What I also love is not just Doc Ock, but all the villains have real motivations and make us feel somewhat bad for them Rhino hated being the Rhino and just wanted to get out of his suit Scorpion was in serious debt from gambling and wanted it all gone Vulture wanted to extend his life as he had spinal cancer and didn't want to die Shocker was being threatened by Li's gang and forced him against his will to become Shocker again, even though he gave up his life of crime Li had severe mental illness and a traumatic past because of a science experiment gone wrong, and even though he was trying to do good by making others happy, his demons sadly got the best of him Almost every villain felt human and we knew why they were evil. Life gave them the hardest times, and in turn it created monsters. THAT is how villains should be done

This game makes you feel like Spider-Man. But more importantly, it makes you feel like Peter Parker.

How dare you forget to mention the most compelling character in the game? The one with the best story arch, voice acting, and a heart of fucking gold!? Spider cop!

I think whats genius in the last cutscene with aunt may **SPOILERS** They flipped Uncle Bens death with Aunt Mays death. Whereas Ben died due to a lack of responsibility, Aunt May died due to Peters sense of responsibility.

My God. This video is everything I felt about the game put into words. Everyone is banging on about graphics this and webswinging that and making you feel like Spiderman but this. This video right here. This is what Spider-Man PS4 truly is.

I think what makes this games' story as good as Spider-Man 2 is both of these stories tackles sacrifice. For example, Peter sacrificed his relationship with Octavius to save the city and he sacrificed Aunt May for the development of the cure. This is what makes a real hero. I love this game goddamn.

Spider-Man grown up, not just Man in name. I almost skipped this because thought it was just another Spiderman ps4 video in my recommended but then realized it was you, so I knew it would be good.

I'm going to be honest, when I had discovered that the Raimi suit was being included in the game, I cried. Tears of joy. It was a feeling I don't think I will ever experience again.

I think a lot of fans feel similarly to the sheer delight in this video. It's an immensely joyous feeling, knowing that good Spider-Man material can still exist today.

Another thing is, every single line of voice acting was done amazingly, every time, it felt like it was actually being said by the characters in the situations they were in, instead of it sounding like a voice mail from a tired person sitting in their home. Like when Spider-Man is fighting, it sounds like he’s breathing a bit heavier. You can feel the emotions. It’s not just toneless “I need to go stop Doc” like in other spider-man games.

I don't mind Spider-Man as a teen nor as an adult, as long as it's done right. Spider-Man as a teen, you see his growth, his development as a superhero, what he gets right, what he gets wrong and how he overcomes it. That's what I (personally) wanna see in a Spider-Man adaptation or a show. People get tired of seeing him as a teen because "It's been done before!". Well to me, I feel like it hasn't been done right, before...

That part where Peter was texting MJ after defeating Martin made me feel how my friend felt having an awkward patch/phase with his crush. So when you say "we've had moments like these", yeah these characters feel real to me. I love the relationship of the Peter and MJ in this game.

Spider-Man PS4 is what Homecoming should’ve been. Focusing on the internal conflicts and consequences he faces because he’s Spider-Man. Easily the best interpretation of this character in years outside of the comics. I love this game I had no problems with this game outside of the puzzles. And the ending with Aunt May was executed beautifully. Mary Jane was great and I don’t understand why people seem to hate her and while I really liked Miles in the comics, he was great in the game. Overall this is one of the best games I’ve ever played and one of the best stories with this character ever.

I recently just finished playing this game and I had gotten accidentally spoiled about Aunt May's death beforehand, AND YET when she uttered her last line to a conflicted Peter - "You know what to do" - i still absolutely broke man. This game was an absolute gem, a true love letter to Spidy fans (just like how Into the Spider-verse was!) and I honestly think he's the best version of Spider Man to date! Well maaaybe along with Peter B. Parker - they both share the #1 Peter Parker spot in my heart together ❤️

One of the things about this game that will stick with me, amongst an endless amount, is how certain lines or ideas were addressed in the early hours and came back at the end in what is a very satisfying execution of storytelling. There's the duality of man (Martin Li), the mystery of Devil's Breath, Ock's gradual path towards breaking bad, and the way Peter and MJ grow closer together again throughout the game. But the one thing that really hit me, and was the least obvious for me to spot, was how Aunt May's now famous saying of, "When You Help Someone, You Help Everyone" is seen in a new light by the end of the game. I was moved by how Peter lived up to Ock's statement about how you have to make the hardest decisions to change the world when he sacrificed May to save all of New York, but in doing so he also showed that May's positive words can't always be true. Peter couldn't help save one person, that person being Aunt May, and still go on to help everyone else. He had to help everyone at the expense of the one, and lost the dearest person in his life because of it. It reminds me of another famous Aunt May line from Spider-Man 2, which is only fitting for how much this game feels in tune with the themes and emotions of that movie: "I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams." Fuck I love this game.

