Spider-Verse - The Ultimate Spider-Man Movie 

My favorite part was a very subtle moment of emotional impact. When Peter B. Parker arrived at Aunt May's doorstep, he's not her Peter. By rights, they could be total strangers to one another. Different dimensions, different realities, different histories. And yet, without hesitation, she both accepts that her Peter is gone and accepts this new Peter into her heart without replacing the other. She simply cups his cheek and says "You look tired, dear." And he replies, "I am tired." There is such genuine, pure emotion in those few seconds of film. An unconditional and open familial love that is just beyond any good description. It made me sob like a baby.

I absolutely adore Miles and every scene he's in but I really wish more people talked about one moment in the film with Gwen and Peter that hit me really, really hard-I didn't even notice it the first time around. When Peter spots MJ and tries to go talk to her, Gwen tells him "Trust me, I've been there. You've gotta move on, buddy." And it takes a minute to settle in, but you realize that she's talking about *him.* My heart kinda broke once I got it.

I'm really tired of realistic CGI in 3D animated movies. I want more experimental stuff like this one. This movie is a comic book come to life, I don't care how accurate the light effects are or how many wrinkles I can see.

As a film major with no personal connection to Spiderman at all, I can say that this was one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.

From a comedic stand point, i really liked when Spider-Noir said he'd a lit match until it burned almost completely just to feel something, ANYTHING...and then when "the wind" blows off the match he just lets an "Aww..." of extreme dissapointment From the "feels" standpoint, i felt horrible when in the supercollider final fight Kingkin's family is materialized for just long enough for them to re-create the very same scene that ultimately led to their deaths. That's just awful, man.

How about that end credit scene though? *points in Spider-Man*

Can we all just appreciate this film's use of the greatest post-credits scene in any Marvel film?

It's small, but... The stickers. Spider man flings around town leaving a calling card- Something where no person will ever be able to find them. All over town, on gargoyles, on top of water towers, in the depths of a sewer... Just as a signature. 'Hey. I was here. Congrats on finding this.' Whether it be some starry eye child seeing it up high, someone looking around on top of a building in the middle of night, perhaps some kids down in the sewers; They'll see these stickers and know someone was here. Spiderman was. And that idea... Is fucking amazing.

The Prowler is definitely my favorite overall part of the movie. They really took a mediocre villain and turned him into a terrifying yet sympathetic character. Aaron in the movie is LEAGUES better than Aaron in the comics. He actually cares about Miles. He wants Miles to be the best he can be. He's a legitimately good person when he's not running around as the Prowler. When he IS running around as the Prowler, he's absolutely terrifying. Prowler's audio aesthetic is, in my opinion, the best in the movie. No other character's theme music stood out as much as Prowler's did, and that's part of why he's as terrifying as he is. The howling screech noise in his theme music was phenomenal. It made the audience feel the same anxiety and fear that Miles felt when he was being stalked by the Prowler. Not only that, but it gave us a bit of a taste of what Spidey-Sense is like. In the Aunt May house fight scene, when Miles is freaking out and telling the rest of the crew about Aaron being the Prowler, Prowler's theme is playing quietly in the background. It tells us that there's danger coming, just like spidey-sense would.

as someone who saw and heard a lot of people give this movie flak because it was animated the line from spider-ham "what's wrong with cartoons" was one of the most hell ya moments i had watching this movie :P

I gotta give praise to prowler's theme, specially in his first chase sequence with Miles. It's such a riveting piece, and matches the character perfectly, specially the "whirring" which sounds like a horrifying creature's roar, and made me think for a while that it was Prowler making those noises, as if he himself was an always chasing predator, hunting Miles whenever he was at the scene

The biggest accomplishment of this movie is probably that I now want a movie for each of these Spider people. Thats how interesting they all were.

The death of spider Man and public reaction and handling of it was amazing. We seen death of Superman but seeing the death spider Man and going public of who he is was touching

It's tough to say any one part is my favorite since the entire movie is on that 12/10 shit, but a standout moment that I barely see anyone talk about was when Jefferson talks to Miles from behind the door of his dorm when Miles was webbed up by Peter, right before he figured things out. The entire speech just smacked me in my emotions, damn near got me all weepy-eyed in the theater. The delivery was on point too, the barely repressed emotions of dealing with his brother's death and how he feels his son is drifting away really came through, it's like he thought this was his last chance to be real with his kid. But like I said, that's just one standout moment, along with pretty much the entire movie. Just something that stuck with me a little, that's all. EDIT: Oh my god and the Stan Lee cameo got everyone in the theater choked up bad. It really says something that out of all the great cameos he's done, that one is my favorite.

