For me, I unintentionally started the Howard mission after Peter got rid of the black suit and the sky was in a beautiful sunset time of day and it was just so peak
I did it after Peter starts looking for Harry, I needed something to cheer me up but instead I was so sad after it 😭 (Also fun fact that beautiful sunset time you’re talking about is usually referred to as Golden Hour :D )
I did the Howard quest right after Peter got the black suit. When Howard died it felt like that was the last straw that had prevented the black suit from influencing Peter.
I actually really liked the EMF missions because of the end. I never touched them during the story so Harry's grievances over EMF not working out in the finale hit hard. It felt really satisfying doing those missions postgame and listening to Harry's final message, it was almost like Peter finally got time to see how he and Harry's dream would have turned out and tried to redeem himself for his guilt over how he treated Harry.
In defence of Prowler Stashes - story wise, they were meant to finish before the end of Act 1, when Miles is still on his edgy revenge state. So, I would put it on Almost... tier. Also, I would put Rooftop Fireworks on whatever tier. Other than these two, I completely solidarity with this ranking!
Thank you for actually pointing out the problems with the date quest for Miles. So many people were on either side of the spectrum with total celebration of Miles supporting a gay couple and the other side of "why did they force this so heavily?" So it was nice to hear a mention of the problems with the quest
I won't lie, i was concerned it would be either entirely about the fact that it was gay (whether in a positive light or not) but you did it perfectly, you didn't even acknowledge it which is honestly perfect for both sides
Gay people being acknowledged at all and not a total fucking easter egg will always be perceived as forced by these types of peope. Something straights never really had to worry about like ever. So yeah whenever people make that complaint, raise crimson flags.
Honestly, I think senior prank would’ve been more interesting if it was reveal at the end, that a kid from Miles school was framing Midtown. After all, even if Miles‘s school is beating them in competitions, Midtown students are supposed to be smart, right? Why would they leave messages specifically in criminalizing themselves? Seeing as they set up the fact of the students at Miles’s are a bit self-absorbed, how about habit that Midtown finally beat them at some so the student tried ruining their reputation by framing them for theft Now I’ll admit I don’t know anything about these two schools in the comics apart from the fact, Peter and Miles went to them. For all I know they could be real schools I have never been to New York. Looking at a purely from a storytelling standpoint, I think that would’ve been a neat direction to take it in.
When I first started the Howard mission, I thought it was kinda cheesy, but as I led those birds around the city, I realized just how meaningful that action was. Those birds loved Howard enough to follow his instructions and leave with a stranger. (I know Peter caught them in the fist game, so they are familiar with him, but they don’t actually know him, they only interacted for a very short amount of time). Perhaps they even knew he was going to die. So by the time I dropped the birds off at their new home, I was fully sold on the emotions the game was trying to convey.
I personally am very excited for what Chameleon's story line has in store. In a way it feels like a second attempt at the Hush storyline from the Arkham Series so I hope it actually has a significant follow up.
Okay, think about it... Carnage DLC drops. Cletus Kassady dons the symbiote, but due to the effects that fire have towards symbiotes, he is extremely enraged that his relationship to the Flame is tarnished. The symbiote takes control of his rage and chaotic mindset, and you have to use his own beliefs against him, using fire based means to eliminate one of the deadliest symbiotes in Marvel history. THAT is a DLC I'll certainly pay for.
The emojis in the Hailey mission didn’t make her seem childish to me? Honestly it did the opposite making her be able to recognize people’s moods by their faces and so what if they add a little face to it?
I really liked them! I thought it fit Hailey’s personality since she’s always very bubbly and kind, so the emojis only aided in understanding how she perceives and experiences the world.
As a platinum holder of all 3 Spider-Man games, I absolutely loved Spider-Man 2, the side quests were enjoyable, the collectibles weren't too hard to find, and the suits were okay. (Except for the *Sponsored Segment* suit) Overall I'd rate it 9/10
I disagree with the Mysterio one. Thought the missions were generic and bland. The challenges in the first game were more memorable and a lot harder. The boss fight at the end was also brain dead easy. He never felt like a big bad villain at any point to me. It was just kinda there for me. Mediocre at best.
I didn’t want howard to die, man you got one of the best side character dying off while you fly his pets home with the most perfect music. Howard didn’t deserve to die, but he deserved the way they sent him off
Cletus stole the show. I have a huge bias because I absolutely love Carnage though. The dark and creepy atmosphere is so cool and I can’t wait for Carnage to arrive in dlc.
Quick heads up regarding the Spider-Bots collection quest. Delilah was a character that was planned for, but scrapped from, Across the Spider-Verse, but Insomniac didn't have the time to remove or replace her with another character.
