losing someone who he loves all the sacrifices he had to make but he still moves on and never give up that's why we all love Spider-Man I wish we get more stories like this
This is why Spider-Man deserves all the true love and respect better than any superhero on the planet Earth of Marvel Comics existence Peter Parker and all the Spider-Man and Spider women go through the true pain of Agony harder and painful more than anybody else in creation does
... Should we tell him that Spider-Man is compared to the threats he normally faces? He holds back like, 95% of his strength, if not more, just to avoid killing his rogues in a single punch.
@@G.slayer Those enemies are kind of the exception, and he usually has a massive edge on them in other ways too. Smarts, tech, knowing Symbiote weaknesses, etc etc. Spidey is all about the sheer *responsibility* his power places on him. So him choosing when and when not to use it (as well as how much to use) is a pretty massive motif.
he lifts a building, and freaking building, by himself, i wonder if there is a comic where peter is like "ok, im useless so you know what ? im gonna stop, for one week there will be no spider man for saving people, see you all next week" and sure it's an apsolute mess no even after one day he will have to come back to save people, but he wont, just for show them
@@CAMSLAYER13yeah but the thing is the other heroes aren't New York all the time and have their own adventures. But still it does the power and strength of spider man in handling all these different threats on his own. My favorite version is spectacular spider man because of the absolute insane number of villains he has to face constantly every week and still manages to show strength and abilities to the best.
I would love if you did a video on Revenge of the Green Goblin by Roger Stern; I got reminded of it recently thanks to...current Spidey events.... and it's honestly SEVERELY underdiscussed. Honestly one of the best Goblin and Spidey stories.
Do You What The Thumbnail Reminds of? The Clip From Spider-Man Homecoming Where Peter Gets Crushed By a Building & He Struggles To Get Back Up But Then He Sees His Reflection of Spider-Man in Water And Quickly Used His Super Strength To Free Himself Out Of The Rubble, That Was Amazing
Yeah it's supposed to be remnieciant of when Peter lifted a heavy generator off of him in the early Stanlee ditto run. Otto layer was filling with water. He was about to die. He lifted after focusing on what's important and he lifted.
Crazy how Tom struggled to pick up a piece of a building while Tobey lifted up a section of a metal warehouse that was being pulled by an artificial sun lol
@@mrmelonman2893 Uh no he wasn’t lol it took him like a second and then he not lifted it up threw it off of himself and keep in mind that was in the same movie *he was losing his powers in*
The sentence "With greater power, comes greater responsibility" is being showed to be spider-man's power in this video in the beggining part 4:04 and the outcome part 4:31. That filled my heart! 😢❤
It’s show how spider man is so special and greatest hero no matter what his villains try to Destroyed him and use many Weapons technology he will always find out to stop them
I have all my usual admiration for your content as I’ve spouted through many videos but I just wanted to add… I love how at the moment of 4:22 it’s incredible how in this moment just how soft, bent and spongy Spider-man’s arms appear in this moment of weakness and self doubt. Comic art is art.
Some spidey stories just can't be told unless they are drawn by JR Jr. Him and bagley were my favourites growing up along with Jenson in his sensational run as it got over the bullshit of the clone saga and got back to his roots even though it was Ben Reilly. I liked it even though most didn't. This is a great story as always you got mad taste bro catch you on the flipside
Spider-Man literally did nothing wrong. He was always a hero first, and always protected people first. Enemies like the green goblin may have risen in response to Spider-Man, he never lets those villains define who he is and why he fights. That’s why the argument of “do we even need superheroes?” Is especially stupid when it comes to Spider-Man. I do find it weird that they just completely abandon peter’s responsibility as spider man, because crime still exists, just not in the form of green goblin. It should be his duty to still be Spider-Man and protect the city.
These comic panels of Spider-Man lifting up the Daily Bugle is absolutely incredible. It really does show how much strength he has in him. Also, I'm absolutely appalled with Jameson in this story. It's absolutely absurd that he wants Spidey to be arrested after he just saved his building.
It's a good story, but it's hard to ignore that it's basically a rehash of the more iconic Amazing Spider-man 33, right down to Aunt May hanging by a thread in a hospital. I'm on the fence on whether it's a nice way to re-tell a classic Spidey story for a newer audience or outright plagiarism.
This comic could be a perfect finale for Spider Man and Peter to have a happy and retire as superhero and have family with Mary Jane and daughter Mayday Parker and Spider Man legacy will live on forever.
I’m not gonna lie. I don’t like the stories when they make Jonah such a bad person. The best stories including him, is when he either defends Spider-Man or Peter when a villain appears. Also, when there’s a reason why. For example, the reason why he doesn’t like Spider-Man and one story is because something happened to a family member with somebody with a mask. So that’s his vendetta. But when he’s just a bad bloke for no reason. It comes off as mustache twirling. I don’t know. The guy is just a douche bag most of the time. I hope they give him a better arc in the games as well.
I am praying against the recent comics MJ dies in a comic and never gets resurrected and Peter gets a girlfriend like TASM Gwen. Peter never gets a frickin break and when he literally abandons his morals for her, MJ leaves him for the guy that’s related to the one who separated them!
It's not MJ that is the problem, it's current post-OMD Marvel. Post-OMD certain writers have to have Peter single so they come up with the most dumb and out of character reasons to make him single again. If it were TASM Gwen she would leave him as well. You forget Marvel had Gwen sleep with Norman Osborn and have his children and that was canon for 16 years. The current philosophy at Marvel is to have Peter suffer, so any woman he is with his going to be written poorly to make Peter suffer. For decades MJ has been Peter's best and ride or die love interest, unfortunately one writer had to sabotage her. Well, we know the reasons for it will likely be retconned. There is already on the wiki page that the prayer Rabin made to the gods caused a magical curse over MJ which made her side with Paul and the kids over Peter. So it's already being explained by magic.
By the way, Peter and TASM Gwen were basically copied from Peter and MJ in the comics. Peter and Gwen never had that type of relationship. Gwen actually hated Spider-Man until the day she died. It was a toxic relationship. So you should be saying, I hope Peter gets a girlfriend like MJ from the comics before writers started to screw over their relationship. Because TASM Gwen is literally MJ from the comics.
I owned this comic and its amazing your retelling of it just brought back the same memories that I thought at the time this was one of the best short stories written in that universe. Basically no "action" happened and yet I was hooked cover to cover. Class
When I first looked at the video I’m like, oh a building is big but not that big compared to spidey strength, but the daily is more then a building it’s a tower it’s way more impressive
Damn, I've never seen JJ spew this much unwarranted hatred towards Spider-Man until this comic. Dude needs to snap out of it and realize that Spider-Man's just a dude trying to help. lol
Could you cover Revenge of the green goblin where Norman drugs Peter and dulls his powers before he kidnaps him to try and torture brainwash him into becoming theheir to the goblin thing