I loved that we got such a great introduction of Miles into pop culture. I hope that after this film people will stop thinking of him as some wanna-be Spider-man and see him as his own special character who also embodies all that Spider-man stands for. 10/10

Why does no one ever mention Steve Ditko also dying in 2018? Like for true Spider-Man fans that was as upsetting as Stan Lee dying, in fact to all people it should be as it was another life ending. The guy worked so hard and he’s getting so little recognition for his creation

Hah, animation student here!, sharing some fun facts about Spiderverse! In some interviews I've read, the 'choppy' feeling some observe while watching is because they animated the majority of the movie on what we in the biz call "2s" -- The equivalent of one new movement every other frame (So there's a frame of nothing in between each movement) and did some of the more smoother-looking action on "1s" -- New movement every frame, which is why it's got that noticeable pop of difference. Typically 1s are used in 3D animation and you'll see traditional animators employing 2s and 3s (New motion every 3 frames) so it's very, very cool to see it all blended together in this gorgeous movie working in tandem! That concludes my nerd lesson. Happy New Year!

The fact that Spider-Ham is just dripping wet in his introduction, and it literally goes nowhere. it's not like a Chekhovs Gun where it's like 'oh haha he's wet all the time! that's his bit' no. he's just. wet. in that one scene where he's introduced. and at no other point in the movie. Also that they just leave it entirely up to imagination how on earth he got that wet. god that whole bit is just stunning.

This movie is what happens when Sony finally realizes "Hey! Maybe instead of trying to impress our shareholders and make poorly thought out demands to the creative team mid-production, how about we just trust the talent we hired to make a good movie?!".

I think it's worth pointing out that at the beginning of the song What's Up Danger you can clearly hear the Prowler theme (showing how his death motivated him)

One of my favorite parts is how they animate Miles at 12 fps at the beginning of the movie and by the time he takes the leap of faith, he's being animated at 24 fps

I loved the music that played every time Prowler was on screen. It made him feel more like a monster from a horror movie rather than a villain from a super hero movie. Because, a super villain you can fight, and beat. But a horror movie monster, you either run your ass off, or die. And that was the exact feeling I had whenever Prowler appeared, and that terror inducing music washed over the scene like the chills in my spine. And the tension of seeing him inches from Miles' invisible face right before the big reveal, made my blood run cold as ice. And while I was busy trying to pick my jaw off the floor, my 9 year old son exclaimed "That's so cool!".

Another thing we should note is the line “Your shoe’s untied” it’s up to interpretation if it actually means something but imo I think it’s supposed to resemble Miles tripping on himself and that he chooses to do so. He wants to stay in his comfortable area and doesn’t want to do something new as he doesn’t believe he can do it. But in actuality he can, he just needs to choose to tie that shoe and trust in himself.

Not just Stan Lee, Steve Ditko also died this year and was as important as Stan to make the hero what he is today.

I don’t think I’ve ever related to a Spider-Man harder than Peter B. Parker and the line he says before he goes home “How do I know I’m not gonna mess it up again?” Hits me the hardest of all, the way he grabs onto Miles, almost desperate for someone to tell him that he’s ready again, much like Miles was before and to be told that it’s “a leap of faith” is beautiful, nobody knows if he’s ready, not even himself. The unspoken parallels between Peter and Miles is wonderfully done, the fact that age and ability wise they’re polar opposites, yet both are learning to be Spider-Man, one for the first time and another for the second, even if Peter doesn’t realise it, he’s still being taught so much and goes through a fantastic arc in this film. THIS FILM FUCK, I’m so happy it exists, the studio that brought us the goddamn Emoji movie has created the best Spider-Man movie and best comic book movie since The Dark Knight and the fact that it’s getting crushed by mediocrity like Aquaman is a damn shame.

Honesty my favorite part of this movie is when miles is trapped in his chair and his dad stops by. I honestly thought that the dad would either try to barge in and miles would some how gain control of his powers right there and it would be a comedic thing. But it was somber and really moving, while the dad respected his son’s boundaries, while miles obviously wanted to talk and to see his father couldn’t because he wasn’t ready to face him yet. It was a good scene

I just love how when miles put on the suit and is being himself he moves like his uncle did instead of trying to be like one of the spiders

How crazy that in the same year we lost both original creators of Spider-Man, Ditko and Lee, we also watched Peter Parker die on the big screen...TWICE. It's been an emotional roller coaster year for Spidey, but between Avengers, Spider-Man PS4, and Spider-Verse, it's also been one of the best years.