Anyone else *love* how in the final batle with Ock, it takes the scene from Spider-Man 2 that we were *all* thinking of and completely reverses it? Instead of Ock realising that Peter is Spider-Man, Peter realises Ock already knew. Honestly when his mask broke, I was convinced it would follow in Spider-Man 2's footsteps but somehow it did the exact opposite and it's *better.*

He's gonna hate the PS5 remaster, because they ruined Peter's face. They made him look like a kid.

I love that this game's ending was essentially the anti-One More Day.

Insomniac did what Homecoming tried to do: give a story without mentioning Uncle Ben. In Homecoming, it felt as if Uncle Ben never existed. It felt like Peter lost his sense in Responsibility after Civil War, just to be an Avenger. Even the “If this be my Destiny” scene felt underwhelming, because rather than remembering Uncle Ben, he just thinks of Tony Stark(also don’t give me that “bUt hE’s JuSt A kId” argument, because he was around the same age and still had a sense of responsibility). Insomniac did it just right. Everything that Spider-Man did, he did it for Responsibility; after MJ’s mission in Norman’s room, she tells him of Otto, Harry, and Martin Li, he still felt as if all of that was his fault.

Hard agree. I’ve played this through so many times, the ending is poignant and they even extend the plot points in the DLC. I’m so glad someone else loves this thing the same way I do. I remember all the accolades for story being piled on God of War and I really don’t think it even touches the craft of Spider-Man. It’s so human and faithful to the characters they’re building. I love Peter in the game, he actually inspires me to be a better person just like the comic book version did. This is a video game people, it finally feels like the art form is growing up.

I'm glad that the game decided to go with an older Peter. I never understood the "Spider-Man was in his best in High School" thing. In the original comics he was only in HS for a few issues. It was only in Ultimate Spider-Man, a completely separate universe where he was in High School as a major selling point. Also all the best, or at least most of the best Spider-Man stories take place when Spider-Man is in college or having already graduated college.

You know what also makes this better than the films? It handles the "Multi-Villian Dilemma" beautifully. The Sinister Six are all interconnected and have a central focus, their formation stemming from Otto's madness and how he plans to aid them in return for getting his revenge on Norman. Heck, even Fisk is a large part of the plot, even though he is dealt with in the first 30 minutes. His absence creates the power vacuum necessary for Li to begin his assault and inspire Otto. This story line is perfect. It makes Peter put Spider-Man’s responsibilities over Peter’s Personal life. That is Spider-Man. Being Spider-Man isn’t web slinging through the city. It’s making sacrifices and put other in front on you.

Spider-Man Ps4 was what Spider-Man homecoming should have been and how Spider-Man should be handled in his future films in the MCU it perfectly captures what makes Spider-Man so special

The scene where Peter can't give the anti serum to May, and the scene where Daredevil can't kill Fisk are PERFECT because the audience knows that doing so is what the character wants. What makes them heroes is having the strength to do that.

Thank you, finally a video that gets the intent and what makes this game special. There are too many reviews that try to diminish it by focusing on it not innovating gaming enough or having side character missions and not realizing the game is a love letter to everything that makes Spiderman beloved and is just so enjoyable to experience. This is the first time in a long time if someone asked me what they can experience to understand the appeal of Spiderman, I'd hand them this game and just say "this". I can't wait for the sequel

I 100% the game opening weekend, and I'm glad somebody else noticed the breath of fresh air that is the writing. Lots of people have been gushing over the web-slinging and open world gameplay - which I agree with - but this story brought me to tears numerous times. The reliability of Peter Parker is a core foundation of the character, and I'm glad Insomniac took advantage of it. The choices Peter makes have consequences, and according to Robert McKee; "True character is revealed in the choices a human being makes under pressure - the greater the pressure, the deeper the revelation, the truer the choice to the character's essential nature." This describes sections of the story perfectly.
