You keep talking about no way Home’s plot being flimsy that’s your opinion but majority people do not share that it makes so much sense the Dr. Strange’s spell that he already has done again go back and watch the movie again the plot is what made the set up pay off even more I think what you’re doing is you’re going in there with your expectation of what the plot should be in that’s not what it is and you are upset about that trust me the plot was that bad like you say was it wouldn’t be so greatly reviewed by critics and audience and go back and watch avengers endgame is plot It took a rat stepping on a button for Scott Lane to come out the quantum realm but we don’t remember that because of the second half was so great in avengers endgame to much plot in no way Home was much more compelling in the one in game

@@remerbulldog5144 If you don't have a problem with the setup, that's fine. There's no need to come up with theories about why I don't like the setup. It's OK that we enjoyed different things about the movie. But coming up with theories and telling me to watch the movie is getting is simply being dismissive. I"m not confused by what happened. I didn't miss anything. I didn't go in expecting a different plot (I've been concerned about the setup since the first trailer dropped). If you want discuss the merits of the plot being based on two people not talking for 10 seconds before casting a spell, cool. But that's not the same thing as what you're doing.

Spider-Man was able to move after the spirit punch was because the spider sense. It is something that is physical, involuntary. So although his mind it out of his body, the body still retains its abilities. So Peter’s body can sense danger in Dr Strange trying to get the box and reacts accordingly

One of my favorite scenes was the "You are amazing" line from Tobey to Andrew. It wasn't just a part of the dialogue in the movie for comedic relief. It was definitely touching to see Tobey, the man who started it all and who we all look up to, say that line to Andrew who got so much hate and trash from critics and "fans" that he was left heartbroken. Knowing how Andrew and Tom both looked up to Tobey, it must have meant a lot for Andrew to hear that kind of message from his hero.

The thing that got me the most was the collective “WOOHOO” as they leapt into the final battle together. It felt so nostalgic because Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Men always had at least one of those per movie. So many magical moments in that last 45 minutes in general though. Epic entrances, an entire scene for new meme material, references, reprisals of film scores 10-20 years old, and so many other things. Another great moment was when Andrew saved MJ. The whole theatre lost their minds. Also, Andrew kicking The Lizard in the face looked way cooler than I thought It would.

The audience instantly knew who was coming. -Tobey appeared and the room erupted with tears and cheers! -Purely incredible and one of the best scenes I've ever seen. The action and the heart -The brutality in this movie was on another level (Especially with the two battles between Tom and Dafoe) -I cried during the death of Aunt May and the Finale and nearly cried when Tobey showed up Final Verdict -17.5/10 -A once in a lifetime experience at the movies -We all felt united despite a bad world outside. To me, this movie was about independence. This Spiderman has gotten crap by critics for being too supported by Iron Man or Dr. Strange. He never feels like the Spiderman who battles through his problems alone, like the other two Spiderman series. This is touched on in the movie, when both Tobey and Andrew say they never worked in a team before. By the end of it, This peter kinda gets a reorigin. Hes alone, he has his apartment, and he makes his own suit. Marvel figured out how to both incorporate his involvement in the MCU and give him his stand aloneness were used too with Spiderman.
@rileyribble6733
@rileyribble6733 2 года назад
@Isaac Bisbee you also have to consider the big age difference between where Tom’s Spidey started compared to the other two. Naturally the other two were more independent, because they were either graduating high school or in college. Tom Holland started as a freshman. So naturally he’s gonna be unexpected, youthful, reckless, and not as independent. That’s why imo, Homecoming and FFH work very well, and will both age like fine wine because of NWH. They were part of his long term character development. Instead of rushing the origin story in 25-40 minutes and having him grown up right away, they had this growth take place over numerous movies over multiple years of his life. Think about it, how many of us experience true growth, change, become stronger in our lives overnight or in a shorter period of time? Not very many at all. Tom’s character growth feels much more genuine, real, sincere, believable, and earned. This whole trilogy was his origin story, and will now lead into his peak Spiderman/Peter Parker years. Point being, I think it is GENIUS how they handled his long term character arc

This is the first live-action film in a while that I felt has truly captured the feeling of the Spider-Man stories and character of Peter Parker from the comics. I might even dare to say that it rivals the Raimi films in that regard. Either way, it's the best live-action Spider-Man movie I've seen since Spider-Man 2 (I stress 'live-action' because I feel Into the Spider-Verse does a pretty solid job of these things and even improving upon a few issues I had with where Peter's stories in the comics have gone in modern history and then there are the Insomniac games, which obviously aren't movies, but would work well as them). While Tobey and Andrew's Peters being in this film definitely elevated it, I remember thinking to myself by the time all the Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin (a villain I think this movie absolutely nailed, which is coming from a nerd who's very particular when it comes to that arch-nemesis) stuff started going down and Aunt May dropped what's likely the most influential comic book/superhero quote of all time (and a comic-accurate one, at that), I was already sold and think the movie would have been able to stand on its own eight legs with just Tom Holland's Peter Parker. But I'm still really glad the others appeared and they were all able to help each other in such meaningful ways. Everyone got their redemption and together, the three of them were the perfect Spider-Man.