I absolutely loved it, but the stan lee cameo hit me like a punch in the gut. I met him at a comicon once, i was walking past and some enforcer was telling a line that it was past the sighning time, stan said "excuse me young man but these people have waited so long in line, ill stay here all night to meet each one if I have to" I took a step over and said "sorry Mr.Lee I know I'm not in line but im a huge spiderman fan however with what you just said you are my hero" He shook my hand and said "thank you my friend, that means alot to me" and off I went so I didn't hold up the line. Than when he delivered his spidervers line that moment came back and ooof.. like a punchin the gut but right in the feels.

The fact that Illumination's Grinch made twice as much as Spiderverse during their opening weekends, and the fact that Mary Poppins Returns, Aquaman and Bumblebee come out this month too really lower the chances of seeing a sequel. If this movie fails because of all of that, then society is fucking doomed. We should reward creativity, not the same lazy rehash. Please go see Spiderverse multiple times people! I know I will!

I love how fleshed out the funeral scene was and you can actually feel the grief and sadness of everyone in New York felt while 'I'm Not Scared' played- that's just a perfect example of attention to detail this movie played out.

First of all, the Prowler's design is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Second, I saw this on Netflix and I hope it comes back to theaters because holy geez the movie is gorgeous!

I went to see this movie with a friend who isn't big into comics, but he came out loving this movie. While the credits were rolling, I explained to him about Spiderman 2099 usually taking up Penni's spot, and how I missed him, but loved the new Spidermech. Then the End Credits Scene played. Then I realized they confirmed that even the old cartoon series were Spiderverses. Then my brain was fried from all the new possibilities.

SPOILS For me, the most affecting moment in this magnificently gorgeous film was when Miles' dad was pouring out all of his love and pride for his son to Miles' closed dorm door, giving Miles the self-confidence and self-love he needed to become the hero he always wanted and was always willing to be. I had low expectations going into this movie... I didn't read the spider-verse OR miles morales comics... and I was very worried about Sony going off on their own on this one. I was blown away by this movie!! This is easily one of my favorite Spider-Man movies of all time. I think my favorite character is Doc Oc, I'm glad they left the character out of the promo material.

Almost every comment in this thread is praising a completely different moment in the movie with genuine fervor, which speaks volumes for how good this movie is. Honestly. I'm what's known as the farthest possible thing from a Spiderman fan. The only movie I've watched of Spiderman is one I vaguely remember seeing when I was six years old, and my dad only took me there because we had free tickets. I don't even remember who the villain was (I remember there was a dark spiderman there, so it was probably Venom) and I remember coming out of the movie hall a completely unimpressed six-year-old (and I was pretty easy to please back then, so the film must have been really bad lol). But this movie...it took my breath away. Despite me having reservations about whether it was worth my time, me remembering very few of the names of spiderman heroes and villains and NONE of the backstories; hell, I wasn't even sure if the original spiderman's name was Peter A. Parker, Peter B. Parker or just Peter Parker (guys I'm sorry please don't crucify my utter lack of knowledge)...but despite everything, the movie still worked its magic. The animation and art was incredible. The music was eargasmic. The story, plot and characters sucked me in, and I'm sure I had a big smile on my face during all the high points of the movie, and teared up for all the emotional bits. I also really appreciated how despite being made on such an impressive scale, the film itself was humble. It had no "Only true Spiderman fans will be able to truly understand this scene/reference/joke" periods, but at the same time it never went into unnecessary detail. I began the movie expecting my lack of knowledge of the franchise to push me away from the experience...but instead I felt the movie pull me into its embrace. This is one movie which I think could still make me feel the same way, even if I came back to watch it again and again.

0:10 People keep forgetting Steve Ditko also died this year. He was the co-creator of Spider-Man, if you didn’t know. I’m only mentioning this cause MB forgot to bring him up, which is kinda inexcusable when you’re bringing up deaths and tragedies related to the character. I mean, how could you forget when they paid tribute to both at the end of the credits? I’m just bothered by it, that’s all.

I've only known Peni Parker for a short period of time, but I already have a burning desire to protect her like I would protect a daughter of my own.