In Miles Morales I completely ignored the Prowler missions because that sound mechanic was just so annoying. At least here it was passable. One thing that I found rather dumb was the air vent with the lasers, because you find the stash at the end near an exit that's easily accessible and doesn't have any obstacles. I agree with most rankings but I have to say the Mysteriums were a little disappointing. I wished it had more variety other than just combat missions. I like the time trial traversal missions from the first game and missed those
Just wish we had more side quests in which it wrapped up with a cool boss battle. Considering how lore rich the spiderverse is, just wished we had a few more is all...
I agree with the majority of your rankings, but I have to say, I really enjoyed collecting the Spider-Bots. Sure, they were just kind of a mass collectible, but I’m a huge fan of the Spider-Verse comic series. I loved looking at the different Spider-Bots, and trying to figure out which version they were before picking them up. The end scene was a pretty big letdown though. I’ve read almost all of the Spider-Verse comics, and I have no clue who the heck that lady was either.
@@Shahzadan Wait, really? They chose some random character that never even made into the movie to make a cameo in the game. Even if she had been put in the movie, it would have been so much better to see Miguel, or even Lyla. Also, thanks. I had no clue she even existed.
For the Haley mission, there was a missed opportunity to make some sort of actual “puzzle” where the player has to translate American Sign Language into English to solve. Example could be she runs into someone who’s learning ASL and they want to practice it so they sign three things and as the player (pulling a page from Uncharted) we pull out Haley’s notebook that shows a couple hand signs to decipher what they’re saying. Granted, this requires player dissonance since Haley would know her own language by heart and she wouldn’t need to carry a notebook. Notebook would be for the player. That said, some deaf don’t learn ASL from day one. Maybe she learned in recent years or she carries it for other people that care to communicate with her in her language. Couple of holes in this suggestion but i was just spitballing. Point is, puzzle element with her language. Insomniac seem to care a lot about inclusion. If they wanted to put us in her shoes, focus on how she communicates maybe???
@@TheSpectacularSpooderMon side missions often have puzzles. Puzzles come in many forms. Could be as simple as matching two or three hand signs to 2 or 3 words. Das it
9:00 I predicted it during my first time and was so freaking sad when he suddenly hung up, i obviously feared the worst and i hate that i was right. 😢 Idk why they were cooking that good for some of those missions.
I agree with a lot of these rankings, for the most part, and I will admit that I was at first blinded by the creative aspects of the Hailey mission when it came to how everything was muffled that I only saw it’s shortcomings later. I do agree that the Flame side missions were the best of them all, especially with how it set up Carnage. I wonder if the reason they had Peter keep the Anti-Venom Symbiote was for the express purpose of using it to beat Carnage in a later DLC or the next game. As for Delilah (I hope I’m spelling that right), she was actually supposed to be Across the Spider-Verse but was ultimately cut from the movie. I think she was suppose to run some sort of multidimensional bar or something where she was like a shoulder for Spot to cry on and encourage him to be the Villain he ends up becoming, but I could be wrong.
A bit random, but I really appreciated you going through them alphabetically instead of by ranking, it made it impossible to tell what your take would be before you even said it, and I love that. When rank videos go by rank the second they say whats next you already know their opinion, especially when youre down to the last one and you can already narrow it down. Its not huge, but I just prefer this style.
I don’t think the whole jazz history thing deserved to be in healing the world over grandpa mission. If the grandpa mission moved ppl to tears that says something
this dude is like an art critic for video games. the emojis during the Hailey side mission dont have an ulterior motive of talking down to the player, its just an artistic choice for the character who is literally an artist that has to text to communicate
I don't think there's a sinister ulterior motive, it's a criticism of their decision. If it was legitimately art and not cheap, child-like emojis I would feel much differently
I like how the sandman minions are really weak to water. In 1 sandman encounter, there's a big fountain and it's so much fun to beat that one by yanking the minions into the fountain one by one.
A quest-line I think could be cool would be one that introduces Hobie Brown’s Prowler. A new Prowler shows up and Miles (or Peter) has to figure out who they are as they commit heists.