When those two came in through the portal, I almost jumped out my seat clapping. It was honestly surreal. It’s still hard to take in the fact that we got to see all of this in the MCU. The villains as well were incredible, especially Willem Dafoe as The Green Goblin. He absolutely killed every scene he was in. I also loved how they didn’t find some way to turn Doc Ock back into a villain but instead kept him as a good guy. The action in the movie too was just phenomenal. It was brutal, intense and pretty much everything it need to be. And finally, Tom Holland was spectacular here. In defense of Doctor Strange.. Yeah I agree it’s definitely not the greatest way of setting up the plot but I see it more as Doctor Strange being a little sympathetic towards Peter. When he proposes the spell and Wong tells him not to do it Strange doesn’t just brush Wong off, he tells him “hasn’t he (Peter) been thru enough” and they have that subtle moment of understanding regarding Peters situation. And Wong leaves while not being ok with the idea of the spell but not completely against it either. Wong just doesn’t want to be involved. They know Peter’s been thru a lot and Strange just wants to help him catch a little bit of a break Think of it as Strange’s “good deed” for the day if you will. He cares enough about Peter bc of all that they’ve been thru with saving the universe together that he’s willing to help him. It’s not that he doesn’t care to stop and think about the parameters it’s more that he wants to help Peter but just in more of a “I’ll help you but let’s just hurry up and get this over with” kinda way if that makes sense
@janosd4nuke
@janosd4nuke 2 года назад
That, and the polar opposite as well. I actually really liked that setup happening. Despite being very cautious about it early on with the trailers the same as Sean. It completely won me over. One part what you said about Stranger's sympathy for Peter. And on the other hand, his hubris. The subtle set-up of Wong being the Sorceror Supreme at the moment and Strange being resentful/ passive aggressive. So it was like a dick measuring contest, when he realized he can help Peter without messing with time, the same scientific ego took hold of him as Osborn and Octavius. He was more focused on whether he could than he should, solving Peter's situations like a puzzle and sticking it to Wong that he is still the big dick wizard around here. That itching to show off makes him hasty and perfectly in character. Same after the spell is went haywire but got contained. He just plays the responsible adult. But that's more a facade and shifting blame than actual responsible behavior. MJ even calls him out on it. And he even minds his manners to mellow MJ so the kids will sort what was his and Peter's mess to begin with. "Not my responsibility" Is even given to Peter as an attitude on one of his lows, which May raises him out of. Strange is essentially on that attitude the whole movie just faking the moral high ground. As flimsy as it could have been for me that is actually quite great how well they emphasized Strange's character fault which will be essential for Multiverse Of Madness. And all that from an alleged rewrite. As MoM supposed to be before Spider-Man and set up for this multiverse shenanigan. In the end they where forced to do the other way around and that scene is a good double set up on it's own. But knowing it was a last minute hotfix makes it all the more impressive.

This was truly a love letter to comic book fans and Spidey fans. The Aunt May scene was BRUTAL to watch, you really feel for Peter here. He now has gone through the "tragedy" each Spider-Man has to go through for character development. Tom Holland absolutely rocked in this movie, hands down his best work in the MCU so far. I feel as though all of the villains held a proper place in this story. Nothing felt out of place, rushed, or too mixed up. Willum Defoe crushed his role as Goblin once again. One of my favorite parts of this film was seeing Andrew Garfield relishing the role of Spider-Man again. He clearly loves the character and had a blast taking part in this. The Peter and MJ dynamic was beautiful here as well, I cried some grown man tears! I really love the direction they chose to go with Peter's character at the end of this "Home" trilogy. Feels as though it's a fresh start in a way! He's no longer Spider-Boy, Spider-Child, or Tony Stark's long lost son. No, Peter Parker is Spider-Man. What a movie, what a time to be a marvel fan, and what a theatrical experience. Can't wait to see this one again and again! There's so much more I could say but I think everyone feels the same. It was really hard sometimes to stay quiet while also feeding off each other's energy. Tom and Willem's acting is probably the best of the movie, Aunt May's death scene was great because of the tone, the music, Tom's acting, the way Happy kind of sacrifices himself for Peter, and then that incredible shot of Peter standing in front of the giant screen with Jameson on it. The little detail of Peter getting shot while all this is going on somehow seems to make it better because it's this sudden interruption in the grief that he and us are feeling.