Probably my favorite part of the movie was NYC's depiction: the sheer size and power that the skyscrapers had in that movie, atleast when I was watching it, was the most exhilarating thing about watching into the spider verse. Although I'm used to seeing skyscrapers both on screen and in person, that was the most organic urban landscape I'd ever seen. Many people say that cities are like living, thinking beings, always moving and changing, but never have I really felt that until seeing how NYC is animated in ITSV. The dark blue and purple in which the city was always cast, made Miles' journey feel so much more redemptive, especially when he's thrusting himself into the dark, upside down world in the "what's up danger" scene.

Where do I even start? Probably my favorite part about the film is that it’s in a way a parody of Spider-Man, and it just works on so many levels. This is the seventh Spider-man movie. For gods sake, audiences are sick of Sony pumping out spider-man films, so this one is very self aware of that. For example, every time they introduce a new spider and they play that theme and show a montage of their origin. to me, that represents all the iterations of the character we’ve seen, and I think the movie even says, ok ok last one, every time a new origin montage is shown. Yet at the same time, it’s so fresh by being so different from the rest of the spider-man films. It’s such a breath of fresh air while addressing in a sense our reaction to Spider-man. It’s as if the filmmakers saw how Spider-man films were being received, and really worked the movie around our reaction (and hollywood’s) to Spider-man. Second, for being a parody of sorts, DAMN it understands the character of Spider-Man. Better than every iteration on screen. Not Peter Parker. Spider-Man. The transcends Peter Parker, which reminds audiences that Spider-Man is a symbol, not one person. ANYONE CAN WEAR THE MASK. it’s just so perfect and i love it. it really does give us the ultimate

Just so you know : I'm buying the DVD and endlessly watching it

As a black kid I wanted to be Spider-Man so bad!! When we as fans got to meet Miles I almost cried, finally a spider-man that looked like me; that had some of the same experiences out of the suit that I did! This movie was perfect and it inspired me to buy a Miles cosplay!

Can I just say that Prowler's theme is freaking intimidating as hell? It makes your heart pound and mind think something's chasing you

This movie showed us the humanity behind such a young, aspiring young man who was just thrust unbelievable powers and a hell of a pair of large shoes to fill. The expectation and pressure thrust onto miles was incredible, and pushing the young boy to believe in himself was the best part of the movie

Bro, like this was both a great and really sad year for Spiderman. And I think one of the saddest parts of it all is the fact that Steve Ditko died, one of the most influential people in Spiderman history, and no one talks about him, simply thinking of or paying homage to Stan Lee as the only Spidy creator. I loved the video, I really did. You share a lot of the same thoughts and feelings that I did coming out of this movie and I was super excited to see the video come up in my notifications. But dawg, my man, as a fellow Spidy fan, like can we pay some respect to Ditko, who also just died this year. That's all I'm askin. Loved the vid tho

This movie was such a treat. Completely surpassed my already pretty high expectations. I hope it does well at the box office and gets enough awards buzz to maybe beat The Incredibles juggernaut for Best Animated Feature, because it really deserves it, and unlike foreign films, it actually stands a chance.

I love the fact that Spider-Ham’s universe has the avengers and they’re all different animals. Like iron man is a rat, Thor is a frog, etc.

just coming back to the video that made me immediately order tickets online to see spiderverse in theaters...... ended up watching it three times in theaters and countless times at home. it really is amazing, and i don't think i'll ever get sick of it

Hands down my favorite movie this year. I've dreamed about seeing an animated Spider-Man movie to this caliber and it delivered so much more heart and laughs and genuine excitement than my brain could initially process. I took my kids to see it the next day and all three of them loved the movie just as much if not more than I did. It just works on every level and I have a hard time finding anything to really nit pick over.

Great video! My personal favorite part of the movie was seeing Blonde Peter's Spider-Man in action. Those few moments from the introduction to the battle in the collider to his death did everything right. The little details in his movement, like the way he steps off of the Collider cylinder before shooting his web after the panel falls on goblin's head, to his quips while fighting, to the way he stops Collider mid-rotation with just the strength of his arm, even the way he makes his way up to the control panel after speaking to Miles about how he could "show him the ropes". They all just convey a level of almost casual confidence and experience in his abilities that I have literally seen no other piece of spidey media get SO right, and that includes the PS4 game. This movie was so good

My favorite single line in the whole movie may be: "I've got good news for you... We don't need the monitor."