The depiction of Cletus Cassidy was up there with Kraven and Venom for me. The gameplay also has dual-team capabilities that I forgot to mention which gives it a little extra oomph. It's my favorite of the game and the most like the Arkham series villain-centric side missions which are pretty much the gold standard as far as I'm concerned
I’m sorry, the fact that insomniac muted the audio for the Hailey mission had me dead 💀 I was laughing the whole time 10/10 mission, can’t wait for the daredevil mission where the screen is pitch black 😂😂😂
Miles: **yawns** Good morning my dear city! **checks phone** Anonymous: Looking good this red suit! Ganke: Come to the place! Hailey: **voicemail** Rio: Call me back!!! Miles: Hm. Aight. At his house Miles: Hey Mrs. Watanabe! How's it going? Wraith: Kid you still don't know right? Miles: **sighs deeply** Hailey: (Miles. Um. What you remember yesterday?) Miles: I just cured out Norman, got home and got to bed. Hailey: (Oh Miles. You're not being you.) Hailey: (The suit is changing you.) Miles: And the suit is the reason that you're not crying in my grave! Wraith: Yeah that's real great huh? Miles: Why don't ya get more wine 'til you fall in the floor! Hailey: (Hey! Don't.) Miles: I'm busting the SH*T out of it trying to save you and *THIS* is my reward?! Hailey: (I said "don't!") Miles: What does your commission was about?! Hailey: (I tried to talk about tha-) Miles: Yeah but didn't huh? Hailey: (I can't lose the degree Miles!) Miles: Your degree is to draw the truth! Hailey: (And I did wrote the) AH! Miles: **slaps Hailey** THE TRUTH IS THAT *I'M* THE HERO OF THIS CR4P AND I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!! Hailey: **pants in fear**
I liked the music museum mission but I knew who would be the bad guy from the start because there was only one white guy in the whole mission and I knew they wouldn’t make a black character a villain. Darren was fun but way too obvious.😅
I liked the actual finding and collecting of the Spider-Bots, but the ending didn’t land for me. I spent up to, like, the last 5 or so bots guessing which comic character/group would have made and dispersed all of them, then got really deflated when it all clicked. I’m just honestly so tired of multiverse-this, multiverse-that these days, and this mission suffered for me because of it. I love the Spider-Verse films, and will probably go see Beyond, but the effect they’ve had on media-especially outside of Spider-Man-has been exhausting.
I don’t blame Miles for being on Aaron, Aaron is partly responsible for Phins death after he lied to his face saying he was gonna help Miles. Even though he didn’t mean it, he could have also had Roxxon nearly kill him. Then the mf kidnaps Miles and locks him up after all that he’s done. I think Miles’s mistrust in Aaron is warranted
Also, I think Delila from the spiderbot mission may be this universe’s Lyla, the one from the movie. The names are very similar. Maybe Lyla is short for Delila?
True, but Spider-Man 3 also had the narrative weight of introducing Sandman as a villain, then adding that he's in fact the man who killed Uncle Ben while sidelining his storyline for Harry and Venom. Plus a movie is two hours so I don't really think it's a fair one-to-one comparison
I reeeallly like the robot dog mission more than it deserves idk there’s just something about this lady being blind AND allergic to dogs so they can’t get a guide just being such a Spider-Man universe level fuck you from god degree of bad luck and I loved seeing her get such an outlandish solution to her problem in a way that makes perfect sense given the logic of the game world; gankes done more ex machina things then reprogram a robot dog with RU-vid videos
10:41 This is what happens though. Atleast for some of them, when you complete it with stealth only the second wave doesnt come out. Maybe they patched this because I'e been playing it recently so I dont know
I disagree wholeheartedly on Harold. This story’s premise is completely dependent on some mysterious ailment that kills Harold on command when the mission ends. This is just baaaad writing. Especially seeing how easy it would have been to spin off the story from a crime where Harold gets assaulted and eventually succumbs. It would perfectly marry Spider-Guilt with a last wish and make everything much more cohesive and impactful.
The only problem I have with Homecoming Date is the kid doing that thing that most Spider-Man media does where they call Miles anything except Spider-Man
Personally, I loved the homecoming date mission - it was cool to help Lucas (who has a very similar name to my ex lol) ask his bf out. Made me feel good to see the queer representation. I see why you disliked it for the gameplay tho
Instead of using emojis for Haley mission mission done speech bubbles that you can read I feel like that would be a much better way to show how she’s feeling
Miles gets crammed into these games, but they fuck him so hard. Worst suits, worst game, worst side missions, no cool villains. Damn, why does Insomnia force Miles on players when they don't even respect him? Just let me play as Spider-Man.
8:37 Bro is taking it way too far like bro seriously? All of that made it horrible like, really? The dialogue was exactly what I’d expect from 2 teenage boys talking about going to homecoming together. Couldn’t enjoy a sweet moment, nah you’re “being held hostage” and “creepily watching people” goofy review.
Bruh I don’t know anything about Mile’s supporting cast of characters, so when I saw all the cartoon symbols and stuff, I legit thought Hailey was a lobotomite or something