And my god Dafoe. I really think he deserves an Oscar nomination for his role. I was actually scared of him sitting in the theater. That’s something no MCU villain has ever done for me. When Charlie Cox showed up it was like just a nice little start to the cheering. He got a standing ovation from a couple of guys, but other then that I think a lot of the theater hadn’t watched Daredevil. The “I’m a good lawyer line” had me dying. I can’t believe (Hawkeye Spoiler) that both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk are now canon in the MCU, and it happened in the same week! I’m absolutely seeing this movie again. The first thing I said when in it ended was “I need to watch it again.” Overall definitely my favorite movie in the MCU to date. 10/10 Edit: I’m loving this movie am even more after realizing that the title isn’t only about the plot of trying to get the villains home, but it’s foreshadowing that by the end of the movie Peter really has no home to go back to. Ending had me in tears, the scene in the coffee shop at the end just killed me inside.

Second half of the movie 10/10 First half 6/10 Aunt May was a shocker and grew my respect for marvel. Ending was great and it truly felt real. Beginning was cheesy and ridiculous but maybe that helped the contrast in maturity for Peter feel more real towards the end. Some scenes were incredibly directed like the Peter tingle with goblin being evil. That shit was awesome! It made you really feel how he felt. Anxious and intense it was awesome. Ned learning magic out of nowhere was random as hell but played off comedic so I guess they’re not taking themselves too serious. Cool overall but would like to see how truly good it is as film after this is out on streaming and the hype has died down.

Insanely loved this movie, thought the reasoning Peter went to strange to cast the spell was weak, should’ve been like in the civil war and other comics where Peter fears for the lives of his loved ones because of his revealed identity.

Right, but they kinda needed him to have a “stupid reason” so that Dr. Strange kicks him out and then we go to the bridge scene. Convenient moments like that are the only problem I have with the movie, but it would never work without those moments

What I loved about the Andrew/Tobey reveal was how completely out of fucking nowhere it was. We were all expecting them to make a big, dramatic entrance and swoop in at the last second to help out during the final battle, but instead they just casually walk through portals and start shooting the shit with each other. The three of them spend a ton of time just talking and getting to know each other before any fighting begins. Going into this film I thought I’d be going crazy and cheering my lungs out, but I just ended up sitting there in pure disbelief that this was a real thing I was actually watching, with a big stupid grin on my face the whole time.

My one word to describe this film was WOW! I was left speechless after the film was over due to how incredible it was. First of all, the movie delivered a great story that worked. I really enjoyed Peter’s struggles to being known as Spider-Man and I enjoyed the Doctor Strange stuff. The villains were phenomenal, especially Goblin and Doc Ock. Molina and Dafoe were at their best as these characters. Electro was the most improved villain from his original movie. Tom Holland illustrates why he is the best Spider-Man in this movie. His acting surprised me and I loved his performance. The best scenes he performed were Aunt May’s death and when he was about to kill Norman. The action is phenomenal throughout. Each scene was tense and exciting to watch. The climax is my favorite Spider-Man climax. When Andrew and then Tobey entered, it was pure joy and excitement. They were amazing. I loved Garfield in particular more here. The emotions were powerful, Aunt May’s death and Peter’s goodbye to MJ and Ned in particular. I will agree that the second half is better than the first half, but I still enjoyed the first half. I really liked how they ended with making Peter a definitive Spider-Man! The post credits scenes were great. I did enjoy seeing Venom. Is the symbiote piece left behind setting up for Flash Thompson? The Doctor Strange trailer was great as well and now I’m looking forward to that movie. Overall, I had a great theater experience last night and the movie is definitely a top 10 MCU movie. I need to see it again! It is absolutely worth seeing!

Just got out of the theater and it was great! The spell scene did its job for me. The fact that Dr Strange was under the impression that the spell was harmless was naïve, but fueled is arrogance and ignorance about casting the spell. For him, having people forget Peter was Spider-Man would only really affect the people closest to Peter, not the whole world. The scene does a good job of getting the ball rolling without having to wait around, allowing the movie to have a very nice pace. Great video!

