As a fellow hate-watcher, I’m sorry u had to go through this man 🙏 But it did produce a great video!

I love how at the end of the movie, Gavin, a self-proclaimed Spider-Man fanatic who knows more than anyone else, completely misunderstands Peter’s entire relationship with the mask. Peter wants to be Spider-Man, and he loves it. This love isn’t constant as things happen that make him grow a little disdain for it, but he truly grows to love it. He chooses to be Spider-Man, he chooses to be a hero. He took his responsibility and truly made it his own. Peter forcing himself to be something he hates isn’t at all what Ben meant for him. It's incorrect

Imagine if a real Spider-Man movie was just 2 hours of Peter grieving Uncle Ben, and absolutely nothing else.

They spent like the entire budget on the shocker costume so that they could hide that it was a black guy 😅

Way too many people are trying to act like the director’s shitty politics can be divorced from his movie. But, since his politics are based on apathy, selfishness and an overall lack of empathy; it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his version of Peter Parker is written the same way. Like, even if it was technically competent (and it sure as shit ain’t, lmao), how is this movie not absolutely doomed from the start?

I hated the fact that so many people came to the movie's defense saying that the critics' opinions were skewed by the controversies and low budget. No, it's just a bad movie I don't care how many excuses they can make up.

When a low budget 90's fan film called Green Goblin's Last Stand is more entertaining than Spider-Man Lotus which costed $100,000 to make.

I think it's safe to say this version of Peter wouldn't like Miles Morales....

Apparently Gavin is one of those extremely toxic Raimi fanboys who made the movie just to try and prove he can make a better movie than the MCU Spider-Man

They were so busy wasting their money on the Spider-Man swinging scenes that they forgot to make the movie entertaining. Nothing happened at all in that movie except Gwen dies and the rest of the cast just flounders about and everything happens offscreen.

The whole “recording messages for Gewn’s corpse” bit was supposed to be an adaptation of Spider-Man: Blue, which is a story about how even though Peter’s moved on to MJ, he’s still misses Gwen. I get what Gavin was going for, but he messed this up because: 1) The comic takes place years after Gwen dies, and Lotus really doesn’t establish a passage of time or really set up Peter and MJ as a thing 2) who still uses a tape recorder in current year?

The things that broke me is that if you talk shit about lotus in italy, people start to become cinema expert and start saying that this is the best spiderman movie

For a good Spiderman fan film that adapts the same story ark I would recommend "The Green Goblin's Last Stand". It's in VHS quality but the stunt work and acting are phenomenal.

I honestly thought Peter was way too mopey in the beginning lmao. Peter usually cracks a joke in between everything no matter what and this dudes just like "it all seems different now :(" even though Spiderman usually would say something like that and follow it up with "well as different as it could be when you've got super powers now" or something along those lines

i guess i live under a rock because i had never heard about this movie or the weirdos who made it until youtube's algorithm handed it over. (i guess my 'free with ads' nightly movie watches and the recent rabbit hole of videos on the older spiderman cartoons made it think it would be perfect for me.) i was pretty excited at first because hey! sometimes fan made stuff can be good because they actually care about the thing! i got through the first fight scene before thinking to check the comments and then crawled out of there war torn after the cemetery scene jfc. i had to see what the reception was among other people and thankfully found your video!!! dude your editing is so good! and your commentary was highly entertaining, had me busting up through the whole video, on top of being a good review too. love a hate watch, but also love when people actually point out WHY it is bad. from the shots to the dialogue to the characters to the plot. so thanks for making this video!! and thanks for letting me and my big head hang out in your corner of the internet, i hope to stick around! :^)

I got into it with a neutral mindset, no prejudice and bias. I reminded myself that it is a movie made by fans ultimately. Tbh I was excited, i even bought some snacks. I watched for about 10-15 minutes and wondered why tf it was so bad. I tried to look past all the low quality but it wasn't heartfelt or made out of love from the looks of the final product. I genuinely wondered where all the money went. A friend called Spider-Man looks like it was shot on a smart phone but is a 100 times better than this mess.

Okay that Peter yelling at Mary Jane at Gwen's grave, kind of happened in the comics. I mean Peter was in his apartment and Mary Jane was there because Harry was there strung out on drugs, she tells him that he heard about when and that she's so sorry and he goes off on her. He did mention something about the life of the party and go party cause you don't give a fuck about the rest of. I said Peter said that like 2 hours after Gwen and Norman died. I mean to defend this movie but there is a precedent for it but also it was done better in the seventies, because this moment is when Mary Jane stops being a party animal and shows that she does genuinely care for Peter and comforts him, where the fuck is that in this movie? Moment from the comics had character development and growth for Mary Jane and Peter as well cuz he could be an asshole in the 70s and 60s. It feels like this moment just happens to happen and has none of the impact of the comic. Actually a lot of this movie feels like it happened just to happen.

yeah, this movie isn't like the so bad its entertaining...putting aside their terrible political and bigoted views the movie felt so flat and boring, they tried to reach too far and made a film based on spite rather than just making a cool little fan film..This film needed to lose an hour, color grading is worst than some seagal or even a neil breen movie..and this is 200,000 dollars. Only thing good I can say is some decent fight choreography and pretty good special effects....Now compare this to Gareth Edwards MONSTERS, which was made with $500,000 and a lesser crew...and that one film feels way more cinematic, paced better with excellent visual effects.
