Switching mr negative from the helicopter scene in my opinion didn’t make any sense I think that reveal was perfect but for some reason they pushed it back as if we didn’t already see it in the reveal trailer
The problem is: if he had been in the helicopter scene, they would've needed to incorporate a way for him to get off the helicopter, otherwise he would've been caught by Peter, like his minions were in the final scene.
@@sethfeldpausch4337 in the reveal trailer he grabbed peters arm & choked him he could’ve easily corrupted him & while Spider-Man was corrupted for that brief moment in the story Mr negative could’ve escaped similar to when he corrupted him in the chase scene it was stupid to remove him from the helicopter chase after he was already revealed in that trailer it literally makes 0 sense
Having just finished Marvels Spider-Man 2, I absolutely love the direction they decided to go with Martin Li/Mr Negative, I see now why they were so vague about what happened to him at the end of the first game.
I agree a lot with the first problem except for the part about Aunt May having no reaction to Martin's downfall. Now yes it definitely doesn't reach the heights of Peter's reaction to Otto, but May does say that she doesn't want believe that Martin is capable of doing what he did and is choosing to only remember Martin before all of this. For the second problem and third problem, no issues here. Though, I don't think there's anything that says that sable's forces didn't capture him. We just didn't see it, so I think it's more reasonable to assume that they did capture him, but I could be wrong. Great video! Didn't really change my opinion on Mr negative, but I acknowledge there are faults here.
Yeah someone must've gotten him cause in trailers for Spider-Man 2 we see he ended up in the Raft and Miles is gonna go after him possibly to get revenge for his dad
I really wish we saw Martin get arrested and thrown in his cell. After his boss fight and Doc Ock throws him away, he's knocked out and never seen or mentioned again. We should have seen him thrown in his cell after we see Octavius put in his. Maybe have him sit on the bench, lean and put his hand on his forehead, showing he deeply regrets what he's done

What irks most about this is considering similarities in design and nearly motive with across the spider verse the spot. Imagine if they fumbled the spot this hard then replaced him with an A lister who's already had the spotlight numerous times. Reminds me of Arkham origins black mask getting replaced and undermined by the Joker.
Mr Negative should have stayed as the Leader of the Sinister Six in this Story instead of Ock. Doc could have just been the brains of the operation while Li was still in charge and we still could have got Doc as the final boss with all the same story beats. But before him there should have been a Mr Negative final confrontation to resolve his story.
I think the reason Li didn't go in the room is because he knew Peter was in there snooping around and he didn't know peter knew who he was before that so he mustve thought he was basically caught by peter at that moment so he had to leave as quick as possible
I think you are right Martin Li is supposed to an antagonist to the main protagonist but Peter isn't the protagonist Martin Li is ment for its Miles Morales since his dad was killed by Li directly. Peter's antagonist is Doc Ock since his was the one who released devils breath which kills aunt may. Li is setup for Spider-Man 2 for Miles, Miles has to learn the lesson not to kill Li he will have to go on a journey just like Peter to learn with great power must come great responsibility.
At least in the second game he had a happy ending,he redeemed himself and became good But I agree,it would be incredible if he was the main villain of this first game from the beginning Until the end and had more of a relationship between Li and Peter From uncle and nephew and he discovered Spider-Man's identity and had an interaction Amazing at the end of the game 🤔😎👍 like and Bye!
I think problem 1 stems from the fact that the main relationship focuse was the father-son type between Peter and Otto more than focus on the brother-to-brother. Also as someone already stated, Aunt May explicitly stated that she didn't want to believe that side of Martin and only wanted to focus on the side that ran F.E.A.S.T. now I do agree that he should've had more interactions with the parkers, more meaningful ones like having a heart to heart with Peter rather than May expositions the relatability. Now for problem 2, do you not understand the willpower of Peter alone? Sure corruption is a thing in everyone but Peter's goodwill absolutely outweighs the negativity from Martin. He's more focused on saving people than letting out his worst side. That's why Peter didn't get corrupt when Martin initially touched him during the armored truck chase. Also as explained in the story if one were to pay attention: He wanted to show Manhattan what Norman was doing under the table. On the surface it would look like he was making a super dangerous bioweapon in NYC rather than taking it to a snow bunker or something. Also the game is already lengthy enough so we can't keep enough focus on Martin as much as the overarching story. I do admit that he was decent in the first half of the game, but ultimately started to fall flat after the prison break mission.
I have a much bigger problem with Mr. Negative's origin. I still don't see why Li's parents allowed their son to be subjected to Oscorp experiments, not to mention how exactly would negative powers cure Harry. It just seems like a major part in his story was cut out or the writers simply got lazy and put any excuse to have him in the game. I would've had Li as someone that worked at Oscorp and found out about Devil's Breath, so Li would end up in an "accident" that would get him killed but instead he got powers. May would help him as someone that lost everything in his life and he would slowly build up his schemes with the demons to expose Norman with the Devil's Breath.