Into the Spiderverse was the most amazing film I've ever seen. It's brilliant on all levels.

I honestly just wanted to cry because of how beautiful the movie was! You could really feel the *love* that was put into the movie and I just fuckin loved everything about it! Seeing this movie in theaters was just...bliss. I personally loved Spider-Gwen because of her aesthetic and her costume and her character, but man I love Miles Morales so much too. I hope more people start paying attention to animation as a medium (not a genre) because it has literally endless possibilities and this movie just *proves* that animation can do ANYTHING and that some stories can only work IN animation.

3:15 Maybe not to you, but if you follow LEGO and are a kind of “historian” with the bricks, then it becomes pretty amazing how accurate they were. Even the parts used in some of the props are inside jokes, like where a part they stopped making in the 90’s is right next to its 2000’s replacement. Or Benny’s spaceship, called LL929, a reference to LEGO’s best-selling spaceship in the 70’s, the LL928.

This was my first Spider-Man movie. I fucking loved it. Brilliant, truly brilliant. Probably my favorite animated movie.

Seeing Miles' comic land on the others was the most satisfying movie moment for me this season tbh

One of my favourite things was that (spoilers) the movie didn't even try to convince us that Aaron would hurt Miles after he found out who he was. Nada. He steps back and holds his hands up in a surrender with a small smile on his face. Even after he gets shot, he doesn't tell Miles it's his fault (even though it indirectly is) he encourages him. The parental love in this movie is EXTREMELY well done and one of the best parts of the entire thing for me (as well as the stairs scene)

This...made me realize just how much Stan Lee has impacted the entertainment industry. I cried at his cameo and cried at the quote. I’m even teary eyed thinking of the experience I had there. Miles Morales is probably now my favorite spider man. I always had an interest him being a black hispanic, but then seeing him in action, his quirky and sassy personality that’s almost a Spiderman Trademark, his development here, it makes me wanna dive into his story more, into this story more, and see more Miles and more of these characters. My love for marvel and love for spiderman was rekindled when I saw it, and above all, it gave me another spark to create. Cheers to Stan Lee, for leaving behind such a legacy

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!! Honestly, Geoff, you just said everything and anything I liked to say about the film. I loved every scene of the film. But for some reason, the one scene that touched me the most, was the scene where Peter hangs Miles from the ceiling and asks him if he can turn invisible on command, while the other Spideys are outside. Miles really tries but ultimately fails. That, plus the leap of faith line plus the combined line of Stan and MJ from beforehand made me gush tears

I cried a long time after watching it. I didn't realize how much I needed a story so well-told. It felt like a great artist painted a picture just for us and it contained everything we love. I've experienced satisfying stories before. But this one... this one was satisfying in ways that I never knew I wanted. Spoilers: Something that was /just. so. satisfying/ was the comic book boxed in words showed up, in the moment where "LOOK OUT" shows up behind Miles, and other moments like that. It felt like the narrator/writer of the comic was on his side or our side or both, I don't know. There were so many things that were just so satisfying about this movie. I don't remember the last time I have been this satisfied by the dark moment leading up to the climax in a film--beyond Lord of the Rings, at least. I believed in Miles and related with him so much because he felt real. I felt the danger with him. I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to go try to save the first Peter Parker when I don't even have my powers fully figured out. I'd expect I would just make things worse. And then later when Peter B Parker proves that Miles isn't ready yet--I felt like crying so bad because I've been in a similar place. That frustration is so real, of wanting to be somewhere you aren't, yet. Of wishing you had power that you don't have yet. (aka trying to rock climb a tedious wall that is impossible to climb unless you have strong arm muscles to pull yourself up and go upside down, which I could not, after climbing easier walls) At first, I wanted to nitpick about Miles getting his powers back all at once after the one talk his dad has with him, but then if I remind myself that it's a fantasy movie, I let it slide. It represents that he has found the determination he needs to keep going, and that's really what he needs at this point. It's probably one of the things that makes the next scene so satisfying. I really wish we'd had more time with the first Peter Parker. But I grew to love the second one.

I love how this film made me laugh, cry and care for it's characters without forcing it down the audience's throat. It knew what it wanted to achieve without becoming precocious, ostentatious or a copy of something we've seen before. It's self-deprecating but also takes itself seriously when it needs to. It knows it's audience whilst being accessible to the majority of cinema-goers. It's quintessentially Spider-Man whilst also being it's own unique thing.