This movie was amazing. I came into it expecting fan service packed in to a 2 hour film and while there was a lot of that it also delivered on so many other levels. My favorite part or I guess parts, was when Andrew saved MJ and got that closure that he needed and deserved. The other scene being when Tobey was able to stop Tom from killing Green Goblin and not even having to speak a word. the moment was just perfect and it was so beautiful to get to see Andrew and Tobey get their redemption from their past mistakes.

I think it would have been amazing if during the end credits it also showed all the villains going back to their time line and what happened to them after being cured and then showed Andrew and Toby going back to their time lines and swinging off into the distance and then that leads into the first post credit scene.

Jacob Batalon is so underrated, he has a larger part in this role than the four films he was in. In this movie, he had moments too. Let's just say he's in the same level as the Rat from Avengers Endgame. Plus when he was also on the verge of falling, Doctor Strange commanded his cape called Cloak of Levitation to rescue Ned Leeds, also he had his emotional moment with his friend Peter Parker doing one last handshake, I felt more sad about that knowing they have been friends for a long time

Yes, I wish 70% of the movie was about Peter trying to get into college and then the third act could have been Peter and Dr. Strange debating the ethics of erasing people’s memory for a college degree. Then, they could have an hour long conversation of how to safely cast the memory erasing spell so it would actually work, it would work, roll credits.

Does that regularly happen at your theater? I'm not sure the biggest event film in 2 and a half years which is smashing pandemic records can be used to describe what theaters have become in general. I don't want audiences to behave the way they did at No Way Home for every movie. But most movies don't have as impactful of moments as this film.
@vinikyks

@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout First thank you so much Sean for your reply that means a lot 😊🙏 I don't usually go at the same theater all the time because I move a lot between cities (in France), but I almost had always the same experience with the mcu movies since Infinity War. But obviously, I don't mind the cheering and laughing in theaters, thats a part of the experience and sometimes it's hard to contain yourself (I'll always remember when Thor entered Wakanda in IW 😅). But, what I can't stand the most, is the clapping and people literally screaming Out loud ! They just let go of themselves like if they were at their home with only their friends or if they were (like I said) watching a football game. That, personally, totally ruins the key moments and impacted my overall experience and appreciation of the movie. I can't even (spoilers!) appreciate the fact that Tobey and Andrew are back are Spidey without al least 30 people shouting all around the theater ' LET'S GO WOOHOOOOO' and so on.. Obviously I get the excitement, Spider-Man is a big part of my life, but can't people behave themselves and just love what happens on screen without having to scream at every little reference or call back, or character appearances ? I do know for a fact that this takes me right out of the movie, all the time.. Honestly I would totally understand the clapping part if the screening happened during a premiere, because you would be congratulating the director's work and all. But why the hell clapping otherwise? I don't get how this a natural reaction when seeing something you like in a movie, ESpecially when ma y people are around you.. Sorry for the long statement 😅 I just wanted to express myself about this fact. No Way Home is easily my worst movie experience in years. I still liked parts of it but the experience in theater I had really can't make me appreciate it more. But obviously that will fade away with time, but still.. I wish I could change that about most people, and I'm sure that would it be for the better of most people who likes watching movies to evade and just enjoy whats on screen (or maybe not who knows). Thank you for reading until that point if you did ! May you (anyone reading this) be the happiest possible!

Your story on your dad's passing was beautifully put, especially as you've been through a lot personally and have been open about. I didn't realise quite how important these guys were to me either until I saw them on screen again. Great points about the set up of the plot re: Dr Strange's spell, Sean. I 100% agree it was a disappointing setup in terms of Strange going out of character. The one thing ill add that helped me get over my disappointment a BIT was the fact that the added the throwaway line about Wong & Strange doing this spell all the time in college for trivial reasons & nothing went wrong. It was a throwaway line, no doubt, but in lieu of not having more run time to flesh out the scenario (as you pointed out), I thought the line was good enough to explain why Strange would do this spell with such little reason for it. I still side with you though that it was weak, & Strange not explaining to Peter about the ramifications of the spell makes no sense, but I thought it was better than the trailer had showed, atleast. Plus, Wong basically said okay to the spell as he left

I agree that the set up of the plot is a bit weak, but i feel that there were exterior motives on dr strange’s end for him to act that way. He seemed to be a bit off that he is no longer sorcerer supreme and acted slightly bitter when talking to wong. He also cared to peter snd got emotional that he had to say goodbye to peter and refused to do it at first at the end of the fight. That’s what i picked up, i dont know if that’s what they were trying to imply but yeah