Li was stick and his parents were desperate to save his child and only one they could turn to was Oscorp the fact Li parents stayed with their son costed them their Lives and the fact Li was able to do so much good even with all the trauma was amazing but the demon eventually won and he needed Osborn dead so he could move on from the past.
Despite how much i love this game its nice to see some genuine criticism rather than random nitpicks that mean nothing or straight up lies and im saying as a way to say im like #182
Li should have been souly for Miles, Miles should have been volunteering at FEAST way before Aunt May brought him into it and have a history with Li already, that way when t turns out Li was responsible for Miles's fathers death it would hurt more. obviously we could also have peter helping in FEAST but more with Aunt may I think this would also help with the upcoming spiderman game since Miles has been shown in trailers to know that Li escape the Raft and he clearly wants revenge, it would feel more deserved
I can't help but agree that Mister negative suffers from a lot. Part of it I think it could be because of his original comic book back story where it's nowhere near as deep and complex as the Sony version which is actually the strangest part. Part of me thinks that the real reason why they went with Mr. negative is that the spot has a bigger history and also Mr. negative kind of flows with his power set being very limited. Honestly this feels more like a very important storyline to point out that this is happening in an election year. And we don't get it more clear that this is an election year until miles 's story and that is one of the problems. By this point Norman is supposed to be dropping out of the race due to certain issues. And clearly this was written before the pandemic so I do feel like this is one of the cases of the Wriders didn't foresee the plot of the real world. Honestly I think it's the problem of making the game a little too short[very clearly on that subject matter you can tell that the game is written a little too short in my personal opinion when it comes to certain parts of the storyline! Considering miles gets two MJ sequences! [from what I can recall it's been a while since I've watched the game] it also doesn't help matters that the DLC not only slots in and out between the plot poorly I mean the black cat DLC is the best one to slot in and out throughout the storyline. And hammerhead is explicitly set after the story but with the exception of maybe one thing I feel like hammerhead could work during the storyline. And I think that's a problem a lot of the storyline kind of feels like they were trying to figure out how to extend the game when they didn't need that problem! Who knows maybe we could have had a storyline that actually reflected the fact that this is coming up during an election year like the good side of Lee is trying to run but the bad side keeps getting in his way on running for office beating Norman in a positive status but his emotions of beating Norman dig deep into his negative personality. Besides miles's mom is running for the mayor of Brooklyn not New York I know writers tend to forget how these are major cities not streets separating the two! Just because the mayor of New York also feels more like a governor's position without it being explicitly stated that it's a governor's position. And I'm not gonna dig into the deep politics of the series.
Really good comment! Just wanted to clear some things up: I don't think the hammerhead dlcs could work in the main game because a lot of it hinges on the fact that Sable's weapons are being stolen. Also Miles' mom was running for a position as a councilwoman (not a mayor). Having Li be a political opponent to Norman could work very well. I just don't think it's as important because the game already does a good job at showing how scummy Norman is without the election stuff in my opinion (less on the nose compared to Krieger from Miles' game).
@@QTRemnant well it has been a long time since I've seen let's play on the games although technically Krieger is trying to do a company town thing, / kind of like the Amazon deal. Aside from his plotline being incredibly stupid even by rich billionaire stupidity standards although we're getting very close to his being very intelligent thanks to his allegory which is Elon Musk. That's why I said there's technically one part that makes it have to show up after the timeline and that is stealing sables technology not stealing the technology from octavius.
I like that this channel actually gives criticism to the story and doesn't just meatride the game and treats it like the "best Spider-Man game ever made" like a lot of casual Spider-Man gaming fans and insomniac fans do. It really isn't the best, it really isn't. Still a good game though, not the best though.
As a Spiderman game it's the second best after Miles Morales, as a Spiderman story it's not the best even if that Doctor Octopus battle is incredible and leaves you with an amazing feeling. (To anyone questioning, the story of Miles Morales is worse than this one).
It is the best spider man game ever made. cry about it. If you think any of the past spider games can even hold a candle to spider man ps4 you are either blinded by nostalgia or are just trying to be different than everyone else
@@NHTube1 I'm not blinded by Nostalgia. Nor am I trying to be different. I didn't even play Web Of Shadows until 2016. I bought a ps4 for Marvel's Spider-Man and 100% completed the game in 48 hours. I've replayed the game at least 10 times. I know the game Inside and out. You clearly have not played the older games and need to realize the Insomniac Spider-Man games are not as great as people treat them as. With a lot of story flaws. Characters being wasted potential, Arkham rip-off combat when they already had Web Of Shadows to look to for combat, and hand holding Web swinging that takes zero effort to be good at compared to WOS and Spider-Man 2 from 2004. Games that had high skill ceiling in terms of web swinging. If you don't read this comment because of its length then that tells me you aren't willing to hear about you not understanding your flawed viewpoint. If its your favorite Spider-Man game ever made, I get it, but objectively speaking it's not the best. The new one doesn't seem to be that much better either.
@@JuliaEnthusiast the story in the game is literally perfection. Especially aunt May’s death. Also the game is not an Arkham rip off. You are just going off of what people tell you. Arkham does not have air combat and web powers.
