In this video I pay respects to the late great Stan Lee and talk about one of his best creations at marvel. Spiderman. Spider has had plenty of games made about him, but there is one that reigns supreme and takes the cake as the best spiderman gaming experience available. It's also one of my favorite games of all time.

I was about 14 when this game came out on PS1. I was SUPER excited since it was the first 3d Spidey game, and because Neversoft was a rising star after knocking it out of the park with Tony Hawk in 1999. I felt it could be really special. So much so, that I would email Neversoft anytime I had an idea haha. They were a relatively small studio at the time, and seriously they would email me back within a day or two trying to hype me up and I really do believe they would listen to my goofy suggestions as a fan. I remember I said being able to wear different costumes like the Symbiote and Scarlet Spider suit would be awesome, and they said they "told the team", and that I would "be in for a surprise". I'll never forget that. RIP Neversoft.

The way you explained this game story just made it sound like what a little kid would write for a video game. and it sounds like fun if they remaster I would definitely give it shot since it’s my first time playing this game

One of my favorite games growing up as a kid. I would beat it in the mornings B4 school cause I didn't have a memory card n it only took Abt an hour or so to playthrough

This one and the sequel from Vicarious Visions are both amazing games! IMO they are the best Spiderman games ever! Shattered Dimensions comes next, followed by Ultimate.

Spider-Man 2000 is clearly a masterpiece. Even if it's 2 hours long. The NG+ playthrough with wacky changes is also hilarious.

I memorized most of the lines in this game growing up, and as soon as I heard Stan Lee's intro speech the lines just started flowing out of me as if I was a kid again. It truly was an excellent game, I wouldn't say THE best but I sure as hell learned more about the lore of comics from this game alone. (never read the comics)

Same with my copy of Road Rash. It was used when I got it and I would leave it on all day because it had a jukebox with all the great songs. I’ve bought the two other copies I’ve come across at garage sales/thrift stores.

78% isn’t an overly flattering score for the highest rated version. That means AT BEST a 78. There are very few top tier games with a metascore of 78 or lower anyway. We would have FAR more shared games you and I both really like that scored exactly a 90 on metacritic, than games that scored 78 or below.

I love this game because it honestly felt like comic book Spider-Man in video game form. I love what Insomanic is doing but I kinda wish there was a sister series of linear Spider-Man games that continued what this game and it's sequel had. The closest were the PS3 Spider-Man games. Also I'm glad you made that comment about Rino Romano. He does not get enough respect as a Spider-Man and to me he is the definitive Spider-Man voice. I know he's done Batman stuff so idk if he'll ever return as the webhead but he absolutely should if given the chance. Enter Electro wasn't bad but it defintely was a rush job unfortunately. Still fun and solid but no where near as good as the original. I know the lead developer for this game said he'd love to remake it and honestly I'd love that too just remake both games into one package and you'll have yourself a really fun game. Shame Stan Lee is no longer with us though so he'll be unable to record new dialogue.

I have to admit this game was my childhood and I can't even begin to remember how many times I played through it. Spider-Man has always been and still is my favorite superhero. (Sorry, Daredevil, you're my close second and I still loveya.)

I absolutely adore this game to the point where I literally bought the PS1 N64 and Dreamcast versions of it. It just so perfectly encapsulates the character. It has an awesome villian lineup and a mile a minute story. It's basically a weekend in the shoes of Spider-Man and I play through it multiple times every year.

I remember playing this game in my PS1 as well as it’s sequel. I would say 3 years ago I got an emulator and was playing this game in my iPad. Sucks that the sequel doesn’t get much love.

Enter Electro is substantially less good. It doesn't have the atmosphere, the story, the inventivity. It also has worse villains all around. And it has brutal difficulty spots for no reason. It's also somehow visually worse, because the devs didn't know how to leverage the art style.

Played this game last night, it is by far one of the best games I've played this year. Some parts of the game become rock hard half-way through the game. I just wish they had the whirling music as the spider logo comes on screen for each scene.

Man I played the N64 version so much as a kid! The cool red cart haha! The PS1 version seems better but I still beat my copy probably 50+ times! I loved that game! It's not too long but a fun thing to sit down and beat in one sitting for me as a kid

It's a shame there wasn't a third game to close the saga and with a sinister six And I expected some villains from this game like: Green Globin Main villain Secondary villains: Hobglobin Black cat Kingpin The Rose Son of Kingpin The Enforcers Alistair Smythe And your robots hunt spiders Man-Wolf (Jameson's son) Morbius Vulture Kraven the Hunter Chameleon Hydro-man Jackal With the clone saga The return of Sandman And finally Beetle Secret villain And all the villains from the previous 2 games return A shame it will never happen.. 🥺😔 like and Bye!

I still think Ultimate Spider-Man is the best because it captured the Ultimate Spider-Man comics perfectly with the cutscenes, models, animations, and art style. And Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite comic run and version of Spider-Man.

I love this game but personally I enjoyed Enter Electro more and that game never gets any love. The gameplay was improved and It also has a much better suit system that actually is comparable to the modern Spider-Man games.

Spider-Man on PS4 was seriously disappointing to me. Yeah the swinging is cool as hell obviously but it just feels empty. Basically I was hoping for random boss encounters with iconic villains like Green Goblin and Venom. Imagine you're swinging to the next mission and Green Goblin knocks you out of the air with a pumpkin bomb from nowhere and now you're in a boss fight. Or you look down and you see the Rhino causing chaos on the street level and cars are exploding everywhere and shit. Then eventually near the genes end they start ganging up on you as the sinister six. So much potential.

@@Kilooma I agree, Spider-man Ps4 is a very good game. My only gripe with Spider-man Ps4 was it's side content, it was a bit on the bland side of things. I look forward to it's sequel!

Spider-Man has a lot of good games to be honest. Spider-Man ps4, Miles, Web of Shadows, Raimi's Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Shattered Dimensions, Edge of Time, Spider-Man ps1, and even Enter Electro are all good games if you ask me. Web of Shadows and Ultimate are particularly underrated I think.

The second game wasnt made by neversoft unfortunately (not the same team). And it really shows. I missed the vibe of the first one, the colorfull comiclike world. I also didnt like the music for the second game. The first one was silent and than had reallt good music when the action kicked in. The second one was dark, gritty and ……I dont know. It didnt had the same vibe as the first one. What is your opinion of the second one? The first one is the best spiderman game for me also ☺️. It also missed some comical vibe like the interactions with venom 🙃

I played this game as a kid and I loved it and have a ton of nostalgia for it...but it isn't even remotely the best Spider-Man game, not even close. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and it can be fun to breathe it in a bit every now and then, but ffs don't cook it in a spoon and inject it directly into your eyeballs.

I personally disagree. The controls felt better on ps1 however the graphics and especially black cat looked much better on the dreamcast version.

Actually, Ultimate Spider-Man is a good game. Firstly, you really should form your own opinions instead of going off review scores. Instead of just listing the scores, you should actually talk about the gameplay and what makes it bad. Secondly, I fail to see how 78% is a bad score. If you want to list bad Spider-Man games, much more worthy examples are Spider-Man 3 and Friend or Foe.

How do you just claim it has the best level design and then not say a single thing explaining how? Level design is a super complex and valuable part of a game’s design and you just gave the win to Spiderman PS1 as some gimme.
